Seth is a great salesman, low key, reasons to buy, no sensationalism, good product demo, and nice guy vibe. More manufacturers would do well to line up with Feider. He is a strong competitor. I nicknamed him "Sudden Death Seth"
This is a great video! Thanks Wired and Seth. Love all the info and links to all the equipment used. All around outstanding. Represent MN! We got some "biggins" as Seth would say.
Seth showing those southern guys how to make an instructional video. Seven minute video and he boats 6-7 good fish. I love those vids when it's a 7-10 minute video about how good a presentation is and they catch one 10" dink the entire vid.
What rod and action were you using/recommend? I have a 7'5" Heavy Fast rod I use for pitching but am wondering if the length is an issue for trying to skip with this setup and jigs.
A shorter rod can be a little easier to skip, but you can certainly do it with a longer rod. You have to just change your swinging motion a bit. I am more of a proponent of picking a rod you like and then just keep practicing with that same rod over and over and you will develop the feel with that same setup. If you try it with a bunch of different rods, the learning curve is a little longer.
To me, a 7-6 rod is a giant, and there is no occasion when I'd want to use anything longer. A 7 is as big as I go for most things, and I want a 6-6 for this kind of fishing. Personal taste, and personal experience. I can't say I have any more of a problem with backlash fishing jigs like this than I do at any other time. It's all a matter of having the reel adjusted for what you're doing.

As a fellow Minnesotan I really appreciate the video and Seth's experience, but I started skipping docks with jigs this year and found that 50-65 pound braid (Recommended by Greg Hackney) (even in "gin clear" water) skips much easier with far fewer backlashes than 20 lb fluorocarbon. I caught a ton of bass and had zero issues with docks being hard on the braid. Maybe I need to try other brands of fluoro or some different reels, but so far trying to do this with fluorocarbon has been a disaster. Any helpful tips would be appreciated!
good video. matter of fact, I enjoy watching most of your videos in general, whether learning something or not. but I am curious and feel I must point out, in your online review of sunline sniper, I wonder why you make flouro out to be an unmanageable, disasterous, scary, godzilla mess at all times with no exceptions. just think about that for a minute... I've been bass fishing for almost 25 years, so it does not apply to me, but for a new angler trying to get into bass fishing, are you trying to scare them off from fishing? it's just the over dramatic exaggerations are unnecessary, yea? just a thought. keep fishin.
Feider is a monster. Love his videos because he gives so much good information!
He really pulls no punches. Spills everything he has learned to really try to help others. We enjoy working with guys like that!
he also sleeps in for duck hunting
The line on the spool is a great tip. Thanks!

Awesome tips Seth! Keep representing Minnesota!

Very impressive catches for up north.
Great bunch of fish during this trip. Nice video.
Just like that! Makes it look effortless!
Good tips. Good vid. Skipping has been a challenge.
Thanks Doug. Good luck building this important but challenging skill (especially with casting equip).

CZYK Republic it looks to me that he’s on a smaller lake with probably less pressure
Great video Seth. If you do another skipping video could we see how you cast the bait? Thanks.

What jig trailer is that? Thought it was a paca but no zig zags on claws and color not available.
Might be homemade.
cool vid, thumbs up

Were you using the Steez SVF AGS 7'1" heavy or the 7'6" heavy in the vid?
Hi Tim, Seth just confirmed that he was using the 7'6'' Heavy.
thanx great vid!
Was this Minnesota
Jig trailer wise, I'm confused on what shape and size do you recommend?
