I'd love to think that with people like Pie finally getting a much more accurate point across, people will calm down. Trouble is, it shouldn't really be coming from a comedian.
Spoof news reporter became serious reporter and absolutely nailed it. What he said when walks along the Reflecting Pool is about the best description about the lack of meaningful open political discussion I have ever heard.
His comments about “not allowing an opinion” and having “taken a flame thrower to this city seem eerily prophetic of what has been going on for the last few weeks - not because of Trump, but because of SJW’s.
Someone once said that in order to joke about something you must know and understand what you are about to make fun of. Hence when Johnathan Pie is making fun of something he understands that behind it all is a fundamental truth.
You know, I'm really starting to like this man. He's funny and very well spoken. As for Trump, say what you will but know that he does stand for something and weather or not this reporter likes him, he at least spoke of him in a respectful manner!
Love this guy. He started this shtick as a lark a while ago and now produces commentary that is better than 99% of the crap in the msm. I'm about as far to the right as he is to the left, but I appreciate honest discourse and legitimate arguments, even when I disagree with them. Wish a lot more people on the left were like him.
Debates about the refugee crisis, yes, we should talk about how we achieve this. Debates about trans rights, no, trans people are within the catogory of 'people' and, thus, deserve rights. That's not something that needs debating. Pie, don't conflate two items like they're the same thing.
Many of these issues ARE given airtime on major news networks. They're STILL debating climate change, albeit with most of the 'skeptics' fighting the 'no ACC' rearguard. We were the nation that had hearings and public debates where people successfully (for a long time) argued that some lead in your diet was a good thing, cigarettes were healthy, and DDT was A-OK. Now it's the current argument over climate, the number of genders/sexes in human biology/psychology, and whether we should be isolationist for awhile. It's easy for Pie to argue that lack of debate breeds resentment, but there isn't a refusal to argue, just condemnation. The USA has always tried to have a happy medium and take the middle road about everything. Sometimes it leads to high atmospheric lead levels. High atmospheric lead levels during the childhood years of most of the US Senate, Congress, and the President. Lead tends to get absorbed into bone. They're old enough to be having loss of bone mass, which means any lead would be leeching back into their blood. The words used back in their day for the psychological effects of lead poisoning: Florid Psychosis No matter what your political beliefs, you can think of a few floridly psychotic people in the highest levels of government. Maybe we should have them tested to see what their blood lead levels are.
That was one of the best videos discussing how he won. I especially loved that debate part, I’m a centralist but I would call myself a progressive. And I think all of us in the centre, who try and understand all sides do understand that you can’t underestimate Trump. But you certainly cannot underestimate the voter. Polls may say one thing, but the voters may say another. It’s really just that progressives go to far, while the ones who can’t join them feel left out and worried. That is what Trump fuels himself on and that’s why, even with his rhetoric I am 100% positive he will win a second term (unless a Bernie/Beto ticket were to happen.) I think Progressives really need to dial it down a bit with the extreme PC shit, subjecting one group into one single narrative and start working and understanding. Because if you don’t more and more right wing leaders will pop up. We’re seeing it in Canada. It’s the problem, because we all know overall Progressives will win (just how History is) but we need to understand that some people don’t agree with us and it is perfectly healthy.
Funny how the most honest people about Trump on the Left will NOT mention that he HAS made life better for almost all Americans, starting with the economy and jobs that are coming back. The truth is that he has been impossibly better than his voters EVER expected! We rank him as one of our best presidents ever.
Who is we? He is a man in name only. He has not 1 saving grace. A liar, a pig, a shameful episode in americas history who will cause many years of trouble after he is taken away, either in chains or a coffin...I'd prefer chains.
Well, he's wrong in almost EVERY view politically, as the performance data proves... but he's not wrong about the arrogance and elitism of his side. Keep calling us names, we'll just keep winning.
There isn't such a thing as "wrong" politically imo. There are just different sides of the same coin, and most of the time both sides are reasonable. It all just depends on what you personally value more in any given situation, and that perfectly fine.
