- Guerlain are treating us to two new Privé fragrances in their men's fragrances line up. Habit Rouge Rouge Privé and L'Homme Ideal Platine Privé are brand new fragrances for 2023. The brand promised new modern reimaginings of classic scents. In my opinion this is the case for one ONE of these fragrances but there's something a little fishy about the other.

I own a 100ml bottle of L'omme Ideal Cologne that only has about 20% left and a 50ml backup bottle that's sealed. The fact that this is a re-release is actually a selling point, I fucking love L'omme Ideal Cologne.
I tried the Cologne and while I really liked it, I prefer Platine Prive slightly more. Either way though, it's a good thing they released this cause the Cologne is gone. It would only be a meh release if they were still selling the Cologne.
It had the exact same notes breakdown as L'Homme Ideal Cologne, I was surprised nobody was mentioning that in any of the videos that I saw. I'm glad that brought it back, but it seemed like it was definitely gonna be a re-release of that. Really interested to try the new HR though.
I got Platine Prive this week, and I should get Habit Rouge Rouge Prive in a few days. LOVE Platine Prive (my wife loves it even more), and I'm very much looking forward to getting Rouge Prive.

I love both Habit Rouge EDT/EDP and L’homme Ideal Cologne. Yesterday, I was able to take the first sniff of Habit Rouge Prive and L’homme Ideal Platine Prive - and it was no surprise that I loved both!
I got the chance to buy the original Cologne, good to know Platine Privé is the same, the one I need is Habit Rouge Privé, but as you said, later... Thanks for the review Chris!!!
In just bought it and the rose is definately quite prominent. The leather seems to stay close on your skin, but when i return to the room where i had applied the stuff, the rose is the first you will smell . The sillage is mainly rose and bergamotte.

@@jimlittle5769 well, I found it for a good price, so I finally pulled the trigger. I just wanted a creamy citrus in my collection, and Chanel AH Edition Blanche wasn't the one for me. My favourite is Uden, but it doesn't have my favourite price! 🤣

I love the house of Guerlain. Luckily I managed to buy 3 bottles of Ideal Cologne before it was disco'd. Have 2 left. I too paid less than £20 each for my 50ml bottles. Bloody fantastic summer frag. 👍 I've had the original Habit Rouge for a few years now. Love it, but it's definitely a classic smelling frag. The good thing is you'll smell unique compared to everyone else wearing. Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel or Aventus / Aventus clones. 😂

Thanks for the warning on Platine! I’d been meaning to order it all week. Went to do so yesterday and it was out of stock. I’ve got a full (larger) bottle of the Cologne. Unfortunately the Habit not available in the US.
After finally getting my hands on Ideal Cologne, I realized it’s Dior Cologne with almond and more depth.
I’ve got the EdP and the EdT, will be getting both of these bad boys when they hit my ends in Tokyo. I adore the Ideal line and literally no one rocks Guerlain anything over here, let alone the l’homme ideal bits n bobs.

This was exactly as expected. I'll soon have both too and I'm more than happy. It does help that I got mine from France at a much reduced cost. Both amounted to a total of £140.
Incidentally, my bottle of Prada Luna Rossa Ocean EDP arrived this morning so I'll be interested to hear what you think of it. I think its a vast improvement over the EDT (which has grown on me).

The fragrantica reviews say that platine is not the same as cologne but that it is a refined mature version of cologne. Looking forward to more reviews on this one. I have three bottles of cologne, but if this one is slightly different I’m gonna take the bullit 😂

I got both in last week and sold my rouge prive the next day. My wife says it smells like a grandma perfume wich i kinda agree with, its def not for younger people. Platine prive is the same as cologne but i love that stuff so im very happy with that one!
Thank you Chris. The notes of Platine Prive did seem too similar to cologne and now you have confirmed my hunch. I still have close to 95% juice so i think atleast i can afford to wait for Platine Prive to hit discounters :)

Rouge Privé is an exceptional flanker. I have been wearing HR EDT and EDP for years and Privé is a really solid reinterpretation of the OG. Great leather note, great vanilla, and yes, I smell rose. Well worth the retail price- it’s very hard to beat Guerlain quality at that price point. Platine Privé is the Cologne on steroids. Again, if you like the Homme Ideal line, you will enjoy this for sure. Great grapefruit/ citrus at the top, long lasting creamy finish. Excellent product. Enjoy.

probably the rose smell your smelling is the combination of nerol, iris components and probably some damascones. but it has more notes than listed for sure. like woods, musks or iso e super, hedione etc. which are not even under jasmine or woods. so its part marketing bs. actually i just checked the ingredients and it has citronellol, which is an component of rose. so your right :)

Good trick. Discontinue a loved frag, it sells out like hot cookies to the fans. Then release the same frag in a different bottle and name... a lot of buy it because its "new" and fans will buy because they will be happy to see that their loved frag is back.

I’d say I get better performance than Eau Givree. I think the creamy quality adds a bit of body which helps it last longer.

I’m surprised the price for the original cologne didn’t go up even higher than what they are selling for prior to this release. Well at least I know I can wear my bottle now. I kind of stopped wearing it as often because it was discontinued
