Wow! What a beautiful sounding/looking guitar! Its got that sorta Martin sound but w/some nice overtones, bright pop, and articulate notes! I love my 000-Custom shop Martin but these guitars are so expensive. Maybe one day we can work for a world in which ppl can trade work/time for gear like this so that us plebs can afford diff guitars like this one. Nice playing.
Really nice. I feel mahogany guitars are pretty underrated, they have power and clarity that rosewood lacks. They're often the 'cheaper' models, but not at all cheap in tone. This sounds a bit like my Martin Sinker OM18, but more refined. Collings have a nice clear tone, a little brighter, and to my ear louder than most other guitars. Maybe I'll have to get one someday.
Hey Ian, I've seen you playing and comparing a lot of guitars for about a year now, and I must say, this is definitely one of my favorites!!! I've played a few Collings, including the OM1 and was very impressed! I would absolutely LOVE to see a one on one comparison with the Collings and a Santa Cruz!!! Great playing as always! Thanks!
Cliff - I don't see Santa Cruz too much anymore, we sold them for a while but have since parted ways. They are awesome instruments, I had a Tony Rice for a couple years that I sold cause I needed the cash, it was incredible. If I get my hands on one I'll do a video and compare it to a similar Collings if I can
Hi Ian, that Collings sounds so clear. Question, do you think the satin model would sound better than the gloss in your opinion. Also, just wanted to thank you for these videos and reviews and thanks for replying to questions, it really helps.
Ian…I notice you play the Collings OM1 with a lot more “finesse”, than you would play…say, a Martin 000-18. Do you do that for a particular reason? Also, do YOU like the Collings over the Martin? Is the Collings REALLY worth basically $3000 more than the Martin?

The first chord of E says it all, its warm and mellow. An incredible guitar.

Ian, you played it differently, with more respect, or so it seemed. Great stuff.
