Definitely agree with your take on Roblox. With Skyclimbers, Kindred Fates, DokeV, and Palworld I think it could help or hurt the genre depending on how good they actually turn out to be and if they are able to deliver on some big promises. I'm frankly not that interested in DQ Treasures, but I see your point. I don't really see EvoCreo2 making that big of a splash but I'm excited for it. Cassette Beasts definitely looks like it might make a big splash.

I am happy to Digimon at the top of the list. I agree that if done right Digimon could be amazing. Hopefully story will be an updated advanced version that we saw on DS. If they made it real time battling to represent next gen games Digimon would change monster taming forever.

Still made me feel old, and that is unforgiveable in a channel I come too for reassurance a genre I'm so nostalgic about still has plenty of life in the old dog. 😜 Your video also really made me realise just how much weight Digimon has on its shoulders right now. Both the Mon-RPG and V-Pet genres need big hitters and its arguably the second biggest franchise in both genres. (After Pokémon in the Mon-RPG space, and after Tamagotchi in the general V-Pet space BUT after Nintendogs in the Console V-Pet space...) Both the next Digimon Story and the next Digimon World have the potential to light some pretty big fires in their genres if they knock things out of the part. You ever get addicted to the Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure 2? I've got to be honest, for me Digimon World: Next Order is the first time since back then when I've had a game scratch that particular itch. I'm hoping that there is a World game in pre-production for after the next Story game, because if they can have one of those hit it big that might put pressure on SEGA to do something with the Chao Gardens again.

Island of Winds looks like it's going to be something new for the genre with its ultra realistic graphics. Also looking forward to Battle Fishing Masters with its 150 marine robot monsters. Certainly something fresh around the block.
I love how, a whole generation grew up with Pokémon, and after two decades of games, it’s inspired so many creative fans to add more to the genre. Pokémon is what everyone recognizes, but without fan-games inspired by it, we wouldn’t see the monster tamer genre grew beyond its bounds and smash expectations.
Huge rip to Temtem tbh, I feel like itll stay kinda small and end up with a cult following more than anything. Most of the hype surrounding the game is already gone unfortunately, but I suppose thats what happens when a game is in early access for 3 years and the most notorious thing surrounding the game are the insane amount of false bans.
we will see on sept if that is the case, I remember the dev saying that they didn't want to market it the game until full release which is coming this September, so it's early to say rip to temtem with the incoming marketing campaign, final end-game island and demolishing pvp entry barrier with the simulator which will be extremely helpful in hooking new players.
Hmm some pass game I want to return or their system to come back are Fossil Fighter, Monster Racer and Jade Cacoon but I have only played the 2ed Jade Cacoon and started a rom of the first one but I think the combat and fusion system in 2 would be nice to see. It's one of those wheel combat well this time a square where you can only have a type of monster on one side fire on one side earth another and so on but their a fusion breeding you can do where you can combine two monster so I'll be a hybrid so than you have fire &earth than you can put them in the corner to be used in both fire&earth side probably I don't remember what elements is where but ya bring something like that back might be fun. Monster racer was fun Gba? Where well you raced monster each where good in a terrain and had their own special attack like one could just dash through another can teleport some way. You tame other monsters during a race by shooting hearts at them while your facing. You could be a jerk and just use the heart to probably stun them so you can take the lead lol but it was fun. You go around the world to race in different tournaments while catching more monster. they have I think something like coromon potent where you can catch a rare color of monsters. I don't fully remember much like if they were strong I think it was like their a water starter who now can run in lava but ya it was very fun. So just a few monster Taming games I played when I was younger. Some of the final fantasy games are monster Taming you get new Job classes to use heehee.

