The Player II version of Fender’s legendary Telecaster showcases value-packed upgrades and increased comfort for gigging musicians, singer-songwriters, home-studio creators and more. Playability has been improved with a rosewood (rather than pau ferro, as on the 2018 Player series model) or maple fingerboard with super-smooth rolled edges. Tuning ease and integrity are enhanced with Fender ClassicGear tuning machines with a precise 18:1 gear ratio. The wow factor gets a boost with timeless Fender finishes, as well as new, vintage-inspired colors never-before-seen on production models. The Player II Telecaster also features an alder body, modern C-shape neck, 22 medium-jumbo frets, Alnico V Tele single-coils and a six-saddle string-through-body bridge.
“The cultural significance of the Telecaster is massive,” says jazz guitarist and former prodigy (he was the subject of a music documentary at eight years old, played the Grammy Awards at 12 and became a faculty member of the Stanford Jazz Workshop at 15) Julian Lage. “One of my gods is Jimmy Bryant-an early adopter of the Telecaster-and his touch, tone, facility and conception on this instrument is everything I associate with the modern jazz guitar player. Because the Tele is a solidbody, the expressiveness and nuance of everything I play goes directly to the pickups. That was a big win as the Telecaster dug me deeper into the world of jazz. The Player II Telecaster speaks to what I like about all Telecasters-something that’s balanced and comfortable to play, and that has the right tonal ratio between attack and a blooming warmth.”
Just like the Player II Stratocaster, the Player II Telecaster is available in chambered ash and chambered mahogany versions.

Guitar genius at work!! I could listen to Julian just talk about guitars all day…. So nice to hear his playing which I would class as ‘’considered, gentle awesomeness’’. Of course, I want one of these Teles now!

Well you certainly picked the right guy to demo this guitar. I'm interested in what that HH tele sounds like too.

Leo was a goddamn genius. He nailed it the first time out. Then he nailed the Strat. Then he nailed the p bass, jazz bass, and musicman bass. Plus jazzmaster and every amp.
A GENIUS ON PAR WITH TESLA.

Fender made a wise decision to get Julian to demo the new Player II Telecaster. He's such a great player and humble person. These guitars look great. Definitely a plus bringing back the rosewood boards and more traditional style tuners. If the quality control is good these are a no-brainer. If I didn't already have a great Tele already I'd definitely be looking closely at these!

Julian would be the only reason I buy this…. I do need a new Tele.
Seeing him play at Village Vanguard NYC sometime last year was an absolute treat.

I own one, and having a Strat, ES 339, Les Paul
before I got the Tele. When I got it….
wow, I couldn’t believe how good that guitar
was. Just as it is explained in this presentation.
I can only agree with what it’s said.
Because I had and made exactly those experiences. The neck « C modern » nothing can beat that shape….just beyond perfect.
I love my Tele player I, very much. You can’t go wrong, if you buy one.
