Hello, My wife and I are mainly latte drinkers. We like our coffe hot and our milk very dense (no bubbles). Will the Exprelia make such a coffee? I read some comments and I'm afraid we will not be satisfied especially with the milk. Thanks for your help. And BRAVO for youtr very informative videos. Musvin
Hello! Thanks for the video! I like the way you are telling about the machines! Thanks a lot! I am wandering - buying Exprelia for home, is that machine is reliable in the long run? I mean we are intended to DRINK coffee quite often since we are going for a coffee machine. Is that machine will serve for a few years? Or we should go for a more complicated ones? Thanks for your opinion! Andrew.
They do say they will break down the fats/proteins so they work quicker. But I think if you are careful to always clean this you could likely use regular detergent. - Kat
Hi! The first espresso a day (after turning the machine on) tastes worse than all the next ones after it. It weighs 3 grams less than the others and is rather watery. If I look into the tray I can see the first ground is almost dry (it's dry in the middle and a little bit wet on the edge) and it is almost broken up. All the next grounds in the tray look good and firm. What can I do to fix my first espresso a day?
Bitterness is about over-extraction, so you might want to make the grind a little coarser. The coffee length is programmable in the menu, I believe - Kat
What does this icon mean on my Saeco Energica screen? I can’t post the picture 🙁 and it’s hard to describe. Is there a link with screen icons and their meaning? Thankyou
Not really, just that you could program them differently. The actual machine function doesn't change. Look around for other milk cleaner products - we love Rinza and I believe that Saeco now has a liquid instead of a powder available - Kat
That pause is the pre-brewing -- dosing a little bit of water down, letting it hang out and then going full brew pressure, etc. If you're not noticing much of a difference in the flavor, it could be that the coffee you're using isn't as sensitive to that process, that's all. All coffees will react differently, so it's worth experimenting if/when you switch out blends. - Kat
hi.. thanks to your review I just got this today :)... I have a question about coffee length though.. does it just increase the amount of water or does it also make sure more coffee is used?.. I have a feeling it's just diluting my coffee
Dosage is going to be a factor, but both Jura and Saeco have about the same amount of grams to fluctuate between, generally 6-10 grams. The bean/blend will make the most difference. Make sure to only use a medium roast in either, since a dark roast/oily bean will clog it up quickly. Either superauto is a good bet. ~ sam
Kat -- on the Exprelia, is it possible to control the amount of milk/coffee at brew time? From the Xelsis, it seemed like Gail was able to stop the milk at brew time. Is this also available on the Experlia?
I'm wondering if eventually we can get the new Exprelia Evo milk carafe and use it with this machine, as the new carafe seems to foam milk much better and seems to be hotter. I love my Exprelia, but the milk foam quality is not good enough for the cost.
Hello! On some forum I read that the taste of espresso from the coffee machine is much worse, than from pressure coffee maker. I want to go for Xprelia, but have no place in our city where I could try it. So it will be a blind buy. Concerning the price of the machine, I have a question. Can I be sure that a properly adjusted and well functioning machine make a good coffee, and not "a substitution" for espresso, which comes from a pressure coffee maker, not a machine? Sorry for a silly asking!
@hugecookiemonster Hahaha - well, to be fair, Saeco bought a stake in Gaggia and then that stake transferred to Phillips; don't know if Phillips has purchased more or not :) - Kat
@ctheronj DeLonghi's ECAM one-touch is the hottest, temp-wise, one-touch we've tested. The Saeco one-touch is definitely better than the Jura design IMHO; easier to clean, etc. - Kat
Check out the new Exprelia Evo (video review just posted today). It's the best temp / foam wise of the one-touch machines that we've seen so far. Let me know if you have any questions about it after you check out the review. Thanks! - Kat
thanks for the reply... still playing with settings.. I'm still on the bitter side of things... Is it necessary to go all the way on the grinder setting for espresso? could this be causing the bitterness? Also, how would you go about configuring the coffee length
+Ricardo Gómez You are correct, they are very similar machines. The Exprelia has a slightly smaller footprint, if counter space is a worry. The Exprelia also has a slightly larger bean hopper, but a smaller water tank compared to the Prima Donna S.
Seattle Coffee Gear Thanks for the reply. But the cleaning system of the SAECO jug is worthy? I It is something that atract me, auto cleaning antd to the fridge!
Why it foam the milk first and then the coffee when you made cappuccino? can you made first coffee and then milk foam as normall cappuccino made? on this manchine?
@dan1home Under 5 minutes, if you brew a dummy shot to warm things up. Otherwise, if you set it to come on about 20 minutes before you want to use it, you should be nice and toasty. - Kat

that's exactly why I always pour the first coffee down the sink :D

The storage place for milk port cover thingy is actually in the back of the water lid now, so you can pour water in without taking the lid off.
Great, also how long does it take to warm up to optimal brew temperature?
@DilplomaticBarista I just did a bunch of demos on this machine yesterday and there wasn't multiple user profiles to be found. - Kat
@virgilstm It doesn't, unfortunately; none of their newer models in this series have swivel bases :( - Kat

It adds more water but will not increase the dosage (that's the bean setting). - Kat
We haven't seen this yet as an available add-on option, so not really sure ... - Kat

Can this machine be programmed to turn on and off at certain times? If not, does the Xselsis have this feature?
Please, code 05 still on screen impossible with all different steps found on internet to make coffee again. Can you please help
@cdigs Yeah, you can hit the button and stop it mid steam and mid brew - Kat
Hi, which one would you buy, SAECO EXPRELIA or Delongui PRIMA DONNA S? I dont see big differences.
Thanks

You can do either/or with this machine, however you like to prep your coffee. - Kat

@AndrewLagunow Depending on how well you care for it, these machines can have a lifetime of 7 - 10 years on average. - Kat
@dan1home I believe it does! I programmed ours in the store via the menu - Kat
