Loved how you kept the "Please Do Not Touch the Controls" sign in frame the entire time you were, in fact, touching the controls.
I was previously a Nordhavn fan until I took my first tour of the Fleming line of yachts. What I see that I prefer are the full size refrigerator, the high end kitchen appliances, the composite rail caps, the backup systems throughout the yacht, access to electronics behind the breaker panels, the copious use of handrails and the low freeboard in the aft section. I particularly admire the owner's stateroom in this version and as always the brightly lit engine rooms are a marvel to behold. If I were to suddenly hit the lottery I would immediately make an appointment to meet Tony and design my new home on the sea. I can't imagine a finer way to end a lifetime than on a luxury yacht enjoying the natural wonders of mother nature. Thank you Nick, for yet another fine video.
The 58 has always been my dream (lottery moment) boat. Unsurpassed in quality, luxury and built to last. One day - hopefully!
Sign: 'please don't touch the controls'
Nick Burnham: 'hold my beer...'
Great video once again Nick, very capable and lovely boat.
Keep up the good work!
I did have special permission, honest! (I should have moved that sign :D )
@@AQUAHOLIC Nick, do you do merch?
Lee Colgate Socks, for a start!
@@AQUAHOLIC I was waiting for you to mention that sign.. :D
No Merch - yet! :)
Clare and I do love a Fleming ....Class 😎
I think there is something very special about Flemmings. Everything is so well thought out and exquisitely built. Try and get on a 78. They really do appear to be ship like.
Hoping to do that at some stage.
I was on a 22 year old Fleming 55 in Friday Harbor for a couple of days and it was still like new. Flemings cost a lot but if you can afford one they are worth it. They also hold their value far better than most.
Ive been reading your posts for years and years years!!! You love Flemings as I do. No doubt the best of the best. Take care.
Yes Fleming, Grand Banks and other yacht builders alike are incredible inside and out, insanely capable, and hold their value a ton. Many people do not understand these boats and think they are a "bad deal" when they can get an azimut that is a lot more modern looking for a fraction of the price.
Nice boat. I love Tony Fleming's travel videos on the Fleming Yachts channel.
@David Anderson....have you seen his travel from UK across the Sahara desert to Africa and back in an old truck him and two pals modified in 1959? Not a movie file it's all slides but well worth watching. ruclips.net/video/PtG6niRiRXk/видео.html&index
@@Bulletguy07 - Haven't watched it yet - but will move it to the top of the list. Cheers.
@@davidanderson8381 Oh in that case i guarantee you will enjoy. Even though the photographs are 61 years old they are very clear and sharp and the scenic shots simply breathtaking. It is without doubt one of the best edited and narrated travelogues i've ever seen on YT.
@@Bulletguy07 Just watched it last night, its amazing
@@cw6410 Yes their entire trip was pretty amazing. I admired the fact they did it with very little money and an old truck showed what can be done if determined. Whilst having specialist equipment is helpful and nice, it doesn't need crazy money and Tony and his pals proved that.
I love the video "How it all began" on Fleming.
This vessel is SO Sweet!
I am now an old man with (unfulfilled) dreams of owning a 'Trawler' based motor cruiser. I remember Fleming from the fine yachting magazines of my time. I 'hustled' right over to the Fleming web page. Like many builders' pages I have visited thanks to you, Fleming lacks the true journalist's touch with its videos. There is a 'gaping' need for YOUR style of walk-around videography on their site. Fleming is locked into the static slideshow style of presentation of interiors and exteriors. Next up, they feature special cruising destinations to whet the travel appetite of adventure voyagers. I was most interested in the Fleming 78 (well, nomenclature has drifted a bit here.) What I saw with Fleming was close enough to 'spot on' with your work on a smaller ship.
"Please do not touch the controls" proceeds to touch all controls, love it
At several points of this wonderful walk-thru, it seemed like we were touring a super yacht.
What a beautiful boat this is!
A Fleming wil bring another style, greetings from the Flemish community.
Loved the total disregard for do not touch the controls!!! Totally Aquaholic! LOL!
I love Tony's yachts and his videos. Pure class.
I love the Fleming Yachts. The company published a series of videos of their yacht cruising all over the western coast of America, Canada and Alaska through the inside passage. The series was amazing, worth your while to watch it.
Key word, coast
Love how he shows every feature, opens every door. Excellent tour like a top real estate agent showing a house. Thank you for the tour.
Thanks for watching!
