The realism and immersion is good. Simple story with good pace. Not some movie with bad CGi. Glad to know that hollywood still have people that will film onset!

Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first Oscar in this film. His performance in The Revenant was absolutely breathtaking, stunning and out of this world! It is one of the best performances of all time!!!

joherold Birdman and Whiplash have a lot more in the way of technical achievements, while The Revenant is more of a critical success. Chalk and cheese really, but those three I mentioned are a lot closer than you give them credit for.

I watched this in the theaters late one night in Phoenix and when I walked out of the theater into the parking lot it felt really weird. I expected to be in the snow and cold, surrounded by the forest. Truly epic movie, but not entirely sure why they changed the story of Hugh Glass so much. He never had a native wife and half native son. He didn't track down and fight the person who left him to die. He was slaughtered by Indians later on in life.
Visually stunning and brilliant film that shows the beauty and harshness of the American wilderness. I wish Hollywood would make more movies like this instead of all the boring superhero CGI bullcrap they keep dishing out.

When i first saw this movie i was like holy shit Tom Hardy can do that? incredible attention to detail and completely immersed in the madness of the character, without such a good antagonist DiCaprio's efforts would have been a waste!
And don’t forget the amazing, beautiful, soundtrack from Ryuichi Sakamoto. The pathos in this music was perfect. Hoping Mr. Sakamoto recovers from his illness. Heartfelt prayers to him and his family. How do they not mention the soundtrack in this featurette?
This movie was shot on digital and it looks just perfect. Now all those "professional" digital haters can shut the fuck up. When you watch Alejandro G. Inarrito's other movies you realize that all you need is a good cinematographer, good editor and good directing. The type of camera you use doesn't matter at all.
Sitting my living room watching this movie on a TV, several times, had me with a blanket on, every time. Had I seen it in theaters, and I so wish I did, I would have left with frostbite. Thats how immersed you feel watching this incredable movie. There is not a single bad thing I could say about this movie.

I loved this movie and I have seen it several times. My only criticism is that several times during it, you see single shot black powder rifles and pistols shooting two or three times, without being reloaded.
With the pistols, maybe they're able to be reloaded a bit quicker than the rifles. I know how they work but it can also depend on the speed you go at to reload...
but the director did say that were pretty rushed to get all of the shots done and most of them they just took what they got, becux it took a long time to redo some of the cuts
