I love to find out that there are others like me, a 44 yr old mother of 2 sons, who are proud to call themselves a lover of One Piece. Like you, I have laughed and cried while reading the manga and watching the anime for the last 20 or so years. I am caught up with both the manga and anime. It is my favorite manga\anime series of all time. I own the manga, have both figurines and posters, and wear shirts with all the Strawhats to this day. My friends and other extended family members laugh at me and think it’s a joke but I don’t give a s**t. I love what I love. I have been reading other manga and watching other anime series as well since the early 2000’s but One Piece is a series like no other. My sons, 24 yrs old and 22 yrs old, are also lovers of anime and manga and One Piece is there favorite as well. My sons and I make the time to read the new manga chapters together when they come out and watch the new anime episodes as they drop. My husband decided to watch One Piece once he really noticed how much my sons and I love the series and how it connects us in a positive manner. I am rewatching it with him and he has now just reached Impel Down. One Piece has become a family experience. Oda-sensei is a genius, his storytelling and world building are phenomenal. Oh, also - One Piece stopped having endings for a long time so the openings were made twice as long to compensate. I think they've started having endings again recently, though.
As someone who has watched countless animes this one remains #1 for me. People say it's mid because it's too long or it has bad pacing, but One Piece compensates for it through everything else. The worldbuilding, character design, plot, humor, and emotional are masterfully thought out by Oda and it gets better and better throughout the series. At it's core One Piece is an adventure story, and because of its length it really feels like you're on an adventure with the crew. No other anime has made me feel as attached to the characters as One Piece. Highly recommend checking it out!

Yes One Piece can give a feeling of a kid's action show. However it deals with highly mature themes. Everything from Theft, Extortion, Backmail, Murder, Racism, Slavery, Child Abuse, Rape, Graphic Torture, Drug Abuse, Child Experimentation, Genocide, War, and much more are brought up in the series. And One Piece lore is arguably more complex than either Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. If you ever do watch the series, you will probably laugh at the childish antics of the characters but also realize the complex political conflicts of the factions in the world. It is a story that can make you laugh, cry, rage and get pumped all in one episode of the series.
In my humble and very biased opinion, One Piece is the best story ever told. I'm 30years old. I cried over 2 things in the last 12 years and those are death of loved ones and One Piece. It's actually crazy :D
I love it and adore Luffy, who I felt very meh about for a lot of the story. But I struggle to say it’s the best ever, I don’t think I could ever pick just one, even within just anime. They’re quite a few stories I think are masterpieces, and if we’re talking just anime attack on titan is first that comes to mind, which may seem baffling to some if they haven’t seen s3 and s4. However it’s not the only anime I’d say is up there with one piece. I really love and am sometimes addicted to one piece, but I’ve seen/read too many other good stories that I can’t say it’s better than those overall. But in certain aspects like world building it’s among the very best. I have a good bit of qualms with it but in the end I still love it.

I like how you analyze the music, to be honest this great story has been accompanying me all my life, from childhood where I saw it on TV, to adulthood, so imagine what this story means to me and to others. At first it may seem very funny, but when it wants it knows how to aim for your heart, I remember how I cried in the Ace arch... it was a trauma for me, but it is something that will become immortal in my opinion
The series is kinda very dark, in an adult way. It's not in-your-face-dark but the themes reflect some real world problems too... like human trafficking and societal oppression, and a lot more.. And the author does address it. It's not noticeable because of the cute character designs 😊 Been a fan of the series since I started reading/watching it 10 years ago. Now I'm 28 and I still love it😭

