I've had a 2006 GV250 for 10 years. It's a great commuter bike and done longer trips too. She's got over 70,000 Kms on the odometer and aside from being garaged for about 4 years due to COVID and family reasons and an issue of needing the carbs cleaning after it was parked she's back on song and holds her own with a lot of mid sized bikes. Sure there have been the odd niggles and bits that needed patching up, but if you keep up on the basic maintenance they are a solid, bullet proof bike. Keep them clean and polished and the rust stays at bay. Tyre wise I use Bridgestone Batlax and they do grip better. On the motorway I still find myself looking for 6th gear at times as the engine seems like it could do with it, but in 5th it copes with the hills, mountains and passes cars easily enough for a 250.
Have had a few Hyosung's. Still have my son's2010 GT250 (naked version) in the garage, had it since 400km, done 22000km's. Currently repairing after getting stolen. A couple of issues to be aware of. Wheel bearings are flakey knock off's, change em out before they fail. The 250's are hard on oil, change it regularly, as it tends to get burnt and goes all watery (done ours around 3-4km). Lastly, check the electrical relays, the buggers will fall out as clips are shocking, easy fix, put cable ties around them, no further issues. Cheers from the Taranaki
Thanks mate, you are right about oil, i changed it about 1000km ago and it now slips in to all the gears nicely again. Only had 1 electical issue and yhat was the regulator failed, other than that its been all good. I keep an eye on my bearings and so far so good ( might have been changed before i got it) if they start to get stiff or crunchy I'll change em for sure!
Its kinetic energy that does the killing of anything impacting into anything else. More often than not, the motorcyclist into something else, like someone making a left hand turn in front of them. I had an ephiphany watching videos of lane splitters, that your best defensive strategy was to do the exact opposite of them, and not be as proximate to other cars as possible, but rather put a much space at all times between you and other vehicles, because you as the motorcyclists were always going to be on the losing end of any impact regardless who was at fault. In other words, if you regularly would maintain 5 car lengths of braking distance between you in a car and another car... increase that to 25 car lengths while you were on a motorcycle. In fact, don't stop at 25 car lengths, chose to put as much space as possible between you and everyone else. If they're not there, you can't hit them. This also applies chosing the time of destination and time of day. For example, one Walmart is directly into town for me and every other store... but in the other direction, through empty countryside, is another. If I just need to go to Walmart, I chose the store in the direction through countryside where there is no traffic at all. If I go to the other one, I can pick a time of day that avoids me traveling around 5pm when everybody is driving like a madman switching lanes bumper to bumper after work to get home. You kind of realize when driving for decades, as a motorcyclist you have to switch up your thinking from that of a car... just get in and go like in bumper cars. Because now you're more like a little kid not in a bumper car without protection dodging drivers that are in bumper cars on a bumper car floor in a bumper car world. Who was right and who was wrong when you run into each other don't matter after a collision if you're dead or injured. You're playing one spicy Russian roulette high stakes game every time you jump on your bike with the arbitrary randomness of other people and reality.
Mine does 145kph on the dial which is about 130-135 real, which is more than the legal speed limit and it's nice and comfortable and sounds good as it's a V-Twin.

I had a Honda 250 rebel that had a couple of mods a Singal seat it was so comfortable to ride I'm 6 ft tall and it was cheap to ride to work and town I would ride it on a long distance it did 100 KMs easy and really never took it pass that and the Gv Housing Gv 25 is a good bike it's not a long distance cruiser and the 650 housing 650 would be the way to go for long distance I m now 65vand looking maybe a Gv 250 housing or 650 housing cruiser just for city running and short runs
I drove a baja phoenix 250 from santa barbara Ca to Toas NM...through the mojave...122 degees f. No shield jacket helmet or gloves. Bought for 500 US sold for 800. Good times but the high pitch vibration was annoying. This bike sounds better. Looking at one selling for 600 obo.
Wow you bought two hyosung motorcycles!!! I made the mistake of purchasing one and it is the BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. HOW HYOSUNG IS STILL IN BUSINESS, IS BECAUSE STUPID PEOPLE LIKE ME PURCHASE THIS GRAP OF A MOTORCYCLE. BEST OF LUCK KEEPING IT RUNNING. A YUGO IS MORE RELIABLE. (IN MY OPINION)

Ive not had any issue with mine at all and its 17yrs old and i ride it almost everyday!

I bought a second hand one about ten years ago, did 9000miles and traded it in, never had a single problem with it, it had 10,000 on it when I got it.
