For years I've wished I could get just the clean & crunch channels of a SLO in an amp. This delivers that and far more!
I only twigged to Soldanos a couple of years ago watching some SLO demos, and the first thing I thought was that they should make a single channel amp that is just channel 1 of the SLO. The cleans to edge of breakup tones are phenomenal, but a lot of us have no use for high gain amp tones so it’s not worth it to buy an SLO.
Awesome to hear the clean and mildly broken tone of the amp. Theres a lot of magic in those areas and this amp is really nice with enormous flexibility.
This is amazing! I lusted for an Astroverb for a decade. Amazing amp. A three channel Astro is just; I have no words!

I'm more of a low to mid gain player, but this amp sounds amazing and would be an extremely useful tool in my studio!

I have a question about this amp. Does the IR direct output factor in the power stage of the amp (like reactive load box built in), or is it the preamp into the IR?
Hi and thanks for your inquiry about the Soldano Astro-20. Impulse response refers solely to the characteristic of the speaker line output of the entire amp (preamp/power amp) to front of house or recording interface. The preamp section and power tubes are dedicated to the overall tone of the amp and its output to the physical speaker.

How’s the master volume range? Does it have a good enough sweep to be usable at bedroom volumes?
Hi, Scott. The amp can certainly be set up with the volume set low to be played at bedroom volume ranges. That said, it’s a tube amp so its best tones will be when the amp is pushing a bit. If you find that you’re unable to get the proper tone and volume level combination, the headphone out with cab IR’s will allow you to use the amp silently while still getting a great sound.

Call me crazy but I still want my amps at 100W.
There are definitely some extra effects on that intro. If it's truly made in America, it's curious why that isn't stated on the amp itself.
They can't fully state that because a number of parts aren't made in the US. Same with Fender, Friedman etc. Fender just puts Corona, California and Friedman says Assembled in the US or something to that effect.
The ASTRO-20 is hand made with pride in the USA.
Now make a pedal like the Friedman IR-X at a similar price point

Was Don playing thru the cab or IR,s?. I am interested in buying the whole setup
I was playing through the mic’d cabinet. No IRs in my demo section. The amp is well-voiced, it sounds really good through a variety of speaker cabs, and the IRs sound good, too!

@@sweetwater I am buying this setup as I go. What is the reverb that Don is using? Also are you using a compressor, brand.? I really like this amp, it has a great chewy tone..
@@chasingtone5748 I had a Wampler Metaverse delay in the FX loop, I think it was on the BBD setting? The only reverb was added in post, a very slight bit of room sound courtesy of the UA Sound City plug-in. No compressor used, just a cable from the guitar to the amp input. The amp has a really great feel and response.

Cool amp. Also, using the phrase "yes, you've guessed it..." and "wait for it..." over and over again is kind of off putting. Tell the script writer to lay off the repetition a bit

Well, nice as it is, and it is nice, I think for the money I'd still rather have a Fractal FM9 and have far greater versatility and amps, effects and cabs and save $300 too. Times have changed and Fractal Audio is the King Ding-a-ling. And for what, $200 more than the Soldano you can get the absolute pinnacle, the Fractal Audio Axe Fx III. Again, not putting down the great Soldano. But sorry, not sorry, you can't beat Fractal Audio. No, you can't.
You can’t beat tube amps.
Everything else is just a compromise.

Don't like my opinion, which also says I think the Soldano is nice, well too bad for you. If I can't state my opinion then neither can you, so go away if you can't act like a grown-up.
@@jonathanm9069 You chose where to invest your cash for what you get. Me, I can't afford a Soldano or the Fractal at the moment and I'm not going to load up the credit card to do it. I didn't put down the Soldano and in fact said I think it's great. I also think the Fractal is greater given the cash spent and what you get. Each to their own. You have a Soldano and love it? That's great, enjoy.

Don't like it - Soldano F'ed up imo. Just one tone EQ on the clean channel is not acceptable and the back end digital amp sim is pointless. I see no point in owning a tube amp if you're going to use it as a full digital modeler. That amp sim modeling section is certain to be a 2nd rate clone of the tube front end. People can get that from any one of the many modelers around. Meanwhile, this amp has Midi that I have no use for but ......no power scaling, reverb or independent EQs for each channel.