It’s the odyssey of anime, it’s been incredibly impactful to not only Japanese culture but ours as well. You can find One Piece references in many of our own media that you’d have never seen until you watch/read One Piece for yourself.
One Piece very much is a power of friendship good vibes show, but it has some of the most gut wrenching, tear inducing moments as well. The dark moments make the good times shine brighter. Major themes are pursing one's dream, the power of a found family, sacrifice for others, moral vs legal right vs wrong. It's my favorite anime from a plot and character standpoint. It does suffer at times from pacing issues around the midpoint, but it does not suffer from pointless filler like Naruto did (in my opinion). The second "We Are" at 19:00 is sang by the VAs for the Straw Hat crew.
I started the anime the weekend the live action dropped on Netflix in like September last year. Walked in on the wife trying out the live action, knew I liked it right away, turned around and started anime after less than an episode. Watched to current before new year, and am currently getting manga current, like110 in of like 1100 and counting. If you have the time, do it. Cant recommend it highly enough. Especially as someone who never watched more than the first year of Pokémon whenever that hit, it’s been a great basically introduction to anime as an adult.
I've seen like 300 anime since i started in 2012, only started watching one piece a year and a half ago and for me one piece is the best anime. I'm on episode 940 so i'm super close to catching up. But its just such a great journey. Its just consistently high quality all of the way through.

Actually no one really knows what the One Piece is... But what I can tell is that it is the most mysterious treasure that there is (in that world). It is also the final treasure (when it is found the anime will end). It's like the Saint Graal or the Youth Fountain of legends... The crew just navigate the entire world to find it. PS.: There were the Pirate King who got his title by finding the One Piece, but he was executed and disclosed the One Piece existance. After him there's Luffy (but not only him) who wants to find this treasure and become the second Pirate King...
We still don't know what the One Piece is! Oda's only said two things about it (to my knowledge). 1. it's not just gold and jewels 2. it's not 'the friends we made along the way' or anything like that So it's not 'just' treasure, and it is, in fact, 'something' is what we know. I've not got into the latest arc yet, so I'm not fully up to date - so take my info with a grain of salt, I guess!
All we know is that One Piece is a Physical THING (possibly a treasure) hide somewhere in the world by the precedent Pirate King and whoever find it become the New Pirate King And Luffy's dream is precisely to become the new Pirate King and therefore goes on adventures to find the One Piece A lot of subplots are treated, most dark like slavery, mass murder and such bad things but it's overall a really happy story I personally love the first 4 openings because they make you feel so Much the appeal of adventure, the freedom and happyness of being out there with friends .... If you watch it you will find a feating pace for yourself Some arc ("seasons") are much longer than other so you will probably take some good pause time to time I say no further execpt that is really one of the best story ever told by a man
I'm not sure if there are other comments about this and I know this comment is kinda late but all of these are the shorter versions made for tv, the longer versions have some really cool stuff to check out and some pretty cool solos too. Definitely recommend checking them out one day.
When it comes to anime reactions, despite me not watching your channel, I couldn't help but comment this advice: Don't stress yourself to put it to a schedule. Go at your own pace and just put your shows into a rotation. That way, your watchers know what will be your next reaction, but you'll get to it when you get to it, so you don't have to rush yourself to fit it in. A lot less stressful that way, I feel. Hope that advice helps.

To show the span of this great anime, i was 8 when it first came out. Im now almost 34 years old. Also your "what is the One piece?" question to everything you said on your theory the answer is... Yes.
Don't be daunted by the number of episodes, like most people are. It's supposed to be an adventure you take with the protagonist. Take your time if/when you decide to watch, and don't let people sway your opinion on it. In my opinion, I believe it is the greatest story that is being told. But I digress, you should find out for yourself and enjoy the journey.