The most accurate summary and that coming from a comedic actor/comedian says it all about the mainstream media who after 2odd years still hasn't figured it out or secondly who hasn't gotten over it either.
So, for starters Democrats are already right of centre by most political spectrums, so even a centrist in America is right wing, and his views and policies are not centrist they're pretty far to the right, hence why far-right groups and publications like him so much, an affiliation he encourages.
@@TheDundeeBiscuitLuvU I suppose it seems that way from a European perspective because from an American perspective all the European parties (in every country, even Hungary and Italy) are left-wing. The last MPQ's was basically socialist arguing with socialists about who's more socialists. Corbyn and May want the same things, they only disagree on implementation.
He’s very right leaning on the economic spectrum with his tax cuts for corps. He’s also authoritarian on his immigration, Bush Jr for example was not nearly as anti illegal immigration as Trump. Only centrist thing I see on Trump is his social values. He doesn’t care much about Abortion or Gay marriage but has to say he opposes them as his whole party does, he won’t do anything to help overturn them though
Look up the political compass. Much better at explaining politics than a simple, ineffective line. On that compass, Trump would end up on the libertarian side, Hillary would end up on the authoritarian side. In fact, people who are described as 'left' or 'extreme left', would be considered authoritarian on the chart. That's why people get enraged by them. And honestly, we should. Anyone who is authoritarian, whatever 'side' they are in, if they take away freedoms, they are the enemy. If only others could remove sides, and understand what the real threat is, no one could take away their freedoms, ever again.
I voted for Trump because I do not believe that the first US Secretary of State to have to eulogize one of her Ambassadors for being killed in action (the first in American history) is qualified to lead a government. In Japan or China, perhaps even in the UK, a minister presiding over such a failure would have been forced to resign and shamed out of public service.
Trump has presided over botched missions which have resulted in the deaths of American military personnel. A simple Google search would do you well. Yet I assume you're not calling for him to resign?
Then why vote for Trump? Especially how Clinton was grilled for many many hours and not even the republicans found much wrong doing. Trump on the other hand...Not going too well for him.
China's president is immune to impeachment. UK's Theresa May is a reoccurring time bomb. Shinzo Abe of Japan ends up in scandals all the time. Your examples are completely flawed,
I get that people don't like Hillary. I'm not sure if I would have voted for her if Iived in the US. But the man who bankrupted at least four of his own businesses and who keeps his other busineses afloat by stiffing contractors and who conned a bunch of poor people with a fake universtity is even less qualified.
It was a snake oil since he has gotten into power he has given himself and his rich buddies a MASSIVE TAX CUT increased the already insanely over sized military budget opened up the national parks for oil drilling he has been slowly dismantling protections for workers and attacking unions basically if you are a working man and you voted for trump you are a massive sucker.
