I had the privilege of working as the studio manager at the Rukkus Room in Berry Hill. Got to see Rob record about a half dozen times. Each session was a clinic from a master. He made the guitar do things I didn’t know a guitar could do. Each riff and tone was always perfect. He is also a hilarious guy and very kind. Yall dive into Rob’s catalogue. He has endless guitar ideas. So happy to see him on this video.
38:52 "I don't use a lot of gain from pedals..." then pause at 57:09 and see every dirt pedal is set to 50% or higher gain/drive - and that Scarab fuzz is at 100% full on fuzz. 🤣We try to convince ourselves we don't need pedals, and yet... 😁 Great rundown, Premier Guitar! Superb player and a hidden gem.
Great RR with Rob. I like how you guys sorta reminded us that most pedal combinations work best if each pedal you use is in it's "minimum" setting capacity. If you're going to stack things, you need to keep them all in check so they don't fight for attention in the mix. Most new players think "more is better", but that is seldom, if ever, the case. Less is usually more, like in "losing the bass".
Class act and yet another GREAT AND AWESOME RR...damn, Rig Rundowns are one of mankind's top-5 inventions, behind the Les Paul, Telecaster & Stratocaster😅
This was fun and interesting! I never get bored of watching and seeing what other guys are using in their rig! thanks John and PG!!!! You guys are great!!!
WOW Never heard of Rob till now. What a Killer humble talent. John Jorgenson told me about Matchless about 30 years ago, I ordered one the exact same colour❤ Still own it.
Yessir, so glad I ran into this, I did not know of this guy, I recently came to know "Uncle Larry" through his "Homeskoolin'" thing. This guy is fantastic also, cool stories, I love it, thanks John, fantasic as usual
That was a sweet rundown, maybe one of the best! I would love to hear just a little how your interview partners set up their guitars. Relief, action aso. Think that would be interesting to hear, but maybe it‘s just me😅
Umm, and the Vibrato system was called a Tremelo. On Stratocasters. Fender named the Tremolo on their amp Vibrato already. Probably why two tone knobs and still forgetting the bridge pickup. Might have drunk a lot of coffee.
@@johnqpublic2718to me it is Always about the guitar player like this amazing player or Desert Rose John Jorgenson / and the Dozens of hits that he has recorded, Albert Lee, James Burton, The Hellecasters, Sonny Landreth, Robben Ford, Danny Gatton, Marc Ford, Brent Mason, Steve Warriner, Shawn Tubbs, and so many others. Jamie Tate's Rukkus Room?
@@jimwarner1187 Yes. Jamie has retired as of August 2024. Rukkus Room has been taken over by David Dorn and is now called Farm Land studios.
So great!!! Keep the Nashville session guitarist rig rundowns coming. These guys are so talented, always have killer gear and are super humble.
Such a killer player. Full of feel and personality and, well, excitement.
Hellll yeah! So great seeing Rob and these other Nashville Session guys getting some Premier guitar love!!
Ryan Wariner, and Justin Butler…two amazing guitar slingers. And Justin does amazing work on vintage amps and effects.
As ever, a great video, John. Really interesting insight to this superb player’s equipment 👍🎸

“Two tone knobs. None of them where you need them.”
Tremendous!!! 😂

Tele story is about as golden as it gets.
Great video .
Great sit down chat as always
Rob is the coolest - total badaas, but comes across as the most down to earth guy!
0:55 those P90's sound INCREDIBLE!!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the SV20H. I had my bright cap snipped out entirely and it really was the icing on the cake
Thank you definitely improved my life
Rob is such a great guitarist and person!!
Loving seeing these session players. Awesome work @Premier Guitar!
I really like Rob. My kinda guy. Thanks gentlemen.

I love Rig Rundown!!!!
I heard Rob has the MOSt MOStortions.
MOSt people would say that
One of my all time favourite players,.........

Thoroughly enjoyed this one
awesome video, great guy and a killer musician! when is Guthrie Trapp's one coming out? I think he mentioned it 6 months ago on his channel
Great interview! Love Rob
Chirpy slide sounds so good
Love you, Rob!
Very sweet and funny guy.. that known much about classic tones.. and cool skills
“Less gain = more rock”….I love it. Ya’ll should read “Behind The Glass”.
Good lighting
Love this!
Rob, you are the coolest bro!
Oh I want. The p90 gold top
Giving Meshuggah’s tech “yeah yeah” a run for his money at 6:30 😂
This guy's legit!
Rick uses a Paul Rivera Modified Deluxe Reverb. So did every studio in the 70s. In L.A.

6:59 lol, which one has the freshest strings. Very true.
Hey I use 12's and 13's on my strat also!!
"two tone knobs and none where you need it" FACT!!
Umm, and the Vibrato system was called a Tremelo. On Stratocasters. Fender named the Tremolo on their amp Vibrato already. Probably why two tone knobs and still forgetting the bridge pickup. Might have drunk a lot of coffee.
Those ultex picks are awesome
I remember Tom saying, "Man, you've got to move to Nashville"
the pickup in the rubber bridge is most likely a Artec pickup you can get them for like 20 bucks.
I can get u one for 80
How does JB look like a giant sitting right next to this man?
29:37 PLEASE get Ryan on!!
Haha. Wow. I have two cabs with ET-65s and because of their price and somewhat lack of notoriety, I haven’t really given them a fair chance.
First! stoked for this
That Silvertine sounds really "synth like"!...
Hunter S. Thompson and Bill Burr had a child?
What minimalist brand are those shoes?
Blundstones!
"enbiggenate" lol
The tele story was cool as hell.
The rubber bridge fad is stupid. They sound like shit! They remind me of a bad xylophone sound
Proof that great & really cool guitarists can contribute to some of the worst country music ever made. It's a paycheck.
There's some pretty terrible country music on the radio these days, but it's not all bad everywhere else. There's always been both.
