This man showed me the power of a console. I just didn’t get it until I watched him work. Testing and adjusting the whole mix in real time is so key, we need to return to it.
this man is not just a mixer he is for me a musician and artist!!! whose handwriting you can immediately hear and recognize because he has been doing it for so long and has simply mastered this craft !!!!Big respect to youre Art!!!
@@TM42 To that end, when CLA is shitting on a mouse and PC versus a large console, YES, hands on is best, but you can fit that HUGE console inside that laptop and create automations to achieve largely the same outcome. He knows and is comfortable with a console mixer. Some are better suited due to their own comfortability with a all digital interface.
CLA is real good, but what is important to say as well is its easier to be a great mixer when you work with real good takes or recordings. In our mediocre home studios mixing badly recorded tracks is always harder to get good final results in no time no matter how your ears are trained:)
This is very true. But also it's sort of good everyone has to go through the "fix it in the mix"-phase. You get to know the tools and tricks inside and out.
He's a genius but all of this only makes sense when you have top notch tracks recorded by top assistant engineers who edited and pre eq-ed and pre-compressed everything to the smallest detail
That's why I use reasons they have the SSL mixer and I use hardware mimic plugins and i run it through a twin apollo PC and I'm getting a 1996 death row sound. And also just got mixbus 32c and I was blow away how I'm getting a 1990 analog sound in my home studio wait correction my laptop 💻 studio.
So, no information on how or where these tracks were recorded, how long it took and what Chris did to get them to this point. This is more an advertisement for SSL gear than it is breakdown of a MIx.
Dude do you realize what youtube channel you're on? This IS an advertisement for SSL and the reality is it's a good one. (I actually have an SSL Bus+ arriving tomorrow).
So are all the fader and knob moves he’s doing constantly throughout writing automation? He said in another video that he doesn’t do much automation so I guess it’s not automation and just him dialing in the sounds over the course of the song?
Seems like a commercial for SSL. Good info here but not sure how many people can afford a setup like that. And considering how many good mixes I've heard "using a mouse", I'd say that that setup is a bit overkill. And lastly, everytime I see these instructional sort of mix videos, it's always a huge bombastic blaster song that's being demonstrated. Not a lot of dynamics at all in that tune. Its just LOUD.
the last version was in MONO so that is a problem for several reasons.scary, many did not notice! They fixed it!! Even the mighty Sweetwater makes mistakes.
I get the feeling this guy is a bit out of touch - all of the other hardware is unnecessary in the world we are living in now. However, his waves vocal product is great. It was made ages ago but it can be used on everything.
One have to use the tools which suit their workflow the best. Even though in some videos showed he can do mixes with a mouse and a keyboard as well, doesnt mean he neither like or want to work that way.
why is it out of touch that his preference is to mix with his hands instead of a mouse. Its not about what is necessary or not, its his preferred workflow.

First time hearing Chris praise Andy Wallace! both are a big inspiration!

And a Wizord
Sweetwater, i personally thank you for providing us with the best people in the audio industry
I find Mitch walking out of the frame amusing every time.
CLA is a king! Thanks for mentioning Andy, that was a true compliment!
His Green day songs mix is amazing great.
It's refreshing to actually here a pretty good song on one of these!
Holy crap those lead vocals sound amazing.
He is an actual master of his craft.
Hes a boomer with amazing gear

Absolute truth.. You spend more time mixing a song that has been recorded badly
Lmao he started playing the song and I was like, this is already mixed, you're just throwing in some color
@@beckerzineo same i thought, actually the last 5 minutes were just for the show, he's improving almost nothing 😂😂
People never believe that until they must learn this lesson the hard way ;)

Greetings from Florida. I like the singer's voice. It's as if the singers of Crash Test Dummies and Queensryche are singing it together.
I’m pretty sure that second voice is Geoff Tate from Queensryche.
the stereo fix reupload. Thanks
even CLA never afraid hits red. love his approach to mix the Drums.
I truly love and trust Mr CLA system & workflow. Great results and career. Thanks for the video! Greetings from Cuba!
Good thing they re-uploaded this one, the first upload was mono.
Venderlo all'opera è uno spettacolo!
Thank you your are my best instructor. I love the way you think the final result. Less is more or best it is also my way.
CLA missed his calling to up-sell clear coat on used cars.
Yes he did sir, yes he did!
The perfect belly
Thank you Master CLA

I’ve never seen CLA standing up 😂
CLA went with the "black shirt, hat and cross necklace"- look this time. nice!
CLA is a magician! Sheesh 🤯
My man is not taking any reference, what a guy
unbelievable sound .. absoulte masterclass. thanks so amazing !
Thanks for this!

wow stereo upload is SO MUCH BETTER
Is the Small Controller on his left (The channel strip like) available for purchase separately?
yes
I sure would love to know what effects were used on Geoff Tate’s vocal chain?
Wow, fun!
song??
Slammin' song! Is it being released in the near future?
It's Legend on work But the mix was clipping why?
Mitch Lord Gallagher sounds regal ! We should all do that.

So bass was never mentioned?
Hi what subwoofer is he using ? . I see it under the desk but is too far to see the brand .
Wow

CLA Does!!!
Hear a huge difference on CLA's console. Plugin not s much. Maybe on bass...
Thats a tight ass shirt !! 😂lol
Super 👌 extraordinary
Didn't he premix though like he said? .
where's my catalogue?
I wonder how many 42 yr old men with fantastic paying jobs went out and bought this board after watching this video...
I’m 43 years old and don’t forget good looking but yeah… just bought it.

You can't make music with a mouse!
Good thing I'm just mixing 🤣
reupload?
That sounds like an Ayreon song.
The Origin was 49k.... now is 59k 🤷♂️
First taste at the new Tate music!!
I didn't know Donald Trump was a mix engineer! 😬🤣
Just kidding Chris lol
19:55. Hope that vocal tuning mess up doesn’t make it on the album.
Great catch!
Sorry Dude but FT is Fuckin Tambourine.
😂😂😂
As much of a legend he is, his outlook on analog vs digital is a very closed minded boomer outlook, lol.
Foot or Kick
Name the tracks with 4 letters, names kick, foot lol
Haha That was My take away too
These consoles are going the way of the horse buggy.
I’d give My left arm to have Him mix My tracks.
No No you wouldn't . Everyone missing a limb will accept your Apology.
Why so dramatic? Just pay him money.
CLA was the perfect choice for subtly pushing purchasing hardwate from sweetwater haha.
