Teofimo Lopez will defend his WBO and Ring Magazine titles against Jamaine Ortiz on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Lopez-Ortiz headlines an action-packed televised doubleheader that kicks off Big Game Weekend.
In the 10-round lightweight co-feature, U.S. Olympic silver medalist Keyshawn Davis faces Puerto Rican former two-division world champion Jose “Sniper” Pedraza.
Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Takeover Promotions and CES Boxing, tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 5 at 10 a.m. PT and can be purchased at AXS.com.

Too little too late was the story of this one for Loma. He was the P4P king at this point so it was REALLY puzzling when he ceded the entire first half of the fight to Teo (which almost felt deliberate???) and then had to play desperate catch-up at the end. Still boggles my mind to this day but I'd like to see these two run it back again.
He claims he had a shoulder injury prior to the fight. After the fight, he had surgery on it. Who knows if that's true but it would explain a lot.
Like in the Haney fight. He waited until the 7th round to start being more active and unfortunately enough he lost the 12th round.
He was scared of Teo’s power early on. You can tell by how much he reacted and backed away from body shots. He was hoping he would tire out but took too long. Even in the build up to fight, one of the episodes Loma is talking about how big Teo is and how his shoulder looked as big as his head to him. He was scared man.. he knew that power can take him out. He can say shoulder this or shoulder that, but dude was scared to get hit

And I actually blame Lomachenko. He should have post-phone the fight but it was during the pandemic and he was worried he would not get another title shot. He should have gotten shoulder surgery to repair it and reschedule a better date but he took a chance, fought injured, and didn't get the decision.
The POINT is that he pretty much nearly beat Teofimo with one arm.

I am an absolutely huge Loma fan but he lost this due to inactivity. Yes, the score matters and he made teo miss and everything but in the eyes of the judges Teo kept throwing and moving forward, hitting gloves etc while Loma didn't throw anything back in retaliation -- doesn't look good to the judges.
Also Loma hadn't fought in over 430 days, Teo had fought 230 days prior - thats some big ass gap for both fighters regarding ring rust.

Loma is an absolute master boxer but he starts far to slow, Teo was impressive in this fight and he did win the first half of the fight, but he did start to struggle when loma woke up. If loma woke up earlier in the fight he could of very well won a very entertaining close fight

They got to do something with scoring in boxing. So many rounds should be even. The professional scoring is really stupid. I believe Olympic scoring is more fare.

i like teo 100% great fighter. but loma is my personal top 5 fav boxers of all time and he just really upsets me by giving so many rounds in the start of every fight he has he seems like he never wants to brawl or let his hands fly when he is full of life and can take those punch for punch trades. he always starts firing off when its too late. it seems like he forgets he gotta box for points too. sad man he could be doing so much more if he just made adjustments to his pacing turning it off and on more often throught asll rounds vs half and half.
