Was just a glorious time to be a musician and a fan of music , acts like Stevie Wonder, The Commodores , David Ruffin, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, (YOUNG) Mariah Carey , Jodeci, Boyz II Men , the entire era of the (new Jack swing sound) , Bryan White, Steve Wariner I can go on and on .

If you're looking for some more good country music to react to I'd suggest Jason Isbell: The Elephant, Jamie Johnson: You Should Have Seen It In Color Or something from Sturgill Simpson. All great bands and songs, but all really different without getting into any of the pop-country stuff.
His wife is the one who convinced him to stop selling his songs to other artists and to drop out of the bluegrass band The Steeldrivers (fantastic group!) and go out on his own. So, when he says man ain't nothing without a woman or a girl, he's feeling it because she gave him the confidence. She also sings backup/harmonizing on a lot of his songs and is really the love of his life (along with their 6 , I think children!!)