@@FTChomp9980 should work the same well I have a switch light so I know their a mic I can blow into hmm gyro controls like shake something to remove the dirt hmm guess the drills were touched screen but probably easy enough to just press a button whatever the did for the diamond&pearl reboot would work for fossil fighter both using a drill&hammer.
another good honorable mention and it is farming life sim as well so also niche is ooblets since u still do collect and grow different ooblets to have dance battles with and they are almost at 1.0 on the game
I really hope the monster sanctuary crew don't make the same mistake of railroading you into specific monsters and builds if you wanna beat the end game Was fun for like 90% of the story until I found out you HAVE to use specific sets on specific mons if you wanna beat certain bosses; congrats, you took your creative and innovative game only to shoot it at the finish line
i got bat into monster taming because of smt V ngl . i like demons and the myths that are in it and it ironically made me look at other games because i wanted to see if there were and darker capture games . im getting coromon and a few of the games i have seen on your channel im so happy to have found it ! i think coromon looks more mature then pokemon or tem tem and i like it for that . cant wait to see alot more games coming out !

oh my god, it was really awsome to see gameplay from Kindred Fates! me and my fiance have been exited to play it, since we backed it on kickstarted, when it first turned up.. Looks awsome and the evolution line is awsome and a really good idea. plus the whole thing with types being not just good against others, but it depends on how you fight yourself.. like water is good to fire but you can win, if carefull..
Dragon Quest Treasures really has me hopefu. I'm currently playing through the GBA game Dragon Quest Monsters Caravan Heart, which mixed the monster taming its predecessors had with some of the main line DQ features and a new focus on caravan party building (human collecting included!). The game is very fun and shows me that the games can be satisfying monster taming experiences even when the monsters aren't the sole focus. Digimon will definitely always stay on my radar. I returned to it in 2018/19 when I started spreading out to other monster tamers because of the national dex news and I've been a big fan since. I hope whatever comes next will be a bit more free-form when it comes to stats though - Cybersleuth's Pokemon-esque stat caps really put a damper on my enjoyment as all my favorites ended up as forever not endgame-viable. Lastly, an indie I'm personally very excited for that might catch some eyes outside the genre is Necromancer's Gift. I really like the look of the game and if they nail the loop of it it might become a great monster taming entry to the popular roguelike genre. I know Abomi Nations exists (and it's awesome) but its gameplay cycles are long enough that people don't seem to consider it a roguelike.

I look forward to most things dragon quest so definitly going to be watching Treasures, DokeV feels like they're way to much going on at once for me to want play it. Nexomon games have been fun so if a 3rd game comes out i'm definitely on board for it, Hyped to get Coromon on switch Thursday. Hoping Capcom is working on a MHS 3 title as i want more of that, that game was a blast.
SO MANY GAMES, but I have so little time to actually focus on them x(Its really sad from a foreginer point of view that not many of these games will be in Polish. I only know Monster Sanctuary has planned Polish support, but that will be not enough to appeal to kids here. Digimon only had FIRST seried dubbed here. And I hoped somehow we will get Ghost series dub, but it seems noone is interested to pick it up... Temtem will not grow for sure. Less and less people play for online. And i dont see many people playing DOUBLE for online play. I'm personaly VERY excited for future of team who made Xenoverse. They also going to make own monster taming game! Just a little feedback, it would be nice to leave the name of games up on screen throughout their section. I know sometimes I'm just kind of listening and a game will grab my attention and I'll want to look into it but will be like, "wait what was the name of this game again?" and have to look back in the video for the title. Just a little suggestion, I don't know how much more work that would involve. Thank you for these videos, though! I really enjoy them!

