If you want more of a traditional stand that actually sits on top of a normal entertainment stand, look for the Sanus VSTV2. Fits up to 80'' and the bottom can rise up to eight inches for sound bars, and I think it can be lowered to around three inches or so (relatively the same as a typical LG stand on their lower model TVs). Ironically, the optional G3 stand from LG is pure trash and nowhere near as good as their standard ones that come with their other TVs. It also causes the G2/G3 to lean back. No thanks.
I've been using LG C1 for over a year now, and given that I've got windows on the opposite side of the room from the TV, I have never had to use peak brightness at all. You can literally set it to auto and forget about it. If the G3 is brighter than the C1, and I assume it is, I can not think of a situation where you'd actually need that much of brightness in the first place. Sure, it may look dark if you compare it to the other brands that are standing next to it on a shop window, but in a typical daily use, you would never need a screen that bright.
Not only the entire screen is brighter, the HDR highlights. 1000 NIT is the standard for HDR movies. Again not the whole screen. Could be the stars or Sun in the sky, headlights….
well, you 2 have convinced me to go with the G3. I currently have a C2, but I need to move it to a different room due to having to give our eldest son a new TV at his place. So bonus for me!!! 2 new TV's in the space of 8 months (thankfully, I only paid $1,200 AUD for my C2). I am very excited about the G3 supporting DTS pass through to hook up to my Sonos ARC. I'm also close to making the decision and upgrading my one's to ERA 300's.

Thanks for the review, I read somewhere that MLA was only for the 77 inch version? Is tha true or is it also in the 55 and 65 inch version? And which size were you reviewing?
Nice review, thanks. You seem to have a very similar taste in visuals to me. Very much looking forward to seeing reviews of the new MZ2000 and the A95L
Just bought myself a 55" G3 for £1579 with a Techscheme voucher through my employer (brand new from Currys). Feel like that's a great price. Sony A95L was £1120 more, which just isn't worth it.
So if LG G3 is a step above the Sony a80l and if the price is almost similar. Indeed it is lower LG G3 is it better to take the LG G3 compared to the Sony a80L without thinking twice or not?
LG G3 OLED vs Sony A80L OLED 83INCH MODELS HELP, can't decide on which TV to purchase. I am putting this in my living room that has 20 ft ceilings and only windows that are up about 15-17ft high. The room is brighter in the day but the sunlight never hits the wall where we plan to mount the TV. We as a family only watch TV at night. We stream and watch movies with the Sonos Arc, Eras 300's and Sonos Sub Gen2. Which model is best in your opinon and why ? I feel like I'm splitting hairs on this decision but the only difference for us is that the G3 (83" does not include the MLA technology) is brighter than the Sony A80L. Appreciate the help.
I’m looking to get an 83” version of the C3 or G3. Since the 83” of the G3 is missing the MLA tech would it be better to get the C3 83 in and save some coin? Trying to future proof for at least 5 years but it crushes me they didn’t use MLA in the 83”. Lame.
The remote is one reason I am looking at LG ... you have to click click click to get what you want ... just point and click done. My son has one and I love the system. I hate my Sony 65inch system. Yep ... sorry I purchased the high end last year.
Excellent review. There's a few considerations that would make me also consider the G3. Much better Wifi and Bluetooth performance and also there's some eveidence from RTINGS that QD oleds are more prone to burn in compared to W oleds.
Mate the one distraction I had during the video is your a Chelsea fan if only Tod boehly could review players as good as you review tvs 😂 good review of the tv mate 🙂
It's a 120hz panel that plays 100hz in the UK. Also, if you're going to get an 83'' you may as well just get a C3 since the 83'' G3 doesn't have MLA. I also miss a good old fashioned sturdy TV remote. The LG E6 had a fantastic remote, but all of the step down models from the E series and then basically *all* of their TVs the following years up to now have had that cheap "magic" remote that just doesn't have any heft to it. It functions, but it doesn't feel great to use. Also, who cares about maximum potential brightness if you have to cheat and use a crappy mode that overall makes the picture worse looking just to reach those hypothetical numbers? Hitting 2040 nits? It might do that in "Vivid" mode on a 5% window but the highest it can actually go on a 5% window in a real picture mode is 1400, which is still impressive. At least LG isn't lying about the 1400 figure though, because other calibrators have measured it to be approximately that.
