    My basic mushroom jerky recipe I use for just about any mushroom.
    There's a few good tips and tricks in here, but the best, and one I don't think I drove home enough, is that the basic recipe is fine, but the creativity comes from tossing the mushrooms with different seasonings you like after they're drained, and before they're dried. Think jerk spice, pickle powder, barbecue spice, dried ramp leaves, or just a mix of fresh herbs and hot chili as I demonstrate in the video. Play around and make it your own.

    Really excited to try these. I spend too much at the Asian market on dehydrated mushrooms that have very little taste. I just got a new 10 tray dehydrator and this will be my next recipe. Thanks for sharing.

    That's really neat. I would have thought the mushrooms would kinda melt down into slop after too long a marinading. So I was surprised to hear you can marinade them so long. I was also really curious as to how you would get the chewy factor. I've seen dried mushrooms that kinda shatter or powderise so it was awesome to see how supple and tender your shrooms turned out! Thansk

      Yeah the secret to pliability is to not over dry them, and you must have some kind of sweetener.

      @@foragerchef4141 fascinating. I've had great results with tofu jerky so this seems like a good next level to try!

    I use resinous Polypore Mushrooms to make Jerky out of. The only problem is they shrink alot when they are dehydrated.

    people, dont eat raw mushroom!

      Saying that mushrooms shouldn’t be eaten raw because they contain chitin or some other nonsense is just parroting some information you picked up somewhere and didnt take time to think critically about. Humans can’t digest chitin, true, but we also can’t digest corn (unless it’s been nixtamilized). Last time I checked plenty of people still eat corn. And that’s just one of example.

      @ do you eat corn raw? … then why would you eat mushroom raw?

    • @foragerchef4141
      @foragerchef4141  17 дней назад

      @Cooking doesn’t denature corn or mushrooms to make them fully digestible so that’s meaningless. Please stop mindlessly repeating info you haven’t researched. Next you’re going to tell me all about cut vs pull right?
