We live in a crazy era of boxing. Watching this right now as I wait for the Haney and Loma fight reminds me just how much talent it takes to be king of this weight division. Crazy

I fought at 130 my whole life. And when I fought back on the late 1990s, I felt like there was MAYBE 1 or 2 guys like this at the top in the 4 surrounding divisions.
Now in the top 10, it seems like you have alot of guys that make a tough fight.
Many of these guys would give chavez, de la Hoya, Whitaker a tough fight.
But use to it was like Oscar is at the top, and there was a severe drop off in talent. Whitaker at the top, then a severe drop off.
I use to look at the top ten, and not feel any fear at all. But today, Bulldog, Kambosos, Teo, Lomo, Haney, Tank, and even loaded with guys coming up that look tough.
The talent level is super high. They are quick, hard hitters. Many have a good chin. The skill level is definitely way higher.
I was a freakish 6 for 130 pound fighter, with alot of talent. My coach screwed me over (I didn't find out till years later) and I just had other things that made me lose interest. But even being a freakish Thomas Hearns type, I still think it would be tough to even go 5-5 with the top 10. In fact, I think someone should feel real good just going 1-9 with the top.
Even the amateurs is tougher today than when I fought. It's just gotten way more competitive.
@@chrislucastheprotestantview 135 to 140 is currently murderer's row type division, all the guys that are staying at 135, up and comers at 135, the 35rs moving up to 140 is making these 2 divisions very exciting

A legendary fight for the ages. Kambosos is the real deal regardless of those who wanna say he's a one hit wonder.
No doubt an incredible fighter, but he’s in a loaded division, and this is him at his peak imo

I'm not a teo fan and I enjoyed seeing him get beat. That being said, if he would get rid of his delusional pops and get a good coach I think he stands a good chance to beat the top guys. His pops is bringing him down. If he really cares about his son he would step aside and let someone else with more experience take over.

One of the best fights I've ever seen. The shock value and entertainment was next level. Reminded me of Broner vs maidana. I was literally jumping out of my seat for this fight. It's one I'll never get tired of revisiting.
WOW! Didn't see this the first time around but at 7:01 after the knockdown Kambosos gets a full running start to a huge right hand that Lopez just eats. How Teo just stood there after it landed is crazy.

Yep - Here 23:16 the round ends and Kambosos' cornerman are all over him while Teofimo sits alone in his corner. Every second counts - especially when you only have 60 of them.

Last boxing match I watched was Lewis VS Tyson. I wanted to start watching the sport again and ended up here trying to re-learn the fighters. I must say this fight was brilliant and I don't remember watching many fights that were not heavyweight. Great to see lighter categories delivering this kind of performance. Great match.
Fighters like Ali, Tyson, Foreman, Frazier, Holmes, Cooney etc. made the heavyweight division exciting to watch, but the best fighters of the smaller weight classes have put on great shows of technique and have more well rounded skills than the heavyweights in general. Floyd Mayweather was a prime example, and a lot more fight fans are receptive to that in this era of boxing.

The fact that this fight ended up being promoted by matchroom allowed for fair judging since they don't promote either fighter. If top rank promoted the fight Kambosos would have gotten the Catterall treatment. Everything came together for this great night.

Teofimo came out and was looking good to KO Kambosos. For some reason Teos right just wouldn’t KO Kambosos which was surprising in the moment. Teo clearly bullied Kambosos with ring generalship the whole fight and struggles with some type of conditioning issue.

Teofimo lost fair and square, by at least two rounds, I don't understand why he acts as if he was robbed. Kambosos showed a great chin and no one should have underestimated him, especially a reigning champ. It's one thing for the odds makers to do their thing and for fans to want a KO, but fighters should know not to make the classic mistake of underestimating their opponent.
Nice and a runner up for being a modern classic. Although I'll still miss the golden age of boxing back then, to the Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, the Willie Pep, the Rocky Marcianno, the Jersey Jock Walcotts, and so on. nothing quite like the older boxers can the modern age match and replace.

Teofimo used very poor judgement in this bout, underestimating Kambosos and trying to overwhelm him with power going for a knockout. Not using his strengths (other than power) to his advantage. Such an amateurish mindset to go for a knockout early on, and the early knock down of Teo set the tone for the rest of the fight, ending in Kambosos favor.
Iba bien teofimo, ganando el 8,9 y 10 rouds, pero cuando empezó a conectar golpes Kambosos empezó a bajar la guardia, de ahi en adelante ya no tiraba, ni se movía, pero recibía golpes.
So sad seeing a successful young man like Teo go back to that corner and each time, trying to put a brave face on. It looked like his world (outside of the ring) was catching up on him in the ring - hope he gets the support he needs 🥊. Great night for George though mind, bravo.
