From one indiana boy to another... you are awesome man! You have taught me a lot. The only other places I really learn good stuff from is tactical bassin, bass U, and Richard Gene fishing machine lol
I would add 2 things. You should use a white jig when making us skipping videos so we can see it better and I would recommend using jigs with a screw lock head when skipping because the trailer tends to tear and loosen up after smacking the water a few times. You're the man JDub!🇺🇸🤙
Big thanks for the tips. Hearing you mention rhw home pond of Lake Normam gives a guy a warm fuzzy feeling. Need to get you to come out to Norman and take part of some fundraising tournaments. There is a large group of anglers working to raise funds and work with the state to put F1's in Norman. They have been holding Saturday night tournaments to raise funds and are working towards a fall purchase of fingerlings
Great tips I've been trying this the past 3 times out just like you said the more you practice the better you get (just takes some of us Lil longer) bring on all the in depth vids u can please and thank you sir
I would love to see how and why you chose specific docks to target in the post spawn or any time of the year you target boat docks! (Much like your MLF table rock event)
Was hoping that you would cover another type of dock architecture. Some of the bigger marina docks are constructed with an under water (+4 Feet deep) brace that runs the length of the boat slip opening. It's usually mounted on the walkway on each side of the boat slip opening. What is your approach on that type of dock? At times bass will setup along those underwater braces.
Thank you brother! Great video man. I've been waiting for a good video on skipping boat docks with a baitcaster. I'm great with a spinning rod but afraid to try skippin with my bait casters....birds nest city right!!! Lol. 👊 Thanks again!👊
This was good not quite what I was asking I guess cuz I am a descent dock skipper/flipper, I can get under just about any I guess what I wanted was the other part of it like when, why, the advantages of a dock when your lake is prodominately docks, what baits work best based on season etc..thanks
Where do you position yourself on the front deck? Being under 6ft tall I struggle with avoiding the driver's console and trolling motor on my 17 ft boat.
I feel like I'm fairly decent at skipping jigs, but I guarantee you that if I tried to roll skip one-handed my rod would be the first thing that went up underneath that boat 🤣🤣
Jacob... I'm curious, how tall are you? Great video! The only thing I think may help beginners that was not mentioned is the trailer on the jig. The larger and flatter the surface of the trailer - like a big chunk or the wider creature bait like you used - is much easier to skip than smaller, thinner trailers. Keep up the great work!
Thanks again for another great video. I do have a question; have you ever gotten upset boat owners yelling at you with all that practice you have to do to get good, or at least better? From what you are telling us, hitting docks and boats could get a lot of upset people chasing you away. I think I would use empty slips for a while first.
Hey Jacob great video! Looking for more in depth video on floating docks like Lake of the Ozarks and Table rock lake when the fish are suspended up under the floats and not on the bottom. Trips tricks ect. Also skipping between the floats with topwater? Thoughts? Thanks and wish you the best! God bless
Yes... I want to know that also. Do you let the jig sink to bottom after you skip it in there or do you swim it out? I know during Shad spawn you would mainly swim it and keep it high in water column but for other times of year??
Could you do a video of pond/lake fishing on foot for all of us poor schmoes that don't have a boat please? I would assume the approach would be different?
Not much different at all... If Jacob wants to do a pond video, then he can drive about 20 minutes from his house down to mine and make a video in one of my bass ponds on my property that I intensely manage and have some good fish in them...
Ignore them and scream... "Hey, KAREN!!! Can I borrow a net 'cause it's a GIANT!!!" When & if you set the hook on a fish @ her dock ... But, really... They don't own it... for example on Lake Chickamauga or any Reservoir that's water dammed up on the Tennessee River... actually TVA actually owns it... and elsewhere in the country, where the ownership of the shore around the lake applies. From full summer pool to 10ft up higher than that... TVA has to give you permission to build a dock, then tells you how far off the bank it can extend and how many total square feet you can have EXCLUDING the walkway out to it...
I will add your eyes need to be looking where you want your bait to go. You will hit your target 9/10 times if you look at the target. Not at your bait or off of the target.
1 technique could be the pattern to win several events!! Practice makes perfect for everything in life. I am getting better each trip to the James river and Lake Chesdin in my hometown of Va. ! Shout out RippinLipsInc on your channel in any video much appreciated friend! I need more Viewers to know my channel. You are more popular mentor for many anglers including myself. Shout outs are also easy to do... Thanks Jacob! #RippinLipsInc on You Tube.
I've always understood slow tip to be more parabolic and loads easier, and a fast tip is just the opposite. I've watched this video several times and it seems like Jacob is saying it backwards...which is unlikely since it's Jacob Wheeler. I'm confused.
What I can't figure out is why "you people" use right handed reels where you have to keep switching what hand your rod is in when you make a cast vs when you're reeling it in. If you'd use a left handed reel you'd always keep your rod in your right hand and never switch back and forth like you do. You cast using your right hand then reel your bait in with your right hand always switching back and forth, much less efficient. My rod never leaves my right hand...giggidy.
JDub. I would like to see and in depth video on graphing offshore. How and why you look at a particular point or drop or flat, etc. Love your videos
I’ll definitely add that one too the list
I would also love to see like what rod you use for each crank bait
And then there's the type of dock not mentioned: the Nevada dock. They're particularly tricky because they simply don't exist.
🤣
Enter the fist... lol
This is probably the best video I’ve seen on the topic as far as going in depth and not just showing a bait skipping, thank you!
From one indiana boy to another... you are awesome man! You have taught me a lot. The only other places I really learn good stuff from is tactical bassin, bass U, and Richard Gene fishing machine lol

the mother of all dock fishing tutorials.
Damn..... As a Lake Travis angler I REALLY like this one. Wheeler giving us some serious juice. Thanks bud!