We had the pleasure of touring this boat at the boat show. Absolutely beautiful ship! So please you did a tour :)
Hello Nick. I have become a U.C.L.A. of your posts. Under Covid Lockdown Addict. You have taken me from playgroup of the basics of yacht to a Kindergarden level armchair sailor. Basis your posts have explored Boats.com and multiple other posts. Have come to appreciate terms like Passage Makers, Motor Yachts, Boats, Sail boats etc. I live in India where Sailing is non existent and too expensive and our waters are muddy / salty/dirty off the coast of mumbai which isn't too conducive for living on a boat. But your post (I have seen almost all by now) raise the urge / wishfullness of make this a part of the bucket list albeit with limited chances of fulfilling in this lifetime. But sincere thanks for your posts and bring the unknown joy of boating/sailing in my life
I have also grown from watching brands like princess, absolute, Fairline, Galeon and then the Azimut's, Mangusta and then the Nordhavn's, Flemings, Selene's and also appreciating the world of sailboats which are a world in themselves.
That's great to hear! I hope you manage to get afloat sometime :)
I love Fleming yachts, the quality is superb and from a parent who has young children when we looked at a 55 it was completely safe for them... we are still keeping our eye out for a second hand one...
brilliant tour as per usual... 👍🏻
Great boats, good luck!
Great video as always. My wife and I were delighted to find a trawler style at the show (seriously looking at the moment) sadly no where near enough passage maker style boats at the show. I know that cameras distort sizes but the go pro really does make this look so much bigger than it is. The saloon area feels really small..the side decks are pretty generous and I think it only has an 18ft beam which makes the saloon very narrow...beautifully made but the videos really are very deceptive. We are potentially looking at a live aboard and both of us agreed the interior space was way too compromised to spend long periods on it. The pilot house was lovely though ...light with fantastic all round vision. There was another guy on the boat while we were looking who had just bought a rival brand, when the salesman asked him how much he thought the Flemming cost his wife guessed at 1.7m and he reckoned 1.4...he nearly spat his drink when the guy said 3.2m ...very hard to justify such a huge price especially considering the SH price of a Nordhavn 60s... nice boat ..way too expensive...
Great tour... really like the helm area where the screens display all the boats systems and most of all... they give a pre sail check list! To Me that is Brilliant!... Thanks Nick!
Thanks Nick! Another thorough review of a beautiful yacht. Seems like Fleming is upping their game a bit.
Thank you for showing this amazing little ship perfect for cruising long distance, and you feel it well made and well thought out..
Absolutely fantastic to see you do a tour of a Fleming! They have been my favourite cruising yachts for years. I absolutely love the classic looks and the use of space on them. And the almost manic attention to detail and redundancies throughout the boats are quite simply impressive.
If I ever were to be in the position of having to choose between a Nordhavn or a Fleming, I think the Fleming would win me over every time. :)
@Wade Brown thank you for the comment! I fully agree with you, apples and oranges, but that was kinda the point. I primarily used the Northaven for comparison since Nick have made several yacht tours on Northavens and because I really like them as well. Disregarding speed and hull design, I prefer the Fleming for it's looks and lower profile. The interior is also somewhat less "stairy" than the Northavens, which is a bonus too.
But of course, if hull-shape and performance is important to the decision, the comparison is more like comparing apples and bunnies than apples and oranges, two completely different products designed to meet completely different performance criteria. :)
Unfortunately, any of these magnificent yacht are so far out of my budget that I probably couldn't afford one of the propellers. Still, we can always dream. :)
@Wade Brown no worries at all, I am enjoying my 30-year old 26-footer while I dream of the magnificent, large cruising yachts! :) And congratulations on a magnificent yacht. That 658 is an absolutely stunning boat. Personally I'd prefer a separate wheelhouse on a yacht this size, but the 658' layout does make much better use of the space. All boats, even these beauties are after all a compromise in some way or another.
Of course, the one advantage of just dreaming rather than buying is that I don't have to worry about cost. ;)
@Wade Brown a very good point indeed! I think many people get a bit stunned by the costs of operating and maintaining a boat, no matter the size of it. Mine is so old now that renovation and replacement of expensive bits is added to the normal costs of owning and running the boat, so I spending a hell of a lot more than 20% of what I bought it for each year! lol!
The lack of hard top allows the arch to be hinged. This is an important point to get the yacht under low bridges, like on the river Trent. Just in case I win the lottery this weekend.
That would be awesome for cruising on The Great Lakes.