- sigh - Pie is missing the bigger picture. How did Donald Trump win? simple. Capitalism. Let me explain: In 2008 capitalism collapsed, the centrists and classic right wing in control of the advanced nations chose to take the peoples money and bail out the system in order to continue as if business as usual. This came on top of wages being stagnant to falling for the last 40 years for the bottom 70% of advanced nations due to the primary law of capitalism, profit seeks the lowest cost of labour, which means: A) Employers bring cheaper workers to the jobs or stagnate wages as best they can which they can do due to surplus labour granted by productivity gains. But if unable B) Employers send the jobs abroad to cheaper labour, but if unable C) More machines and automation. The centrists and classical rights failure to resolve the contradictions of capitalism that have been fucking the workers for decades, resulted in a collapse of legitimacy in the centre ground of politics all over the globe, with 2008 breaking the near subconscious consent of the masses for things as they are, the poor getting poorer, the rich getting richer, never to change. This opens the door to two types of people, the righteous, and the demagogue. The righteous blames the economic system, the righteous tells people not to blame migrants who are exploited equally by the system with them, the righteous wants to end wars, resolve difference, help the poor, but because the righteous would take wealth from the few to help the many, that person and their politics are destroyed by a tag team of centrists, the right wing, the media, and the rich who own them all, simultaneously. The Demagogue blames "migrants/muslims/gays/blacks/jews/insert a minority of choice" in order to divert enough of the peoples attention away from the economic system that is fucking them so as to preserve that economic system. Trump, Matteo Salvini, Jair Bolsonaro, Sebastian Kurz, these are examples of demagogues. Bernie Sanders, Jeremy Corbyn, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, these are examples of the righteous. If our world slips into demagogues in this age, it will be our last age as capitalism itself is incompatible with the physics required to have a future and we have less than ten years left to do something about that before nothing we do will make any difference to the final outcome. If there is a God I hope he will help us as we seem incapable of helping ourselves. www.reddit.com/user/Darkstar-82/comments/a27gy9/statement_capitalism_is_incompatible_with_having/

The word great is a nebulous term used in an arbitrary manner, so it could apply to any number of things. In terms of growth, employment, and even carbon emissions (despite the news not reporting it) it is better now than it was under Obama. The world is watching with baited breath....best show in the world 😉
I'm so glad that everyone here knows this brilliant man is a comedian who writes jokes for a living. Surely they're aware of the freedom to NOT view this video if they're THAT offended. They can just move on. Just a thought. 🤔😂👍🏾😉🇺🇸🇬🇧
He will be back soon explaining how Donald Trump won a second term Lol!
Best Comedian journalist ever. Very clever geezer...
Great message. Also liked your first point about him appealing to the whole country rather than certain demos.
You get me ALL the time.
EVERY SINGLE TIME !
Without exception.
I like how he can analyze the election from a left wing perspective but still make damn good sense.
Like the left cant make damn good sense🙄
..this should be shown in schools, churches and government run education seminars....absolutely brilliant.
His comments about “not allowing an opinion” and having “taken a flame thrower to this city seem eerily prophetic of what has been going on for the last few weeks - not because of Trump, but because of SJW’s.
Ha ha! Clearly not my lines!! You are an absolute gem!! You need to run for PM I'd vote for you!!
Conclusion....?! Trump 2020😂
Finally someone who speaks their mind
Love this guy. He started this shtick as a lark a while ago and now produces commentary that is better than 99% of the crap in the msm. I'm about as far to the right as he is to the left, but I appreciate honest discourse and legitimate arguments, even when I disagree with them. Wish a lot more people on the left were like him.
At friggin RT mind you 🤣
wow one of your best videos, Pie!
The words used back in their day for the psychological effects of lead poisoning: Florid Psychosis
No matter what your political beliefs, you can think of a few floridly psychotic people in the highest levels of government.
Maybe we should have them tested to see what their blood lead levels are.
"It's a neat trick if you can hold a biro that way"
That was one of the best videos discussing how he won.
That was fucking TOP CLASS. It takes a comedian to actually report the REAL NEWS.
Why is he holding his hands like that?
He's playing a character, the character of a British news presenter. That's generally how they hold their hands and gesticulate.
Good man
Was expecting something else, pleasantly surprised. JP's take on Trudeau next, many of us Canadians can't wait to show him the door! Cheers!!
Nothing has changed. Trump will win a second turn.
Man he must have not been a very good president if nothing has changed then?
"...but if you do that you hand him a second term, and that is on YOU." it's mind boggling that so many have not seen this and keep on doubling down.
Funny how the most honest people about Trump on the Left will NOT mention that he HAS made life better for almost all Americans, starting with the economy and jobs that are coming back. The truth is that he has been impossibly better than his voters EVER expected! We rank him as one of our best presidents ever.
Yeahhhh...that's not true...
Who is we?
He is a man in name only.
He has not 1 saving grace.
A liar, a pig, a shameful episode in americas history who will cause many years of trouble after he is
taken away, either in chains or a coffin...I'd prefer chains.
This! Oh, so very much this. Thanks.
Pie always on right the money
2:00 ... the duck clearly agreed! (So do I, btw.)