Does it state anywhere in the manual or on the product description that it has MLA? Seems odd that everyone is saying the 55, 65, and 77 models have it but the 83 doesn't. But where is the proof of that?
It's the more refined television relative to the S95C, maybe. But the S95C has better hardware. Give that Hardware to Sony and you have a better TV than the G3.
Was going to buy S90C, but in my country (Sweden) there's no panel warranty and our biggest tech store (Elgiganten) offers a 5 year warranty but doesn't cover burn in if Samsung doesn't. The S90C imo has the better picture. Was in contact with LG today and got confirm through phone and email that they cover burn in within 5 year. So I'm going to that instead.
I got a great deal on a G3 and paid $500 more than the A80L for a 77". I'm certain the A95L is worth $500 more than the G3 (sticker price) but I think the gap will be much larger soon come the holidays as the G3 will get discounted more than Sony. LG has done a great job developing their processing and while Sony is still better once you get the G3 setup its amazing. Also I'm pretty sure you need the AI brightness on in Cinema Home to make Dolby Vision IQ function as intended
I had gone to showrooms amd a80l amd g3 were played side by side. To be honest i could'nt see much brightness difference maybe it was nlt set to full.. but other thing which could also be seen in this video, is because of higher brightness g3 has bad color accuracy and a yellowish tinge to every scene where faces appear more yellow. Sony a80l had perfect colors and looked better..so im not sure for what higher brightness is suited more ? If just higher brightness one needs better to go for QLEDs, there also color accuracy and picture quality would be compromised to some extent..
G3 much better than QN95C, I saw G3 QN95C side by side in the store, G3 almost has the same brightness QN95C and G3 is a oled, you know what it mean? Just go to G3.
I would also go with the G3 since you're going to get Dolby vision along with perfect blacks Plus the G3 really does get bright compared to many other OLEDs of the past Like subjectively it's enough that you can really see it and it pops in the way and LCD would pop to some extent. (Not on full screen brightness but certainly on highlights for HDR I will save this TV is mostly just going to be used for gaming , LCD makes more sense. I don't know anyone that games in a pitch-black room. With the lights on it's you're o be hard-pressed to tell the QN in is not an OLED. Yu're going to completely avoid burn in this way and get much more full-screen brightness to boot. I own is C1, also like Samsung for what it's worth so no major bias here If it's mixed content and you're going to do some darkroom viewing get the G3 if it's mostly a gaming sports TV that you're going to use mostly during the day I would go with the Samsung QN.
@@paulcox2447 Thankyou very much for your indepth response. It was very helpful and helps me decide between the two. Full screen brightness and gaming performance is something im very keen on so what you said about this is very interesting.
Sony have released the price for the 77X95L in UK....we're getting ripped off, sorry I'm definitely not prepared to pay an outrageous price....shame on you Sony.
Well it just makes sense, usually new revolutionary tech cost super hight at first to cash out on those idiots who got money to burn, then after some time it reducces so it can cash out from the more general audience market and repet. So consider that they selling the the FIRST and ONLY QD-OLED at 77, well- might has well cash out from the inpatient crowd firdt and then lower it to the general public after, Maximum profit!!
I could careless if it’s oled of the year but I’m very impressed with it , from the design, build quality, processors image quality, and brightness. I don’t really see how these TVs that came out so early will be competing with a tv that comes out in September after tweaking their model after comparing to the others. Either way it’s great that oled technology overall has improved, especially at the cost!
