I add beet powder to lemonade. If you don't go nuts with it you won't notice any beet taste, but you'll get some sweetness and the pretty colour. You get the health benefits of beets that way.

When I was making my smoothies, which I really should get back into, I loved beet juice in my smoothies. They were especially good with smoothies that I had lemon in, the lemon cut through the woodiness of the beets and just gave it a really good flavor. One trick I learned was, if I don’t like something throw it in a smoothy. Everything is better in a smoothy.😊

I would honestly just put a TBSP of the powder in a small amount of water (or juice to mask the flavor), just enough for a mouthful, and down it.

This is exactly what I've been doing with a few different things. And I have discovered the ones you buy in the store, do not have the same effect. There's additives and preservatives added in them, so that you don't get enough of what you need. There's a noticeable difference in the ones you make yourself.

Don't forget the beet greens! They are so healthy and detox the liver.
I tried to dehydrate the stems once and they took forever. Next time I will put them in the food processor first and spread them out to dehydrate. The fresher the beets, the easier they are to cut.

Hi, I wanted to say thank you for the book recommendations on your blog! I purchased a few from a used book website and I am excited to get reading. This year I am committed to reducing my kitchen waste through dehydrating, canning, composting and gardening. I've been having fun dehydrating meat treats for my dog and looking at my food differently. Now instead of "that is about to go bad", I think of dehydrating or composting. The Goodwill here already knows me as "the mason jar girl" :P

GReat video - hubby and I capsule our own turmeric powder (great for RA) and a powdered supplement I get specifically for RA (I don't take big pharma). It's a great little unit!!! We also had a cat that needed to take meds and rather than bothering him four times we put all of his meds in one capsule. It was much easier on him and us!!

My family of 7 loves when i make this dish. Adjust for your families size. You can also switch out any ingredients for your tastes.
    Recipe:
1 head red/purple/or green cabbage cut into bite size
    3- beets cut up
    2- Onions diced
    6- potatoes cut bite-sized
    3- carrots cut up
    3- parsnips cut up
Add all that into baking dish. Cover with alfredo sauce, then top with garlic powder, pepper, salt, and oregano. Then cut up Kielbasa and place neatly on top. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes. Stir and bake another 45 minutes. Serve with balsamic vinegar over top. We also sometimes use sour kraut on it. Its soooooo yummy 😋

I have a decent coffee grinder for small things and a Vitamix (which I love) for bigger projects. The Nutri-Ninja would fit right in the middle and I would probably use it more often. If I was to take more than that I will be up until the next morning without ever going to sleep.i been using beets off and on for 20 years😮 PS. i had to learn that the hard way, the very first time i juiced them had a whole 8oz. glass i didn't sleep until the next day about3pm and that was the same time i made the juice the day before😮😮😊😊

I love this idea of powdering beets. I think I would just mix the powder to a glass of water or something. I like drinking veggie/fruit powder mixes, but they are very expensive. Have you ever crunched the numbers on what it costs you to make your own? A green powder plus beet powder drink for a 30 day supply? Usually an organic commercial mix costs at least 30 dollars.

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
