@@AQUAHOLIC Nick, Silly question, Besides from being stupid, could you run both engines at the same time ? Would this increase speed ? what would happen ?....I looked at the Nordhavn 52 and it looks like the "wing engine" propeller's thrust would just get caught in the thrust of the main propeller and provide no additional energy or thrust. (This is based on my many years of study in fluid dynamics) your thoughts ? .... Z

@@The_Real_Zaineman Once a displacement boat hit its maximum hull speed (which it will with the main engine) the small engine wouldn't add any more.

    • @EverydayProjects

@@AQUAHOLIC For anyone else who may be wondering how to calculate the maximun speed in knots for a displacement hull, here it is:
One and one half times the square root of the waterline length in feet.
Example: What is maximun speed in knots of a 49' displacement hull?
      Square root of 49 = 7
      7 x 1.5 = 10.5 Kts
      Fantastic tour as always, Nick!

I love the term "Proper little ship feel". When your standing a 4 or 6 hour watch at the helm, or lookout on the Bridge wings. You spend a lot of time up in or around the Wheel, or Pilot House/Bridge. When I think of a ships - Bridge. I'm standing watch, on a truly sturdy Ocean going vessel. I picture Superyaghts with the latter two helm areas. Except when they have a Helm area that wouldn't look out of place on a Cargo or Cruise ship. Or a Tramp Steamer. Superyaghts are the rich distant cousins of the tramp Steamer. Cruise ships have ports and set scheduled routes, like a Cargo ship. However a Tramp steamer plods here or there picking up trade, in any port with no plan. Just like most Superyaght owners, can just wake up in a beautiful bay. Lift the anchor, and request the Captain to get underway for another beautiful bay. They might have a tiny schedule, but not set in stone.
Why I love the Superyachts, and Trawler yachts (like Nordhavn), which have that "Proper little ships feel". As they are vessels, built with the comforts of home, and practicalities of a true 'go anywhere - blue ocean cruiser'. Rather than the opulence and status symbols, of the shorter range super yachts, and super yacht fast cruisers. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a beautiful tri deck Super yacht. Filled with style and grace. I think a beautifu Trawlet yacht esp Nordhavn 120 has the perfect best of both worlds about her. I cannot wait for the 148ft to be launched. Huge lottery Euro millions jackpot. I'd buy Aurora Nordhavn 120. Shes my fav.

I've sailed 10's of thousands of miles since my early 20's and my last boat was a Grand Banks 46 Classic which I needed to sell for what proved to be a successful business investment. Now, I spend my time between Denmark where I have a home with my Danish partner, the UK and the Mediteranean where I love to summer... so you can see there's a diversity of waters to sail. My gut is telling me to go with the Nordhavn because I love the little ship look and sturdiness of these boats... but my heart and my younger partner is drawn to the Beneteau which does have a lot more deck space to enjoy the climate around the Greek Ionian islands and further afield. Thank you for your wonderful Aquaholic yacht tours which really are not making my decision any easier lol.

This is the blackswan from jetsey, right?
Saw it in Calvi a couple of days ago.
Actually I am a sailor and we were in Calvi in a 51 ft trimaran (Neel 51). I am not at all into motorboats but this little ship cought my eye. I recognize good design and built quality when I see it. This is the first motorboat video I ever watched on youtube but I am impressed by this little beauty….

I'm starting to do a ton of research on nordhaven boats. The beginning to realize that maybe there aren't that many of them out there and the few of them that are are becoming famous by name because I keep saying a lot of the same names show up in different videos. It doesn't bug me it just is kind of interesting to see. Or. Maybe there's a small number of North Havens that become very famous while the majority are silently out there happily carrying their people along. It's just an observation

I imagine the name is of Scandinavian descent - Norhavn - in Danish would be pronounced Nord-ha-uun. - which the literal translation would be north harbour. My major thought with this boat is that the finishes (dark wood) and the chunky looks, actually make the space look smaller compared with an EU built boat of same size.

I can't help but wonder the noise from that engine room intruding to the main cabin?

Nick, would you maybe know how loud the master suite is, if one or two people are attempting to sleep while the engine is roaring on the other side of that access door? Just curious.

Love the tour but cruising speed of 6 knots? It will take you forever to get anywhere. Is it possible to upgrade the engine to get 12 knots cruising speed?