Had a great time watching, just a heads up these kind of videos can get a copyright claim for the music being used (hope it doesn't) but as a huge one piece fan and a drummer myself it was super cool to see you do the whole track list in one video and talk about how good some of the beats on these songs are! Also in case no one else said it already the main character luffy is a rubber man hence the long arms and the weird abilities he has.
Despite the overall happy and whimsical tone of the show/manga, the story touches on topics like: Racism, Slavery, Human and Child experimentation, Corrupt governments, genocide and much much more. I’m glad you enjoyed the openings as much a we all did!
Only watched your reaction to the first opening so far - plan to finish the video obviously, but one piece is such a big series to me. Before watching it i was like "Oh overrated, too long etc" but now that im caught up (1117 chapters later) ive realized its much too short. a life changing anime. most of the big scenes arent the fights, or transformations, but some super hard hitting quotes and backstories. You've said that you already feel behind on life, not being able to run that 2nd channel, so i dont expect you to watch or read it, but if theres ever a portion of your life with more free time, i recommend reading it. a wonderful piece of literature as a whole, one of the greatest stories ever written. only gotten to the 2nd opening, you said you are getting happy vibes from it. and if you do think about watching it, i will say, for the most part it is that happy bit, but when it wants to go dark it goes very dark. the backstories are some of the only things in fiction to make me cry.
one piece is very much so (in concept, not practice) a race to the finish style adventure, also i would say one piece is perhaps not the greatest anime, as it's anime does struggle with some things that the manga doesnt, but the manga is one of the greatest. up there with the likes of fullmetal alchemist and berserk. and 25 years later, we the reader do not know what the one piece is. when it get's revealed though, it will be one of the biggest moments in pop culture
"is the one piece togetherness" most likely something along those lines, while the creator said it will be something physical not some "friends we made along the way" type stuff, a lot of fans speculate its much more important than just an array of riches. because the world of one piece has a lot of systematic oppression, and the series itself is very anti-establishment, a lot of people think the one piece is uniting the world together. to link it together, i know the UK has a big pop-punk and punk scene and because you are a musician im sure you're aware of that. so if thats your style this series is great

I'd say One Piece is definitely up there, idk for 100% if it's the reatest though. Ancient Magus Bride, To Your Eternity, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, & One Piece are all my favorites and I think they are definitely up there.
Might want to check out the Breathtaking World of One Piece (pretty spoiler free, and just shows you the world the show plays in). Beyond that, don't let the amount of episodes intimidate you. The story is broken up in various arcs and sagas, allowing you to take it all in in moderation. Beyond that, the overarcing story is what grabs you, and things you are confronted with in episode 60 may come back out of the woodwork when you hit episode 700, bringing storylines full circle. If you do start watching, I recommend toughening it out to episode 40 or so. The series is slow to gain steam, but by episode 40 you should know if it grabs you or not.
One Piece has a relatively slower start, but it gets better as it goes, continually getting better. As this one review video says: "One Piece may not be said to be fast going, but it IS always going, always going towards the same goal." Or something along those lines.
Oh, as a side note for the surnames in this world, they always say the surname first instead of last. So, if Luffy was in America, he'd be Luffy D. Monkey, but in the One Piece world, it's Monkey D. Luffy.
Funny thing is, you talk about how bright and cheery this anime is, but that's only if you stop looking at the surface level. This anime genuinely gets pretty dark at times, and touches on some really messed up themes and topics that most series don't. Like, I don't think anime like Naruto or Demon Slayer get half as dark as One Piece does. Seriously, some of the stuff you see in One Piece is genuinely horrifying if take the time to consder it.

