@@exeterrider I'm receptive to these new kids on the block bikes as the Chinese etc certainly have improved things (I know this bike is from S.Korea). Plus the budget conscious among us have to consider credible alternatives to the mainstream brands. This is why I enjoy these honest to goodness reviews - the good, the bad and the ugly, it all helps to make an informed purchasing decision.

    Hi ER.
As someone who is totally new to all this two wheeled malarky I found this review very informative.
After watching the video I was left wondering about the concept of engine size and to a lesser degree the dimensions and weight of a bike.
First off at what point does a bike become unwieldy? Anything above 250cc perhaps?
Secondly why do you suppose present day bike manufacturers seem to steer away from 150cc, 160cc or 175cc machines?
Would these examples not give the rider a bit more Umph if needed without losing the general "Zippyness" of a 125cc?
    Thanks.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  5 месяцев назад +1

Hi and welcome to biking...nothing I like more than hearing of folk getting into it... You have so much to look forward too I assure you!
I think a bike becomes a little more heavy (considering your a new rider) around 500cc. Manufacturers won't make those other class of bikes due to it being to close to the learner legal class of the 125cc so its pointless....For example if you ride a 125cc it feels the same speed ,with only slight power gain you would get from a 200cc or 250.
The VanVan by Suzuki is a good example ,they made a 125cc but the 200cc didn't have too much more power to it.
That being said, 125cc to 150cc is quite a jump, and from the 2 bikes i have ridden that are 150cc I kinda wish they would change the rules to go 125 to 150 cc.
I wish you all the best, enjoy the ride!

There’s no other 125cc with 14 bhp that does 70+? Completely different styling, granted... But the R125 does 75-80 mph with 15 bhp.
With the right gearing, this should do 65-70 mph without using the full rev range. As stated in the video, the gearing, especially that 5th gear, really needs to be adjusted to make it more useful. It’d make it a ton more practical at dual carriageway riding, particularly on long distances.
Depending on how bad the acceleration is standard, I’d try putting an extra tooth or two on the front cog to see how that goes. Since he has a full license, maybe even look at moving up slightly in size on the cylinders. Obviously not anything to where it’d cause too much strain on the engine. I’m talking going from 125cc to maybe 134cc between both cylinders. Of course, this will depend on the all heads. If you can get some sort of power commander for it, that’d be of benefit also.
I understand the whole “it’s a 125 argument”. But just because you want a better riding experience, doesn’t mean you want a larger bike & the weight that comes with it. You can always make that 125 something you want to keep, without putting up with the negatives.

@@exeterrider I was looking at the 300cc version after this, they look exactly the same tbf?
If it’s the case as with the Lexmoto Adrenaline, being the 250cc is exactly the same as the 125cc… It may just make more sense to get that and ‘over’ gear it. The weight difference should be very minimal, but the power difference will be massive. I’d say that pretty much is the 125cc without the negatives! I know you mentioned at low revs on the 300, it can be a bit pokey… But slap a tooth or two on that, hopefully that should even it out.
For a first time rider, the 125cc still seems brilliant! I’d still drop a tooth or two on the front of that to help the top end… But that’s mainly down to personal preference. A lot of of my riding would cover around 160 miles, with about 100 of them being on the A38. I definitely wouldn’t want to be sitting in the top of the rev range for all that time, so it’d be a change I’d have to make!
I think I’m slightly falling in love with these bikes though, the video’s are really tempting me to get one! I really loved the style of this video in particular too! I could see you doing this style at a top level, with cinematic closeup’s of the bike, etc… Personally, I’d say you’d make a great host for a bike oriented TV show similar to that of Top Gear/The Grand Tour! It’d be perfect!

@@TheFakeNewsFrog Thanks, thats the dream. I could do so much more if I didn't have to keep the day job running and could do this full time. I preferred riding the 125 compared to the 300. It was so much more smoother. But the 300 did have nice power I must admit.

    • @TheFakeNewsFrog

@@exeterrider Well that settle’s it then! I’d keep the cc smaller and put that extra £1K you save into fixing the negatives of the 125!
It would of made a lot more sense to redesign the engine to cater towards the 300 better. But I guess that adds a ton to the manufacturing cost…
