I love the focus not only on the options for ornamentation, but their impact on the desired feel. It's great to have a "plan" even when improvising on the spot!

Hi Enda for me your are a very special banjo teacher you explain the banjo technique so well and your varying style of picking is very special. Michael is my name from Tralee and hopefully I will meet up with you at the fleadh 2023 and let you know the two high end banjos I play. 👍

Thanks Enda, that's a great tune, ta fr the tips. I've wondered how you play G tunes with your G string tunes to A? I've tried it and it's great for D/A/ Am tunes but then I lose the banjo resonance and depth on G tunes without that G string in the mix...! Do you retune ? Cheers!

It is a bit of a tradeoff for sure. But I reckoned that with D G and A being the three main keys that I was in the advantage for 2 out of 3!

Referring to 5:03 Would you be able to elaborate on what you mean by "a light bracing of the index finger"? I started working on Pressed For Time, and I don't understand what is different in your right hand when you briefly play it, so I would be interested in more details :) Thanks for the videos!

    • @IrishTenorBanjo

I misspoke! I meant to say pinky finger. So a light support of the right hand by planting the pinky finger on the head. I said index by accident 😊

@@IrishTenorBanjo Gotcha! Thank you so much for the fast answer, that is very helpful! Coming from somebody who plays with his ring and pinky finger down all the time :D