In One Piece, the pirates aren't necessarily all good or evil. Same with the Marines. There's a lot more depth than that, so it's hard to know from openings who's good and who's bad outside of the main cast (which is a good thing)
Luffy has been saying he's going to find the One Piece to become King of the Pirates ever since episode 1. As for what the One Piece is, that's the central mystery of the whole story, that will only be answered at the end of the Grand Line. The One Piece is a thing as confirmed by the author, it's not going to be "the friends we made along the way" sort of thing. However what's unique about Luffy is that he doesn't care if it is, he just wants to go on an adventure with some friends anyway.
For One Piece fans, it's the best manga/anime of all times. For One Piece non-believers it's either mid or bad. And when they say mid, they say it in derrogatory way. I enjoyed your reaction focusing on the music from a technical view. I say focusing on the music, because at times you weren't looking and missed some things, I know you reacted to the visuals and even theorized like a true OP fan does, but in One Piece there are details everywhere and if you miss them, then you'll lack context in the future. It's an ongoing adventure and some things that you see, you'll only get context some several hundred episodes down the line. That's why some people re-read the manga or re-watch the anime. It's a journey.
Oh, and something I saw in another video may help with these openings in regards to copyright. If they're copyrighted, replace their sound with an 8-bit variant of it.^^
I'd say watching/reading One Piece is a bit like watching the openings. Will it revolutionize everything by being flawless no. But will it keep building and expanding without ever feeling like something it is not? Yes, yes it will. It feels like a daunting mountain to climb but once you reach the peak you are kinda sad there isn't more and ate glad that (at least for now) there are still things to come.
Just speaking about numbers, One Piece became last year the second best selling comics (comics and mangas are mixed) in the world surpassing Spiderman and Batman Superman stays on top but One Piece is getting close. I'm talking about superheroes that sells comics since 1950 or around, One Piece has not even half of their age but is already reaching them.... Just Incredible. And so One Piece is by far the best selling manga in the world, really it's not even close.
The only people that call One Piece "mid" are either: immature kids, haven't watched 10 or more episodes, or jealous of the quality and effort put into this weekly show that many seasonal animes dont get.
If you want to watch one peice at your own pace, please allow your viewers to choose certain episodes where you record your reaction. Because we all want to see your reaction to certain episode😊😊.
There's only two opening musics that feels kind of sad and they are this way for a purpose. You * must * watch it to know for yourself. Nevertheless this anime is a rollercoaster of emotions... You go from happy to rage and then you're suddenly sad, but then you're extasiated and then happy again.. PS.: This series is composed in arcs and, excluding the One Piece (the treasure) storyline, each arc is like an anime in itself... I think this is how it can stays relevant through the years... It started in 1999 and is not finished to this day.
The entire One Piece manga is written by a single man Eiichiro Oda, and no, it's not "mid" by any means, it's actually genius, especially the characters, themes and world building. The anime has a lot of weaknesses, mostly because it's an adaptation in the form of a weekly television show, meaning the pacing is often glacially slow.
Instead of letting them cut your videos, overlay 8bit versions of the song. I have seen a few reactor’s using 8 bit versions and its fine for us. You still get to hear the whole song and we get the tune. I hope this helps with your future videos.😊
sad you watched the 60fps version. it really messed up the timing of all the openings for you. Theres bunch of animation across all the openings that was supposed to be punchy and on beat. really showed some great tempo accentuation to heighten the drum hits. glad you liked the music at least!
I'm over 1,000 episodes into One Piece. I'm glad I watched it, and I'm a fan of it, but I must say that it isn't the best show out there by any margin. Its highs are seriously high, but its lows really drag. The pacing can be quite bad too. As for the best anime that I've at least seen? Attack on Titan, and it isn't even close. Highly recommend it.

I like how you analyze the music, to be honest this great story has been accompanying me all my life, from childhood where I saw it on TV, to adulthood, so imagine what this story means to me and to others. At first it may seem very funny, but when it wants it knows how to aim for your heart, I remember how I cried in the Ace arch... it was a trauma for me, but it is something that will become immortal in my opinion

The series is kinda very dark, in an adult way. It's not in-your-face-dark but the themes reflect some real world problems too... like human trafficking and societal oppression, and a lot more.. And the author does address it. It's not noticeable because of the cute character designs 😊 Been a fan of the series since I started reading/watching it 10 years ago. Now I'm 28 and I still love it😭

One Piece very much is a power of friendship good vibes show, but it has some of the most gut wrenching, tear inducing moments as well. The dark moments make the good times shine brighter. Major themes are pursing one's dream, the power of a found family, sacrifice for others, moral vs legal right vs wrong. It's my favorite anime from a plot and character standpoint. It does suffer at times from pacing issues around the midpoint, but it does not suffer from pointless filler like Naruto did (in my opinion).
The second "We Are" at 19:00 is sang by the VAs for the Straw Hat crew.

I started the anime the weekend the live action dropped on Netflix in like September last year. Walked in on the wife trying out the live action, knew I liked it right away, turned around and started anime after less than an episode. Watched to current before new year, and am currently getting manga current, like110 in of like 1100 and counting. If you have the time, do it. Cant recommend it highly enough. Especially as someone who never watched more than the first year of Pokémon whenever that hit, it’s been a great basically introduction to anime as an adult.