Better wait LG G4 OLED coming with 2gen MLA OLED panels with 144hz panel and 3000nits brightness and new powerful alpha 10 processor with neural engine technology
the reason I don't even look at qd-oleds is the burn in acceleration. If you baby your tv to death and won't be playing video games, i agree that qd-oled is the better choice, but i focus on longevity, hence why either the G3 or x95k is gonna be the one i buy
10:22 That's just misleading and stupid... The logo brightness adjustment literally dimms logo's so they won't burn in so easily, thus it literally does the opposite of what you said (too bright, when it makes them dimmer...) 🙄
Bro the tv is $4,500 for the 77 inch. It’s is 1000% the best tv in the world. The only ppl that’s will enjoy it more is those who buy it when it gets cheaper in 3 years.
So base on your logic- “just get the cheaper C2, paying over a grand more for …. … for what again? Hu..? ….. for- a slighty better chip? Yea ig- that MAKES NO DIFFRENCE is dumb” bruh c mon like atleast the g3 has mla even if it is over price the c3 on the other hand? Has? … what again?

I got a great deal on a G3 and paid $500 more than the A80L for a 77". I'm certain the A95L is worth $500 more than the G3 (sticker price) but I think the gap will be much larger soon come the holidays as the G3 will get discounted more than Sony. LG has done a great job developing their processing and while Sony is still better once you get the G3 setup its amazing. Also I'm pretty sure you need the AI brightness on in Cinema Home to make Dolby Vision IQ function as intended
I'll keep that tip in mind.
Sony Bravia TVs you pay more for better experience but they use Mediatek SoC 2 HDMI 2.1 ports only downside
@@RobertK1993definitely not worth the more money plus this tv better with gaming if you game
Hi what lg sound bar would you recommend with this TV?
I had gone to showrooms amd a80l amd g3 were played side by side. To be honest i could'nt see much brightness difference maybe it was nlt set to full.. but other thing which could also be seen in this video, is because of higher brightness g3 has bad color accuracy and a yellowish tinge to every scene where faces appear more yellow. Sony a80l had perfect colors and looked better..so im not sure for what higher brightness is suited more ? If just higher brightness one needs better to go for QLEDs, there also color accuracy and picture quality would be compromised to some extent..
Are you suggesting that the 77 inch has MLA?
You only mentioned the 83 inch when saying what does not have MLA?
Where did you get the stand from? I am looking for one for the 77".
Wat stand are you using for it?can u link it
funny how the Closed Caption call LG ...ALGAE🤣
I was going to wait for the A95L but since the eARC is one of the it’s only two HDMI 2.1 ports my only option is G3 or S95C. G3 it is!
Which wood slats do you use behind the tv? Thank you
LG G3 the best
Went to the store, couldnt find the Al-G there
Which sound bar would you suggest for the TV set?
I've got the Samsung Q990B with my 77" G3. Amazing sound. An all round fantastic setup!
Im really stuck between the lg g3 77 inch or the panasonizmz200 77 inch only issue is pana dosent have a mla panel
Will you please do a review on the samsung s90c? Thanks!
Where did you find that stand?
What sound bar would you recommend for a G3?
any Sonos soundbar or Nakamichi
Thankyou for the awesome review. I would love to see you compare the QN95C mini led with this tv. Im stuck on the two of them and just cant decide.
G3 much better than QN95C, I saw G3 QN95C side by side in the store, G3 almost has the same brightness QN95C and G3 is a oled, you know what it mean? Just go to G3.
I would also go with the G3 since you're going to get Dolby vision along with perfect blacks
Plus the G3 really does get bright compared to many other OLEDs of the past
Like subjectively it's enough that you can really see it and it pops in the way and LCD would pop to some extent. (Not on full screen brightness but certainly on highlights for HDR
I will save this TV is mostly just going to be used for gaming , LCD makes more sense.
I don't know anyone that games in a pitch-black room. With the lights on it's you're o be hard-pressed to tell the QN in is not an OLED.
Yu're going to completely avoid burn in this way and get much more full-screen brightness to boot.
I own is C1, also like Samsung for what it's worth so no major bias here
If it's mixed content and you're going to do some darkroom viewing get the G3 if it's mostly a gaming sports TV that you're going to use mostly during the day I would go with the Samsung QN.