Thanks for your teaching 😎
Greetings from the land of entrapment 😂 Albuquerque NM
I always thumbs up the minute I get in your video I don’t think it’s possible for you to do a bad video always very informative!
Thank you so much Jacob I can skipp pretty good but the only way I was good at docks was dropshoting but you just helped me so much thanks man
This is a great video Jacob! I personally don’t know how to fish them very well. So thank you for these awesome tips!
I am love the great How To videos that everyone is putting out! Thank you!
One great thing about the internet is the pros can share these ways for us to get better
i would really appreciate if you would do a in depth guide cause i'm tryna learn everything i can and i love your content and thank you jacob
Can you do an off shore video on what you look for in a spot and what conditions play into bass being off shore
Current, forage, weather, moon, fishing pressure
Pretty close in that order...
You’re awesome my favorite fisherman besides DC y’all got me into fishing and I haven’t looked back!!!
Yes I want to see want ur looking for and where u make ur cast on the docks
Can’t thank you enough. Just a great video packed full of great knowledge!
Great tips I've been trying this the past 3 times out just like you said the more you practice the better you get (just takes some of us Lil longer) bring on all the in depth vids u can please and thank you sir
Thanks Jacob!
Please do a video on dock selection and location for summer patterns
I would love to see how and why you chose specific docks to target in the post spawn or any time of the year you target boat docks! (Much like your MLF table rock event)
I am so far from your level, I don't even have a boat. But your video's are very good and who wouldn't want to learn from the best at it.
Good stuff Wheeler! 🎣 👊🏼💯🇺🇸
Thanks for the tips my friend!
I fish bull shoals and table rock all the time I definitely need to fish more docks!
You DOG!!!! You are so dam smooth
Excellent. Definitely saving this one.

You should do a video on how you scan for your tournaments
Great video

Is that Bass pro shops in the background! 😱
Thank you I struggle fishing docks the really helped
No problem! You're a quick learner! 😉
@@WheelerFishing I’m pretty good at skipping I just go to fast under the dock I need to slowdown
Hey Wheeler, when is that Percy priest lake video coming out? It’s such a unique lake.😃
This was good not quite what I was asking I guess cuz I am a descent dock skipper/flipper, I can get under just about any I guess what I wanted was the other part of it like when, why, the advantages of a dock when your lake is prodominately docks, what baits work best based on season etc..thanks

Yes more docks and lay downs.
Awesome video
yea tyersreelfishing you are right u trust Mr. Wheelers also I am trust him
Great video!

I’m not him but skippin a buzzbait under them docks would be really good if they are suspended. They skip really good too
JW is a GOAT.
Great video, thanks! Does Red Bull sponsor you?
Thank you
If your fishing say a jig...does your retreive change if the dock is in 25 ft of water compared to 5 ft of water?
Yes... I want to know that also. Do you let the jig sink to bottom after you skip it in there or do you swim it out? I know during Shad spawn you would mainly swim it and keep it high in water column but for other times of year??
If you could go more in depth of fishing the front or at the back by walkway of dock by bank is more effective or something to that effect.
Could you recommend a good jig combo from 100$-150$ I love your videos I work so hard as a 14 year old.
the most impressive part is how you skip with 1 hand lol. If im out skipping docks and i try to cast with 1 hand ill hit every one of them!
I struggle so much fishing docks here in florida, it just seems like they are in the grass rather than under docks
Could you do a video of pond/lake fishing on foot for all of us poor schmoes that don't have a boat please? I would assume the approach would be different?

Take me under your wing. JW. Dang take me fishing. Lol
Ding... how would u deal w dock owners who don't want u to fish around their dock?
Ignore them and scream... "Hey, KAREN!!! Can I borrow a net 'cause it's a GIANT!!!" When & if you set the hook on a fish @ her dock ...
But, really...

I havent even tried skipping baits.....

Very good advice... I agree

what length fluorocarbon do you use when using it with braid?
I've always understood slow tip to be more parabolic and loads easier, and a fast tip is just the opposite. I've watched this video several times and it seems like Jacob is saying it backwards...which is unlikely since it's Jacob Wheeler. I'm confused.
What line do you use? LB flouro? i cant seem to find a good line for my baitcaster -_-
You didn’t mention to start low and end high
J dubs don't be blowing my cover on fishing dock cables on table rock. No one needs to know about that lol.
buddy had a 200 on his pontoon boat lmao fuckin give'er
What pound test mono would be good for this?
Lots of factors...
H²0 clarity
Cover fished
Fish size
Rod and reel size
Mono absorbs H²0, it stretches alot, and is not as sensitive as the others
I clicked on this very fast

Humans and most mammals are absolutely creatures of habit...
Jiffy
Please keep making videos, and start hacking some JW wear!
Pistol grip*
Have u ever been yelled at by the boat owners for bouncing baits off there boats
Thanks Jacob!