I've seen like 300 anime since i started in 2012, only started watching one piece a year and a half ago and for me one piece is the best anime. I'm on episode 940 so i'm super close to catching up. But its just such a great journey. Its just consistently high quality all of the way through.

Actually no one really knows what the One Piece is... But what I can tell is that it is the most mysterious treasure that there is (in that world). It is also the final treasure (when it is found the anime will end). It's like the Saint Graal or the Youth Fountain of legends... The crew just navigate the entire world to find it.
PS.: There were the Pirate King who got his title by finding the One Piece, but he was executed and disclosed the One Piece existance. After him there's Luffy (but not only him) who wants to find this treasure and become the second Pirate King...

We still don't know what the One Piece is! Oda's only said two things about it (to my knowledge).
1. it's not just gold and jewels
2. it's not 'the friends we made along the way' or anything like that
So it's not 'just' treasure, and it is, in fact, 'something' is what we know.
I've not got into the latest arc yet, so I'm not fully up to date - so take my info with a grain of salt, I guess!

Even in the latest arc, we still don't know. Today we have 1116 chapters of Manga and something like 1107 anime episodes.
All we know is that One Piece is a Physical THING (possibly a treasure) hide somewhere in the world by the precedent Pirate King and whoever find it become the New Pirate King
And Luffy's dream is precisely to become the new Pirate King and therefore goes on adventures to find the One Piece
A lot of subplots are treated, most dark like slavery, mass murder and such bad things but it's overall a really happy story
I personally love the first 4 openings because they make you feel so Much the appeal of adventure, the freedom and happyness of being out there with friends ....
If you watch it you will find a feating pace for yourself
Some arc ("seasons") are much longer than other so you will probably take some good pause time to time
I say no further execpt that is really one of the best story ever told by a man

When it comes to anime reactions, despite me not watching your channel, I couldn't help but comment this advice:
Don't stress yourself to put it to a schedule. Go at your own pace and just put your shows into a rotation. That way, your watchers know what will be your next reaction, but you'll get to it when you get to it, so you don't have to rush yourself to fit it in. A lot less stressful that way, I feel.

Don't be daunted by the number of episodes, like most people are. It's supposed to be an adventure you take with the protagonist. Take your time if/when you decide to watch, and don't let people sway your opinion on it. In my opinion, I believe it is the greatest story that is being told. But I digress, you should find out for yourself and enjoy the journey.

I myself have enjoyed this anime so much to the point that I've seen the first 700 or so episodes at least 5 times, am caught up with the anime, and watch a couple reactions to the anime itself. Only watched your reaction to the first opening so far - plan to finish the video obviously, but one piece is such a big series to me. Before watching it i was like "Oh overrated, too long etc" but now that im caught up (1117 chapters later) ive realized its much too short. a life changing anime. most of the big scenes arent the fights, or transformations, but some super hard hitting quotes and backstories. You've said that you already feel behind on life, not being able to run that 2nd channel, so i dont expect you to watch or read it, but if theres ever a portion of your life with more free time, i recommend reading it. a wonderful piece of literature as a whole, one of the greatest stories ever written. only gotten to the 2nd opening, you said you are getting happy vibes from it. and if you do think about watching it, i will say, for the most part it is that happy bit, but when it wants to go dark it goes very dark. the backstories are some of the only things in fiction to make me cry.
one piece is very much so (in concept, not practice) a race to the finish style adventure, also i would say one piece is perhaps not the greatest anime, as it's anime does struggle with some things that the manga doesnt, but the manga is one of the greatest. up there with the likes of fullmetal alchemist and berserk. and 25 years later, we the reader do not know what the one piece is. when it get's revealed though, it will be one of the biggest moments in pop culture
"is the one piece togetherness" most likely something along those lines, while the creator said it will be something physical not some "friends we made along the way" type stuff, a lot of fans speculate its much more important than just an array of riches. because the world of one piece has a lot of systematic oppression, and the series itself is very anti-establishment, a lot of people think the one piece is uniting the world together. to link it together, i know the UK has a big pop-punk and punk scene and because you are a musician im sure you're aware of that. so if thats your style this series is great

My favorite has to be Opening 11.
Might want to check out the Breathtaking World of One Piece (pretty spoiler free, and just shows you the world the show plays in). Beyond that, don't let the amount of episodes intimidate you. The story is broken up in various arcs and sagas, allowing you to take it all in in moderation. Beyond that, the overarcing story is what grabs you, and things you are confronted with in episode 60 may come back out of the woodwork when you hit episode 700, bringing storylines full circle. If you do start watching, I recommend toughening it out to episode 40 or so. The series is slow to gain steam, but by episode 40 you should know if it grabs you or not.