So watched this video earlier and came back because of a weird thought I can't help having... Digimon probably has the most stupid amount of weight on it of almost any gaming franchise at the moment: Mon-RPG fans are looking to it with the hopes it will help the genre boom beyond Pokémon's shadow again, as it first did a long time ago. V-Pet fans are looking to it with the hopes that will continue to preserve and push its responsible as arguably the only meaningfully ongoing console V-Pet.
Would you say that games that use monster parts instead of capturing like monster lab are monster taming games? Functionally they are very similar to games like monster sanctuary, though instead of having 3 distinct monsters, you have like 2 arms and a head, and instead of eggs you get parts. Though tbh you could make the exact same gameplay with mechs, or mages and spells, or even armies, makes me wanna start a game jam with that theme.
I don't know if this will actually wind up being a big deal, but I'm going to say an obvious game for hopefully not an obvious reason. Obviously anytime a Pokemon game comes out it makes waves for good or bad reasons. But I think Pokemon making an attempt at some kind of co-op game play outside of battling or the really wonky wild area could be a huge deal. If it's good, it's going to be great and we'll probably see more of it in indie titles. If it's mediocre to bad we'll see indie devs saying "we can do better". I know other games in the genre are also doing co-op, I mean Tem-Tem is an MMO, but when the giant in the genre tries something it does tend to ripple.
Also going to guess that Palworld will be on this list so encourage players to try Craftopia which is like Palworlds Baby and as you go through the Ages you unlock more things. If i had to pick a genre it would be RPG/Minecraft but with a Pet Management Machine, monsters you capture can be brainwashed to follow your orders blindly and even fight for you.
Honestly think TemTem got what it takes for Pokémon to have competition 👏🏻 and this is a good thing since TemTem has everything we wanted in a game growing up, online seevers, mmo, be able to trade, battle, co op etc

It still feels like someone would get angry about that even if I mean no offense. Digimon I believe, is suffering because of it's too "Japan-centric" characters. If they need to reach new heights, they need to make non-Japanese characters like what Pokémon did in Gen V which made Pokémon even more appealing. If they want to target mobile industry, they need to cater to Southeast Asians by making relatable and representing their culture

Many Digimon and yugioh games don't get localized, dragon quest monsters 1 2 and 3 didn't, yokai watch 4 left the west, medabots left, monster rancher left for the longest time, etc I made a whole video talking about this. Even games like the original devil children titles, telefang, etc etc etc. TONS of mongames haven't been coming here from japan

Personally, games that don't let me control the monster directly (be it in action-based or turn-based) lose a lot of fun factor. As for my most anticipated games of the genre are cassette beasts and ova magica. They look really awesome.
The problem with Digimon is there over convoluted evolutions, that and the fact that its games genre are always at random. There isn't a definitive Digimon gameplay.
There is a definitive Digimon Gameplay system... Its the V-Pets, because its not primarily a console game franchise. Saying Digimon doesn't have a primary gameplay system because its got three branches on console would be like saying Pokémon didn't have one in the early days because Snap, Hey! Pikachu, and Pokémon Stadium all played so differently.

I think you're vastly overrating coromon. The things this game did, it did pretty well. But what it actually did, wasn't anything new or innovative. Heck, the mechanics are 1:1 copied from pokémon to the point even some values were exactly the same, at this point it's a Pokémon Reskin, with the exception of boss battles. I don't know what Coromon 2 will have in stock, but if there won't be any signifiant changes, it will simply make an impact as a pokélike game. Now yes, it could be huge with the mobile player base, but I think putting it that high is misplaced when compared to a truly unique concept like cassette beasts, which I hope will storm the outside market aswell.

I would’ve swapped around Digimon Story for Cassette Beasts, fusion in a Monster taming game has rarely been done outside of Digimon & Persona.

Digimon will definitely always stay on my radar. I returned to it in 2018/19 when I started spreading out to other monster tamers because of the national dex news and I've been a big fan since. I hope whatever comes next will be a bit more free-form when it comes to stats though - Cybersleuth's Pokemon-esque stat caps really put a damper on my enjoyment as all my favorites ended up as forever not endgame-viable.
Lastly, an indie I'm personally very excited for that might catch some eyes outside the genre is Necromancer's Gift. I really like the look of the game and if they nail the loop of it it might become a great monster taming entry to the popular roguelike genre. I know Abomi Nations exists (and it's awesome) but its gameplay cycles are long enough that people don't seem to consider it a roguelike.
Wow I have to look at more stuff I enjoy these types of games but can never find them, or remember their names honestly, but neat to see some new titles

