The best reaction to this song by Chris Stapleton is from the band members behind him. This was unrehearsed, he was in the audience and was invited up to do a number with them. The song was a request. The guitar was a loaner from a band member. That's what makes this performance even more amazing.

It’s true, country and blues are mirror images of one another. Great story telling about heartache, lost love, hard times with blue collar workers. Songs about family, and traditions. It’s just sad that their fan bases are often at odds with one another. Unfortunately that’s the way the government wants it, the more divided the blue collar workers of our country are the more diluted their power. If both sides got together…….? Well that would be a force of voters no one could deny.
He was a top high school athlete, played sports in all seasons, and was valedictorian of his high school. He got a scholarship to Vanderbilt university.

The backstory to this video. Chris Stapleton was sitting in the audience, listening to the band, but played for decades with James Brown. He was enjoying the show when they asked him to please come up and sing. It’s a man’s world! The audience chanted his name begged him to sing. He got up out of his chair without notice him and he sang that song off the top of his head!
Chris did an amazing job doing a cover of this song. I love his soulful voice. I love you're guys reactions. You guys are too funny and keep it real. The best cover I have ever heard is from a guy named Joshua Ledet when he performed it on American Idol a long time ago. You both need to react to that version. Your mind will be blown listening to him.

I absolutely loved him and everything from the Motor City back in the day. Please Give Chris a bit of credit for even attempting such a legendary song. He and James Brown are both legends in their own way and in their own time. Music should always be fluid.

Fashion repeats itself about every 30 years. I can prove it -----I just saw a beautiful young girl walk past my house in bell bottom jeans and a tie dyed t-shirt with platform shoes. This old white woman wore the exact same clothes in the "70s. Made me feel young for a few minutes. But, there is one thing-we sure had some good music back then and Chris Stapleton would have fit right in. Glad you appreciate Chris, he's a Kentuckian and so am I. God Bless

hey guys, Chris is from Lexington Kentucky, my hometown. I am a country boy from there. But learned to dance as a little guy from the black girls that came out to our farm to see my sisters . They were in high school I was in elementary school . My father could sing was on the radio singing and made 78 albums. You guys probably need to look up what a 78 is. My sister was a back up singing with two other black girls. We all can SANG. Elvis was a melungeon. Another one was Abraham Lincoln. In school play sports, fastest white guy ever. Coach was Jim Green at the time fastest man in the world. Now going to blow your mind. I am Jewish. The lost tribe of the 13. They say ended up in etheopia. There is a Jewish tribe there.
