I think the reason it drips so much in between bottles is that there's not enough surface tension on the open end to stop air getting in. The commercially available options have a tube that's sealed on the end, with a small hole bored into the upper side of the tube. This leads to much less air ingress, less dripping, and less risk of breaking the siphon if you're too slow to swap the bottles.