I look forward to most things dragon quest so definitly going to be watching Treasures, DokeV feels like they're way to much going on at once for me to want play it. Nexomon games have been fun so if a 3rd game comes out i'm definitely on board for it, Hyped to get Coromon on switch Thursday. Hoping Capcom is working on a MHS 3 title as i want more of that, that game was a blast.
SO MANY GAMES, but I have so little time to actually focus on them x(Its really sad from a foreginer point of view that not many of these games will be in Polish. I only know Monster Sanctuary has planned Polish support, but that will be not enough to appeal to kids here. Digimon only had FIRST seried dubbed here. And I hoped somehow we will get Ghost series dub, but it seems noone is interested to pick it up...
Temtem will not grow for sure. Less and less people play for online. And i dont see many people playing DOUBLE for online play.
I'm personaly VERY excited for future of team who made Xenoverse. They also going to make own monster taming game!

Just a little feedback, it would be nice to leave the name of games up on screen throughout their section. I know sometimes I'm just kind of listening and a game will grab my attention and I'll want to look into it but will be like, "wait what was the name of this game again?" and have to look back in the video for the title. Just a little suggestion, I don't know how much more work that would involve. Thank you for these videos, though! I really enjoy them!

Would you say that games that use monster parts instead of capturing like monster lab are monster taming games?
Functionally they are very similar to games like monster sanctuary, though instead of having 3 distinct monsters, you have like 2 arms and a head, and instead of eggs you get parts.
Though tbh you could make the exact same gameplay with mechs, or mages and spells, or even armies, makes me wanna start a game jam with that theme.
I don't know if this will actually wind up being a big deal, but I'm going to say an obvious game for hopefully not an obvious reason. Obviously anytime a Pokemon game comes out it makes waves for good or bad reasons. But I think Pokemon making an attempt at some kind of co-op game play outside of battling or the really wonky wild area could be a huge deal. If it's good, it's going to be great and we'll probably see more of it in indie titles. If it's mediocre to bad we'll see indie devs saying "we can do better". I know other games in the genre are also doing co-op, I mean Tem-Tem is an MMO, but when the giant in the genre tries something it does tend to ripple.

Also going to guess that Palworld will be on this list so encourage players to try Craftopia which is like Palworlds Baby and as you go through the Ages you unlock more things. If i had to pick a genre it would be RPG/Minecraft but with a Pet Management Machine, monsters you capture can be brainwashed to follow your orders blindly and even fight for you.
I love the dialog in cyber cleuth so i don't mind that those games have a lot if dialog and i can't wait to play digimon digimon survive
Honestly think TemTem got what it takes for Pokémon to have competition 👏🏻 and this is a good thing since TemTem has everything we wanted in a game growing up, online seevers, mmo, be able to trade, battle, co op etc

Also you forgot that Roblox exist on IOS and Android were the number of active mobile gamers worldwide is over 2.2 billion that play video games every day. Compered to total number of console gaming users worldwide in 2021 that was only 254 milion users.

Digimon I believe, is suffering because of it's too "Japan-centric" characters. If they need to reach new heights, they need to make non-Japanese characters like what Pokémon did in Gen V which made Pokémon even more appealing. If they want to target mobile industry, they need to cater to Southeast Asians by making relatable and representing their culture

Many Digimon and yugioh games don't get localized, dragon quest monsters 1 2 and 3 didn't, yokai watch 4 left the west, medabots left, monster rancher left for the longest time, etc I made a whole video talking about this. Personally, games that don't let me control the monster directly (be it in action-based or turn-based) lose a lot of fun factor. As for my most anticipated games of the genre are cassette beasts and ova magica. They look really awesome.

I think you're vastly overrating coromon. The things this game did, it did pretty well. But what it actually did, wasn't anything new or innovative.
Heck, the mechanics are 1:1 copied from pokémon to the point even some values were exactly the same, at this point it's a Pokémon Reskin, with the exception of boss battles.
I don't know what Coromon 2 will have in stock, but if there won't be any signifiant changes, it will simply make an impact as a pokélike game.
Now yes, it could be huge with the mobile player base, but I think putting it that high is misplaced when compared to a truly unique concept like cassette beasts, which I hope will storm the outside market aswell.
