Good interview. Good, honest playing. Tasty pedal. The original SLO pedal has Vol & Gain knobs whereas this Plus version refers to Master & Preamp (each individually adjustable for the two available channels).
@@Skoora this would be great but not it’s in their plans for now. I’m waiting for the Synergy Syn 20 that will have some of X88ir and the preamp modules options.
I think Dave Friedman developed this form factor for his own line of product and already has 3 variant of the IRX line. Mike Soldano might want to develop his own line of product as well. They only combine forces on the Synergy Ecosystem as a generic platform for their brands.
@ What? I think you misunderstood my comment. I said that Soldano should have done this pedal similar how Friedman done the IRX. Give us IRs, separate eqs, multiple outputs, fx loop
@@NicholasGreenwood It's also a real tube preamp. I'd be happy to pay 500 for a proper Soldano SLO preamp pedal with IR capability. Not saying this isn't cool, but considering it's a non tube "distortion" pedal, 270 is kinda expensive right?
@@guitarpunkcovers Considering that the single-pedal SLO is $200 (which is on the high side, but not entirely out of sorts), this pedal adds a second channel for an extra $70. Or you could say it's two overdrives/distortions for $135 each. Multiple outputs, IR capability, and FX loop aren't going to happen at that price point. If Soldano did that (it could happen...) surely the price would be much higher, on par with IR-X.
Hi, kellypeterson2625! Thanks for your message, Happy Holidays! The Soldano Super Lead Overdrive Plus is an amp in a box pedal without speaker impulses. Designed to go in-line on a pedalboard. I’m sure good results can be had going direct without IRs, likely easier to get a satisfactory tone with. Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them! I think the idea is you take the exact tube amp circuit. No power amp, then just recreate the preamp circuit but instead of tubes use something like JFET transistors or some other solid state for each preamp tube stage.
It's a distortion pedal like a Tube Screamer or DS1. It has no tubes at all. Most of the demos are in of this pedal in front of a real tube amp; Michael Neilson also shows the old trick where you can use any distortion pedal into a power amp, they all sound great because the speakers roll off the bass and highs.
Plus...a solid state tube....Correct me if I am wrong but you the circuit is either tube or solid state...or tube EMULATED..but there is NO way it's going to sound like the real deal. If I would take all 13 tubes out of one of my Triamps and replace it with a solid state circuit....would it sound the same??? Hell no!

I love it when you can see the joy in Nick's face as he's playing (7:50 on). Great gear makes you feel more alive somehow.

It's always a great day when Grim Bowcott demonstrates the sounds of metal!
Another amazing product from Mike Soldano!
Great analog pedal. Have to admit I was hoping BAD would have made this similar to the Friedman IR pedals.
IRX is Dave Friedman's design, they only share and collab within the Synergy Ecosystem.
Maybe they’ll do a pedal version of the X88ir?

Well I guess Friedman did the be od pedals etc first before doing the irx. So there's still hope a pedal like irx but soldano could come eventually.
great! I'm waiting for the x88 in pedal format :)
Awesome!
Now they need to release a standalone Normal channel pedal!
Great!! Now I have to buy this because it sounds killer through a deluxe reverb which is what I play…..😂😂
Smart to use a DRRI for the demo.
Is this going into the preamp or is this going into the effect loop?
I would like to hear it used as a preamp into IRs and a power amp.
Should have gone the Friedman IRX route regarding the format. Sounds great tho!

IR-X is $500. This is $270.

Sounds great. How's it sound going direct. Does it need a speaker ir?
Yep - it'll sound like a can of angry wasps without a speaker IR. Mike Nielsen's YT video shows that it sounds great through an IR.

it goes to ELEVEN!!!!11
Wow! This is unbelievable! Really amp like more than anything I've heard
So if i would use this pedal in the loop of my Laney vh100 that has 4x5881 tubes, then I would have a slo amp, I don’t believe it,
Martin Barre .. What ells ?

Ehrm...it's the exact same..minus the 5 preamp tubes? Am I missing something here?
Why would you be missing something? What exactly would you expect it to be?

@andrewtaylor1281 when the $260 pedal is only a pedal approximation and not the literal exact same as a $4000 amp:
😧😠😠😠😠😠