Well, he's wrong in almost EVERY view politically, as the performance data proves... but he's not wrong about the arrogance and elitism of his side. Keep calling us names, we'll just keep winning.
Who's "he" - Trump or Pie?
@@rolfs2165 Pie, Genius.
There isn't such a thing as "wrong" politically imo. There are just different sides of the same coin, and most of the time both sides are reasonable. It all just depends on what you personally value more in any given situation, and that perfectly fine.
This is some good satire here , it will piss off both sides prolly innit but probably funny to both too so good job. Good montage at the end too 😂😂😂😂
Actually, mate, that's pretty good for the BBC.
Can't believe I missed this one until now. Please come back to the States soon!
College educated women for Trump 2020!!!!
Oxymoron
The most accurate summary and that coming from a comedic actor/comedian says it all about the mainstream media who after 2odd years still hasn't figured it out or secondly who hasn't gotten over it either.
Second term boys
Brilliant as always.
Trump was a Democrat until 2009. He's a centrist / nationalist and that's why he won; he appeals to EVERYONE except the extremes on both sides.
"EVERYONE" .. imgur.com/gallery/ocM1bVD
John bloody brilliant comments: spot on mate!
But the man who bankrupted at least four of his own businesses and who keeps his other busineses afloat by stiffing contractors and who conned a bunch of poor people with a fake universtity is even less qualified.
even in the UK? something tells me you dont know as much as you make it out to be.
Even Obama ran on the words "Yes We Can" like he was talking about everyone together
After all this bitter truth they had to put the snake oil part to not annoy their bosses at bbc..
Nope, it was probably Jonathan Pie’s idea.
It was a snake oil since he has gotten into power he has given himself and his rich buddies a MASSIVE TAX CUT increased the already insanely over sized military budget opened up the national parks for oil drilling he has been slowly dismantling protections for workers and attacking unions basically if you are a working man and you voted for trump you are a massive sucker.
....perfect....Mr. Pie is the kind of lefty I can get behind....well done sir.
- sigh - Pie is missing the bigger picture. How did Donald Trump win? simple. Capitalism.
Let me explain:
In 2008 capitalism collapsed, the centrists and classic right wing in control of the advanced nations chose to take the peoples money and bail out the system in order to continue as if business as usual. This came on top of wages being stagnant to falling for the last 40 years for the bottom 70% of advanced nations due to the primary law of capitalism, profit seeks the lowest cost of labour, which means:
A) Employers bring cheaper workers to the jobs or stagnate wages as best they can which they can do due to surplus labour granted by productivity gains. But if unable
B) Employers send the jobs abroad to cheaper labour, but if unable
C) More machines and automation.

At least he didn't say Russian bots or that he appealed to racists.
Ive never heard a bigger pile of shite.
JONATHAN PIE IS CRUSHING IT RIGHT NOW, HATS FUCKING OFF
People were sick of lying politicians saying 1 thing but doing another. He does what he says.
What do you mean by that? He lies every time he opens his mouth and makes a concerted effort to take both sides of every position he speaks about. It'd be damned near impossible for him to *not* do what he says, because what he says he does, is *everything*.
How tf can someone smoothly move diagonally while facing AND walking straight towards the camera (1:22->). All with a dead set stare. This guy earns his salary, a true goddamn professional.
Nobel peace prise for Trump 2019
The Nobel Peace prize is a sham anyway, I don't care if Trump wins it or not.
Nailed it.
Resentment...
If the UK government was willing to have honest, open discussions about immigration then we might have stayed in the EU
But no one had the balls to talk about it because no one wanted to risk being labeled as a racist so the issue got ignored
One thing nobody acknowledges is that he is actually doing a good job.
Lol, he barely works or knows whats going on around him.
@@mokiloke im no supporter but econnomy and foreign relstions best shape for years.
We do t hear this as liberal elite media continue to demonise him
How can he be doing a good job. When all he does is tweet nonsence while sitting on the toilet.
