I've said many times I disliked gourmand scents but that's not strictly correct. A gourmand fragrance is one that entices with hints of gustatory (usually sweet) delights, in a cheeky, almost sexual, sensory provocation. By this notion, Shalimar is definitely gourmand, with its vanilla sweetness obscuring a harsh leather. But the queen of all gourmands has to be 1992s Angel. However, amidst chocolate and cotton candy, juicy fruits and spun sugar, the tiny bright blue star managed to retain an aura of distinct identity as a fragrance, and not something one spreads on toast. Alas, the gourmand market (and current tastes) have evolved towards blurring the line between fragrance and food aromas, some people's sweet tooth making a demand for increasingly edible smelling perfumes. I say all this because Guerlain's latest launch, the confusingly named Habit Rouge Parfum, is the type of gourmand fragrance I dislike the most. While being far removed from Habit Rouge Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, L'Eau, Sport, Rouge Privé (to cite a few of the nice flankers), Parfum 2024 is little more than raisin rum pastry with some echoes of 2015s Dress Code. As delicious as it may sound, I certainly do not want to smell like that.
Once the Parfum dries down it gets quite close to the Dresscode. Also get's more powdery and less sweet. I don't like Habit Rouge but I like the Parfum. I might get it once it becomes available at discounters.
Great review. You have a very refined nose. Habit Rouge Parfum works well layered with other Guerlains like L'Homme Ideals and L'Instinct but I certainly like it on it's own.
Habit rouge prive is just wouah wouah wouah...fantastic perfume! Wouah..!!! Your video explains it amazingly..guerlain must remove all the previous habit rouge versions and keep this one.. really fantastic. I just bought it and will be my signature for a while. Guerlain shows his power with HR privé after the disappointment of the HR edp and HR instinct...again privé is the best reformulation of the original HR
You know what? I agree. Even though The Edt is still my favourite, Prive is absolutely gorgeous, and it proves Habit Rouge could have been this all along
Believe it or not, my first Habit Rouge was the Privé. I absolutely loved it! Then, the parfum version arrived, and I got it, but unfortunately, I didn't like it as much. Now, my favorite is the EDP because it's the closest to the Privé. It's not better, but since the Privé is discontinued, I'd rather not finish it.
Well, I do love the Prive but i find the EDT to be closest to it and still my favourite! I’m obsessed with Parfum right now, been wearing it non stop. A new video on Habit Rouge Parfum is coming 😅
haaaa... i tested Habit Rouge Parfum ... kinda like it ... but i´m not a fan of overly sweet fragrances like Lira :D .... if this is very similar to Lira or Italica it´s fair enough to get only 30ml of Lira or Italica ... have you tried Italica from casamorati ?
A new video is in the works for HR Parfum. It is sweet indeed, the opening is detestable, true. But the drydown is amazing. It’s worth exploring on the skin, trust me. On me, after about 2 hours is this dry, smokey, leathery vanilla which indeed is gorgeous. I would NEVER recommend or buy trash like Lira.
Well, if i smelled it, it didn’t leave an impression. I might’ve, cause they do keep them at my local niche store, but I was never huge on Diptyque. I can tell you that I’ve worn HR Parfum like crazy, though.

I will get it myself, the drydown is indeed, gorgeous.

Thank you! That’s a very intriguing thought, i haven’t thought of layering in a while

@@MemoryFlo - yeah, tested it and now am hesitating between Eau Duelle Edp and Habit Rouge Parfum … are you familiar with Eau Duelle edp ?
@miles-178 i don’t think so, is that a diptyque? Or whatever they’re spelled?
@@MemoryFlo - yeah Diptyque

What intrigued you about Vertiver Parfum?
Before smelling it? The fact that Vetiver hasn’t had a flanker or wasn’t mentioned in years! The anticipation, the possibilities!
@@MemoryFlo Lol watching your review rn. Didn't know you already reviewed it😅
Also, that, yes😂
No L'Instinct ? 🤔🤔😂
No 🥴