@@StephenKershaw1 I noticed you are an aspireing musician. Here is a link to U2 Baby an old man's Nordhavn. I'll leave you to guess who owns it. www.marinetraffic.com/ais/details/ships/shipid:197636/mmsi:235085596/imo:0/vessel:U2_BABY
@@StephenKershaw1 Well U2 were professional composers back in the 90's. I was trying to link your aspirational peers to "old men boats". To dispel the very notion of ageist boat profiling. But I now realise that is a lost cause. All be cause of an extra "e".
@@StephenKershaw1 I am saying it's not a matter of age that make a Flemming appealing. It's factors like the time you have at sea and on the boat. Old man Roger Moore had a superhawk 48. I myself have an express cruiser, but would appreciate the sea kindliness of a Semi displacement.
There is a custom carbon fiber hinged mast that is compatible for boats with the hard top.
A superb vessel; very well designed. A lot of thought clearly went into it. Excellent tour - thank you Nick
Another awsome looking 58.
What a beautiful boat, another very high standard film Nick. Fleming boat is awesome; should have been a boast used in a James Bond film with a name like Fleming !!
I admire your knowledge in all boats you show us, keep up the good work Sir
Thank you :)
My dream yacht. Stunning, sturdy and safe. A used one can actually be obtainable.
You could really go places in these yachts.Great presentation as always Nick
I've been binging on your videos. Times of today it's a great separation of reality for myself. I've always been intrigued about yachts and fancy boats. I appreciate how you tour every inch available to see. This one is one of my favorites. The best part of this video is how you completely ignored the sign at the helm that said "do not touch the controls" haha bravo. Lol. Well as always be blessed and safe.
Glad you like them! (I had permission to play with the screen! 😄)
@@AQUAHOLIC yesirr I figured you did. 🤘♿🇺🇸
I love the woodwork on this one. It gives it that classic/old look, even though it's a new boat of only a few years old. Really nice! :)
Thanks Nick, My two loves are the Fleming and Nordavn . You have done both. Great presentation
Today I have been watching several videos by Tony Fleming, from his Fleming 65,and they are also very nice, and then you launch this video here on youtube Nick, you keep on giving us super nice videos, again and again,so now I hope that Santa will be kind to me this year, since I have been eating all veggies,so maybe I could have my self a little boat ........ :) :)
Fleming are a Rolls Royce of boats, great review... 👍
Pretty much the perfect yacht, stunning. Cheers Nick.
Stunning boat. First saw it on their cruising videos, which are so extremely well narrated and shot. Since that time Fleming is one of my favorites. I have a Defever 49, but this or a Bering are high on my wish list 😃👍
Sublime!
The fit and finish quality is second to none.
Just a truly awe-inspiring small ship.
You could keep reviewing Flemings (and Nordhavns) until the cows come home for me, Nick! I never tire of admiring these lovely vessels.
I will will never be able to afford one, let alone pay for a professional crew, but its nice to imagine…!
Best wishes from the Wirral.
I have seen all the boat reviews on this channel, and this boat is the only one that I would buy if I was super rich.
No crew needed, can go anywhere, can live onboard like in a house, low maintenance, easy to fix.
Low maintenance and easy fix are 2 things Fleming's aren't. Expect to pay 50k a year at least just to moor/service this boat. If anything breaks down, you're paying $100-$120/hr to get it fixed.
Thanks Nick this was gorgeous classic styling with all todays mod cons some we have seen are far in excess of this yatchs price tag in my opinion you don't get all of what we have seen on here. Beautiful yatch.😉👍👍
Hoping to get to the show myself weekend.
This is still such a lovely boat. If you’re a practical, experienced sailor, this looks like a very seaworthy, comfortable and elegant boat for family and friends - but it’s not at all showy. It’s lovely.
"You're never, ever going to be stuck" Thank you Captain Scott.
I went on this boat during the boat show. One of my favourite boats
I love how the litte seat that folds out the cupboard looks like a radar 🤗
This boat is spectacular appointed with the best of the best and well deserving of the price. Having time during Covid to dream about a proper boat to go anywhere I have watched the Nordhaven, Krogen, and several others but none that I have seen come with this level of quality equipment.
FlemingYachts are one of the best! Richard Fleming designed a perfect vessel to see the World from. Many people will think the interior is rather sparten below decks but does that really matter on long voyages?
The FlemingYacht can take you anywhere safely!
The only yacht that I truly believe is even safer is an FPB.
Thank you for a great video on a spectacular vessel!
I love these Fleming Yachts.
Excellent review, Nick. Flemings are my absolute favourite boats and would be the first thing to buy if my numbers came up. I saw this yacht at the boat show, but couldn't bring myself to tour around someone else's pride and joy, so thanks for your review. I'm amazed it's 3 years old, just goes to show the benefit of all that quality. They really are a class act.