@@Bruce-vq7ni because the economic figures say so.
The mainstream media are trying to remove him and replace him with globalist puppets like Hillary Clinton.
Whether me or you like it or not, he was voted in by working class people who have been forgotten in this modern world. Where global business, banking/finance, media and the political elites think they dont have to obey democracy.
The same way they are trying to stop brexit.
If this carries on and they keep ignoring the working class, you will see more than the citizens of france putting on their yellow vests
"Economy" is just a bunch of stock market made up numbers with no relation to reality whatsoever, and eventually someone is going to get a tough wake-up call about that, wait and see.
Nicely done!
TRUMP 2020! MAGA :D
Very reasonable, well thought out points.
People aren't gonna like this...
I’ll vote trump if he gives more tax breaks to the 1% because those guys need a break too
👏
Why the 1%?
@@CaesarsLegion1 Isn't it obvious? If you give tax breaks to 99% the budget will lose much money and these people will buy food, change it into shit, and burn the energy waching TV. If you give tax breaks to the 1% the budget will still be alright and these people will invest their money in even more great endevours. Most people in the 1% do great things for the society so taking less money from them will improve the society even more.
temporary_name lmao
Well they do pay more in taxes than the other classes...
Jonathan pie! you rock!
Ugh, Pie gone woke and now peddles for the BBC. Disappointing.
ANOTHER TOSSER
well, we just gotta wait and see how he changes.
who knows, maybe he's gonna stay the same, but have a more steady revenue.
man sold out.
How is trying to convince the left extremists that not everyone on the right is a cartoon villain being woke? And it is possible to hate Trump and not be woke I blame the feminazis for him as it is. They are the cancer Trump is just a tumour.
Did you even watch the video?
Wow. The total truth spoken very intuitively.
MAGA
I'm curious at what point America is gonna be great again? And when did it lose its greatness? Its just a myth, America has been a superpower since the end of WW2, and the only superpower after the Cold War. Biggest military and economy. How is it not 'great'?
The word great is a nebulous term used in an arbitrary manner, so it could apply to any number of things. In terms of growth, employment, and even carbon emissions (despite the news not reporting it) it is better now than it was under Obama. As Trump is a nationalist we can assume that it's these things that he will make great again. America for Americans, not free loaders.
@@ArcanePath360 The economy was beginning to grow in Obama's last years, let's not forget he came to power in 2009, the greatest recession since the Great Depression occurred in 2008. If you look at statistics from things like growth rate, you'll find that in many cases they were actually higher in Obama's last years. I can tell you one thing is that America is less respected than it was before Trump. I'm from UK and even those who may disagree with his politics think he's a bumbling idiot.
is MAGA short for 'magazine' because you all kill each other with guns?
MAGA is the whiny cry of entitled angry babies, begging for Big Brother to save them and make them feel nice again.
Best fitted suit jacket you worn so far, Walker. They are usually too big for you, in my humble opinion.
Who cares In just glad he did.
Rebecca M are you sure?
Bria ravioli Yes he’s great at business. I do not agree with everything. But the economy is working well. I liked Obama but he just wasn’t a good president. Everyone loved him before he ran.
Why?
@@rmatakovich Obama rescued us from Bush's recession. Trump has added over a trillion to our debt. The number of new jobs has gone down since trump took over. Now trumps tariffs are making the share market very wobbly. Trump started with 400 million dollars from his dad and became bankrupt. He is crap with money.
cary bary not only that but in my opinion, tear gassing people and sending your condolences to families that have gone through trauma is trash. not saying that it’s going to stop all the violence but a gun reform instead of a “i’m sorry” would help. i feel like it’s all personal gain with him.
Absolutely nailed it
This is a great video !
Jonathan Pie on the BBC? Yes please.
Pie walking should be a meme
I really look forward to your monologue/rant
Spot on.. Again 👍
Needed to be said, NEEDS even more to be heard.
Very shrewd. I don't know if he writes his own material or even if these are actually his views, but there is a great deal of sense in his words.
