I never had the chance to see Barischnikov in the theater, always in video. His strength, art, stamina and precision are without comparison. Love his performance at L'Espectre. Thank you, Judith Booth.
Wow! It is amazing to me how one choreography can look so different on various dancers! I'm sure each person brings their own strengths to each role. The ballerina ' s tiny, fast steps en pointe and the Rose's leaps and turns made this so joyous. What a delight to see! Thank you for posting this!
Great. I saw Carlos Acosta, many moons ago when he was in his prime, dance this at Covent Garden. He executed a very strong grand jete through the window to enter the room, causing the audience to gasp! He was so good I'll not forget it.
I only saw him dance live once. With his White Oak dance project at the Sadlers Wells theatre in London about 20 years ago. By that time he was definitely past his prime in terms of strenuous technique, but his artistry and interpretation were exquisite.
ThanksJudith for posting this -I was lucky enough to see Barishnikov live on two occasions with Royal Ballet Swan Lake and La Fille mal Gardee and with ABT dancing in Robbins Dances at a Gathering Superb!!! a great technical, artisitic and dramatic dancer
Thanks for coming by!! I have a Spectre playlist with 50 or so vids .. Ifyou have not seen Manuel Legris in Spectre you might want to check it out < g >
@@pediatrapaola It makes no sense to compare the artists, even more when their style and storyline is totally different. He doesn't really have the "scent of the rose" quality. He is to robust, not etherial enough. I will give him that this is a shortened version done amongst a huge bill in which he was in every perf. Still I prefer an interp more close to Manuel Legris. Ledgers "got" it. He understood what Fokine wanted. B may understand but I doubt he is capable of giving it. Dancers cannot dance all ballets. Baryshnikov, like Rudolf Nureyev, and Nijinsky were the greatest male dancers of the last century