@@paulcox2447 I was a samsung TV fans before, QN95C QN95B S95C is good.G3 change everything.
@@paulcox2447 Thankyou very much for your indepth response. It was very helpful and helps me decide between the two.
Full screen brightness and gaming performance is something im very keen on so what you said about this is very interesting.
Anyone know if this LG model series available in the US? Thanks!
Sony have released the price for the 77X95L in UK....we're getting ripped off, sorry I'm definitely not prepared to pay an outrageous price....shame on you Sony.
Good old Sony tax!
Just picked up a 65 inch demo g3 model , for about 1200 pounds
Sorry, but could you let me know the model number of the Sony tv you mentioned at the start. Couldn’t catch it - thanks!
A95K, absolutely destroys the G3...
@@bigcdub Thanks!
A80L
What happened to panasonic? A decade ago they were in the same conversation with lg, samsung&sony.
They dont sell tv no more and got bankrupt hence they quite out
@@gsst6389 they are too big to go bankrupt ryt?
I could careless if it’s oled of the year but I’m very impressed with it , from the design, build quality, processors image quality, and brightness. I don’t really see how these TVs that came out so early will be competing with a tv that comes out in September after tweaking their model after comparing to the others. Either way it’s great that oled technology overall has improved, especially at the cost!
Is this a good TV for watching shows like the Golden Girls and Small Wonder and Alf?
so does that mean you care?
A95 is fine in dark room and more realistic picture
Sony A95L or this G3...which ones better pic quality ?
We are currently testing the A95L, so stay tuned for an in depth review & G3 comparison.
@@smarthomesounds thank you for your response 🙂
Who watches it on vivid? The used G1 I picked up on Marketplace is already so bright I need to turn its settings way the hell down.
Watch this on my 65 G3
Tv of the year by some margin!!
I just bought a 77'' LG G3 with 2900euro, the Sony A95L is 4900euro, so.....there is no comparation !
Better wait LG G4 OLED coming with 2gen MLA OLED panels with 144hz panel and 3000nits brightness and new powerful alpha 10 processor with neural engine technology
You should really mention that if you watch a lot of Dolby Vision, Samsung non-starter.
Thank you
This TV is so bright you will never need a "backlight" to read the buttons on the remote in a dark room.. just saying..
for the quality control and sfter sales service, I would choose sony rather than LG.
True but LG better with console/pc
Got the 77 S95c for £1400 less than the G3 & it’s a stunning tv. For sheer value for money it was a no brainer for me.
I recently got a 65in s95b for $1500. Great deal awesome TV the s95 is
the reason I don't even look at qd-oleds is the burn in acceleration. If you baby your tv to death and won't be playing video games, i agree that qd-oled is the better choice, but i focus on longevity, hence why either the G3 or x95k is gonna be the one i buy
Wow, the S95c is amazing TV, one of the best Tvs of the year! You can go wrong with either. Makes sense to go with whichever is less....
@@Ben-fq1ljJust get a warranty
@@NexGenTek as far as im aware sony nor samsung offer burn in warranty
First like and comment on the post 😁😁
Why would LG G3 be better then Sony Bravia A95L QD OLED is video processing Alpha gen IV better than XR
Netflix audio levels are low on WebOS 23
If you're a gamer, read up in game mode picture issues before you buy.
10:22 That's just misleading and stupid... The logo brightness adjustment literally dimms logo's so they won't burn in so easily, thus it literally does the opposite of what you said (too bright, when it makes them dimmer...) 🙄
haha. I was just looking at the comments for someone to spot this mistake made by this guy.
He has no idea what he was taking about lol
Yes, this is top TV in 2023. I still wan't the 55". I'm waiting for another price drop around Columbus day.
why would someone buy a G3 and then put in energy saving mode? that's like getting a ferrari and deactivating 6 of the 12 cylinders...
wondering if the MLA layer can be added to QD OLED's
Maybe not, since MLA focuses the light of only the white sub pixel. With QDOLED every sub pixel is emissive so individual lenses wouldn’t make sense.