One Piece has a relatively slower start, but it gets better as it goes, continually getting better. As this one review video says: "One Piece may not be said to be fast going, but it IS always going, always going towards the same goal." Or something along those lines.

Funny thing is, you talk about how bright and cheery this anime is, but that's only if you stop looking at the surface level. This anime genuinely gets pretty dark at times, and touches on some really messed up themes and topics that most series don't. Like, I don't think anime like Naruto or Demon Slayer get half as dark as One Piece does. Seriously, some of the stuff you see in One Piece is genuinely horrifying if take the time to consder it.

In One Piece, the pirates aren't necessarily all good or evil. Same with the Marines. There's a lot more depth than that, so it's hard to know from openings who's good and who's bad outside of the main cast (which is a good thing)

Luffy has been saying he's going to find the One Piece to become King of the Pirates ever since episode 1. As for what the One Piece is, that's the central mystery of the whole story, that will only be answered at the end of the Grand Line. The One Piece is a thing as confirmed by the author, it's not going to be "the friends we made along the way" sort of thing. However what's unique about Luffy is that he doesn't care if it is, he just wants to go on an adventure with some friends anyway.

For One Piece fans, it's the best manga/anime of all times. For One Piece non-believers it's either mid or bad. And when they say mid, they say it in derrogatory way.
I enjoyed your reaction focusing on the music from a technical view. I say focusing on the music, because at times you weren't looking and missed some things, I know you reacted to the visuals and even theorized like a true OP fan does, but in One Piece there are details everywhere and if you miss them, then you'll lack context in the future. It's an ongoing adventure and some things that you see, you'll only get context some several hundred episodes down the line. That's why some people re-read the manga or re-watch the anime.

I'd say watching/reading One Piece is a bit like watching the openings. Will it revolutionize everything by being flawless no. But will it keep building and expanding without ever feeling like something it is not? Yes, yes it will.

Just speaking about numbers, One Piece became last year the second best selling comics (comics and mangas are mixed) in the world surpassing Spiderman and Batman Superman stays on top but One Piece is getting close. I'm talking about superheroes that sells comics since 1950 or around, One Piece has not even half of their age but is already reaching them.... Just Incredible. And so One Piece is by far the best selling manga in the world, really it's not even close.

There's only two opening musics that feels kind of sad and they are this way for a purpose. You * must * watch it to know for yourself. Nevertheless this anime is a rollercoaster of emotions... You go from happy to rage and then you're suddenly sad, but then you're extasiated and then happy again..
PS.: This series is composed in arcs and, excluding the One Piece (the treasure) storyline, each arc is like an anime in itself... I think this is how it can stays relevant through the years... It started in 1999 and is not finished to this day.

The entire One Piece manga is written by a single man Eiichiro Oda, and no, it's not "mid" by any means, it's actually genius, especially the characters, themes and world building. The anime has a lot of weaknesses, mostly because it's an adaptation in the form of a weekly television show, meaning the pacing is often glacially slow.

Instead of letting them cut your videos, overlay 8bit versions of the song. I have seen a few reactor’s using 8 bit versions and its fine for us. You still get to hear the whole song and we get the tune. I hope this helps with your future videos.😊

I'm over 1,000 episodes into One Piece. I'm glad I watched it, and I'm a fan of it, but I must say that it isn't the best show out there by any margin. Its highs are seriously high, but its lows really drag. The pacing can be quite bad too.
As for the best anime that I've at least seen? Attack on Titan, and it isn't even close. Highly recommend it.