You're very welcome Timo, glad you enjoyed it :)
Some of the best design and best built boats. Flemings are amazing. Shows the 3mil price tag.
The 55' or 58' are my dream Flemings . Just have something extra compared to other trawlers . Nordhavn too are good , but Fleming looks small ship whilst the Nordhavn more tug . sorry .. Great walk around once again Nick .
Consider the top speed although becomes a gas guzzler. I didn’t see any scuppers either so it could be another redundant bilge pump ???
That checklist is such a good idea, perhaps adopted from the aviation industry.
i would say most definitely adopted from aircraft glass cockpits
Talking of Checklists but on a far smaller scale of boat. This year I bought the vessel view mobile for my Mercury outboard engine. A bluetooth device with an App. Plugs in to the outboard service port wiring loom under the cowling. It gives via your mobile phone all the engine running hours and other stats you also get a customisable set of checklists. From remembering to have boat keys bungs fitted, spares onboard before launching. I find it a very useful piece of kit.
Will Lowbridge that sounds very useful.
Tony Fleming was originally an aeronautical engineer and he builds his boats to that standard. 😊
Aviation adopted checklists from maritime, the submarines I believe. You wouldn't want to dive with a hatch open
Was waiting for a Fleming review ,awesome boats thanks nick
Thank you Sir. I really enjoy watching Your videos, laid back and not too technical.
Stunning little ship that one once you start looking at the details quality and thought gone into it ,would feel very safe travelling anyweres in that plenty of room on decks up front add fuel bladders go transatlantic double the range easily
We visited this boat show this week. Weather made it extra nice and had a great day out with everyone selling being super helpful and happy let us have onboard look around.
Watching so many Aquaholic videos as I walked around on board the boats I swear I could hear Nicks commentary as I opened doors and looked at day heads and saw good sized cabins. Even a nice place to tuck yourself away with a good book!!
My name is Will and I am an Aquaholic! ❤️⛴🛥🚤⚓️
Haha, fantastic! :D
Great video! Great Rolex Pepsi as well, one of my favorite watches.
I’m warming to explorer yachts. It was the floating palaces that caught my attention, but these workhorses with their range and capability are even more tempting. Just imagining where I could explore with one is exciting.
Must remember to order mine with plenty of large fridges...
If you haven't already, look up Fleming on RUclips - the founder has loads of great content exploring various places 👍
Lee Colgate Great suggestion - thanks! 👍
Brilliant tour. That is a beautiful boat. Compared with a Kadey Krogen of similar size there is so much to think about. They are both so similar and yet both so different. Some fantastic details on this boat which aren't on the Krogen...and yet the reverse is true...For me it all comes down to how much one can tailor the boat to your own desires, and the distance to re- fuelling. I don't want 18 knots when crossing an ocean, but I might need it when trying to outrun a low pressure system? I want room for a compressor in the lazarette. The Krogen can do almost 5000 nm before refuelling...what absolutely beautiful boats though....applause to all of you boat designers...
A propper little ship ..... I enjoy the way you do these video’s.....Great job, and a beautifully designed craft. Thanks.
That is one boat I can completely understand the price for. Love your channel
Enjoyed the tour. Very well thought out yacht. Alot of grab rails and placed just where you need them.
Great video. Looking forward to the next one.
Loads more coming! :)
They are a beautiful boats and Mr Fleming s travel vlogs amazing.
Absolutely !
The colour scheme for the decor is really really nice.
Nice video Nick. Always liked boats with that little ship look. If I had the money a Fleming would be on my short list of potential buys.
The F58 brought Fleming to a new level and the reason for that is they went to new naval architects, Norman R Wright & Sons in Brisbane, Australia who have over 100 years experience designing and building these trawler style cruising yachts.
The F58 impressed everyone so much that Fleming have commissioned NRW&S to design and engineer the new F85.
She’s a beaut if only I had the money. Thanks for the share Nick
You're welcome :)
At the end of the vid I was half expecting a scream and a crash from off camera " Ahhhhh, smash ! ! Who left the engine compartment open ! ! " LOL But seriously, I love this yacht, especially the access to the wires and such you showed us in the wheel house. Also, this yacht has some beautiful wood but not too much.
Wow, that’s an amazing yacht, somehow feels so much bigger than it is
Dear Mr Holic
We could not help noticing you touching the controls 😂
Great video as usual! Was down there myself today and saw her for myself. Lovely boat!
Had a fair few nice ones there!
Well done! Fantastic information, great camera work and your knowledge of the product was excellent.
