Good point but this was a bit of fun and just wanted to play with the tech I had. Somewhere I do have a signal generator though and I really must dig it out.
hi i seen this before the only thing you need to put in a test play back where the 2 liner tracks would be would be a full track mono play back i came in to when playing a liner mono full track the audio level were not right the sony c9 a mate i know had one bad cap in the audio side he was not pleased one bit i can tell you you said about servo cap's in a sony 950 he's having a hard time to get to cap changed over in the 950 as i can't deal with hin he's a con man like the real hustle he un masked now
The linear stereo audio has a slightly wider physical tape width so will work well on mono machines although you could argue that alignment of the ACE could be skewed as a result but ultimately, it would be absolutely fine especially as one of my official Sony cassettes had stereo linear audio.
