I really wish we had this on something with better audio quality than a cellphone. Can you imagine what this might have sounded like on professional audio equipment.

No he is not Country, this is a Blues/Soul man. He may have some Country type runs, and some songs geared more towards that sound, but his voice fits in better in Blues tracks. Regardless of what we think he is, he is one in a million generation star. I compare him to the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn of the 80's and 90's.

I think it's futile/doomed to be inaccurate and understate his talent, to attempt to pigeonhole Stapleton. He's a country boy who grew up with country music and loves it...and who is also steeped in many other kinds of music-- including and especially the blues, r&b and soul-- all of it having been listened to, loved and played so much in his years of yeoman's work in the music business (and before), that whatever is just right for what he's feeling and aiming to express, comes out at just the right time and in just the right way. Kind of like growing up speaking several languages and having the right phrase from the right language come to mind in order to express something with the right connotations/tone.