Loved the woodwork~! Looks gorgeous. The boat is well designed with lots of space. Can surely be a live aboard. Thanks for the tour Nick. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great detailed share. Beautiful boat throughout both in design and the helm features. I did want to raise one observation. The sliding bolt latch that is used to secure the two doors on the Portuguese Bridge is surprisingly basic. You'd see a latch like that on a chicken coop versus the robust hinge and bolt system that you pointed out on the Nordhavn 68 review. That tandem looked like something you would see on a bank safe. I am surprised that Fleming chose such a basic sliding bolt to handle a very significant task. Fleming boats are superb. There is no questioning their overall build quality and feature list. I just find it odd that they didn't stay consistent with this particular hardware choice thereby matching every other choice you showed us throughout the boat. For this price point, I would expect a bolt and hinge system that was substantially more robust both visually and performance wise.
After years of beating my brains out and being miserable on sailboats around the Northern California Coast, a powerboat, especially a Fleming looks so appealing. A no none-sense choice, and a real cruising yacht for those who really know. Highly functional, extremely thoughtful, and exquisite at the same time. Next to a comparable Hatteras , Viking, Broward, Burger etc....., this yacht is a clear cut above on so many levels, not that those others are inferior by themselves. Fleming's just standout on their own.
Why was sailing miserable? :-0
@@visionist7 San Francisco Bay has 25-35 knots of wind most days from April through October. Always foggy and cold. Strong currents and Seas in and out the Golden Gate Bridge. Always wet and cold and using far too many muscles to keep the boat balanced , reefed and trimmed. Can never stand up without falling down etc. A chore just to bring a drink up from below. Fun for the first couple years but a major drag thereafter. Was Coast Guard licensed so I taught lesson on big boat and did charters for 20 years in those conditions.
Very nice. Thanks for taking the time to show us.
Yaa I found the Fleming vid. It came up as watched but good to see it again. They are great boats.
Excellent video, great description, throughly enjoyed it. Thank you.
Beautiful boat, thanks for the tour.Haven't been to the SBS for a couple of years, looking forward to getting down there this weekend.
Flemings would have to be close to the best motor yachts available on the world market.
Was getting withdrawal symptoms..another year vid..lovely boat
Very nice classic live-aboard cruiser with tons of detail. I especially like the faux teak cap-rails and the galley. Lack of sun bathing pads could be a minus but not a deal breaker. The helm controls are like having a modern gps/multi-media stack installed in a 1967 Cadillac. However for me for the same price, I find sport models more appealing such as the Princess line.
I'm sure you can specify sun pads for the foredeck storage lockers. This boat has me torn. I love it and would live aboard it for months at a time (good luck keeping it clean outside though lol) but I can't help but see it as unsexy, old fashioned looking. It's a shame I can't get over its looks.
Another great tour Nick
You did a great job. Thanks. When I have an extra 3-4 million I'll take one. It would be my ship of choice.
Brilliant video as ever, amazing boat too.
Keep ‘em coming Nick!
You've finally nailed Miele - well done lol
This is a fantastic take you anywhere yacht.
Very nice, looks almost exactly like the layout of the Fleming 65’ that I worked on speaking of accessibility I did have to literally dismantle half of the boat to access the engine room soft patch starting with taking a sledgehammer to the stone countertop and cutting out the adjoining salon settee that was all put down with 5200.
I asked you in another review if you had ever done a review on a Fleming yacht, thanks for this. I hadn’t seen this when I asked you so if you haven’t answered no need to. Thanks again !
very COOL VIDEO, nice walkthrough and GOOD VIEWS of the YACHT !! very well explanation filmed with patience thank you SIR and B SAFE !!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Stunning craft! You would feel incredibly confident in some serious seas in a craft like that. They have thought of everything, redundancy on top of redundancy, 😊
Please do more sailboat tours! Great videos!
Flemings are top of all as serious stuff; I mean, to cross oceans, seas, etc. I guess they have problems to improve them.
Great video.
Beautiful boat, loved the tour!
Another awesome video of a great boat. And you spelled Miele correctly without any hesitation 👍🏻😂 The next thing we have to work on is Böning 😉 But I fear not to many boats in your reviews will be equipped with Böning systems, so you might lack of practice.
How do we pronounce Böning lol?
Great boat well done excellent video
Such a beautiful boat!
I like how the sign said "do not touch" and here you are touching it, LOL. But you did say in another comment you had permission to do so, so I can;t exactly complain.
Thanks for this walk through. There a couple of 55’s for sale at my marina but they are out of my price range so as curious as I am I’ve never looked at them other than walking by. They definitely are proper little ships.
