I have a question... There's so many laws that give advantage to the wealthy. The G offers to stop the advantage but not punish or give advantage to the poor,, is this the intended outcome of a democratic system?
I'm all for the interest rates going down. And I know for sure my landlord is not then going to bring my rent down. And certainly the real estate isn't going to advocate for it either They're gratefully pocket the relief from their own cost of living crisis, ignoring mine So the people that own property are going to get more of a relief and gonna be up to buying more groceries. Which could possibly drive up the cost of groceries as the supermarkets realise there is more profit to be made. How does that help me?
32:30 Seriously, a 4 million dollar house is a normal price for an average house regardless of the location. Why did the media fail to report on Dutton’s Paladin, Canstruct, and Watergate, all at taxpayers' expenses? And Albo paid with his own money.
Have you looked into the base salary of politicians. And then the salary for his particular position. His own money is the money we are giving him. And he's using that as leverage to borrow - and the privilege of living off the interest of his other investments. And I don't mean this to corner him out they're all doing it.. the politicians are not going to vote for a drop in their own wages or for some other policy the disincentivizes investment properties
This is the most standard reaction from the central left... 4 million is not normal anyplace and very much not in central coast. And Dutton whataboutism? How are you talking to? No Dutton voters are watching this,, they're sitting on a football pitch eating dirt
The ABC RR made a big thing that 6 million people voted for the voice. Completely ignoring 19 million people voted against it. I note that 3 times 6 is 18;so, more than three times as many Australians voted against the voice... I think the majority of Australians are sick of being force fed guilt. In fact most of our families came to Australia well after all the wrongs were were done to the aboriginal people so, no hereditary guilt should come our way. The bigger issue for me was the change to the constitution. The constitution is a tiny document you can easily read it in 15min, this is the foundation of our government. A small change to this tiny document would have major impacts on how our government runs. Then when looking at the proposed wording: “2. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice may make representations to Parliament and the Executive Government on matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.“ Every matter in parliament effects every Australian so, the voice would have been an effective third house in our government...
We written comment. I understand the feelings.. my feelings about it went. Let's give stuff to those poor ppl one day my turn for stuff will come... 2 10 ld white men don't hand power to poor ppl.. I don't trust the voice will do anything so to not give it to them is just insulting for no reason
You realise "make representations" just means "tell them what you think", it doesn't give any actual power to veto or otherwise affect the process of passing legislation. Industry lobby groups have "the power to make representations" on their own vested interests, which are often against the interests of ordinary Australians. You're right about one thing though: matters which affect First Nations people also affect other Australians: things like affordable housing, healthcare accessibility in regional areas, fair wages... there's an old saying, "a rising tide lifts all boats." Personally, I'd be much happier for an Indigenous Voice having the ear of government, rather than some faceless industry lobby group who wants to suppress wages, roll back workplace safety laws and squeeze every last cent of profit out of the rest of us.
Very interesting that most Australian's don't want us to pick a side in the middle east.. it feels like everyone is on one side or the other but that's just ppl with strong feelings talk online more...
I don't get it. What is too much 1,2,3 million? you can't by an outhouse in the outer suburbs of Sydney for less than a mill. The real issue is what is in a politicians' investment portfolio and how does this effect a politicians' decision making. If I was Dutton, Angus Taylor et. al., I would keep my mouth shut.
I agree, but p.m. considers his properties part of his investment portfolio. so logically he has no interest in bringing house prices down and wants them to double or triple
You guys do financial modelling sometimes yeah? Would be really interested to see a more in-depth analysis of the "media needs the funding" claim, if the revenue numbers are available. How much revenue would they actually lose, assuming they filled the advertising slots with other companies at whatever the market rate is? And, if we take them at their word that it would affect their ability to continue to exist, what would be the cost if we were to create a publicly funded safety net for all the networks to ensure the continued existence of free-to-air TV and sports, and would this cost be offset by the costs to the economy that gambling creates?

I remember Paul on Brisbane TV in about 1978 with quite a head of hair. Always an honest punter.

The political class seems to be motervated to give those with most advantage over those with least....😢

4 million dollar for the average home regardless of the location . what?.
Found the capitalist

If you dislike Labor you don't have to vote Dutton. Just because there's worse doesn't give freedom to be gluteney
If the PM sells his Dulwich home he no longer has a property in his electorate.

Force fed guilt? You are just to lazy to have to think or acknowledge

Nobody needs multiple homes in a housing crisis. Decommodify housing.
Mandatory no more than 1 home
