This remains my single most disappointing video game experience. I picked it up at somewhere like Kmart as a kid for like 12 bucks, didn’t look closely and assumed it would be a straightforward adventure game. No, it was classroom simulator. I never made it past those brutal trainings
For me it was a mix of a lot of issues. It was extremely difficult, it was short and I didn't speak English. But it needed tons of trial and error which gave me lots of play time at least
"Most people never saw past the old lady scenario as she probably shot you dead." Yep, that's why I'm here, my guy, to learn how to play. Finally got the game after 28 years, only to get capped by a paranoid old woman. 🤣 Also spent a literal hour of real time on the small arms range because I didn't realise you could just leave after the instructor says "put 'em on safe and let 'em hang".
@@datatsushi2016 I remember being extremely impressed by the graphics and video while disappointed by the frustrating gameplay. After a few failed attempts I did just as you mentioned; I went on a full killing spree.
i made it past her but with my friends dads help. he was a cop locally here and loved this game. i never beat the game tho. swat 3 came out when i was in jr. high so... that kinda took over
23+ years later, SWAT teams still use these tactics except instead of mirrors we have drones and robots now to clear areas before moving. You also don’t see many shotguns and MP5s used, most SWAT teams have switched to short barrel AR15/M4 carbines
I could see the spray of a shotgun being a liability. Interesting to know the MP5 isn't used much. Be cool to see this game made a little more user friendly and remade to use drones and robots like in use today.
Welcome to the SWAT team, fellow ACME detective. I like this game, even though I never played it before. This game & Battlefield Hardline inspired me to make LEGO minifigures of a SWAT team for the ACME Detective Agency. I also have miniature wargaming figures of SWAT teams for my ACME SWAT team.
I see all these comments remembering this game as a kid, and here I am who bought this game as a young 20 something after I bought my first computer around '96.
i grew up *trying* to play SWAT 2 and i really loved it.. Shame they didn't stick to that RTS style.. but had no idea the original was like this.. pretty damn cool with all the info and training.
You're standing in my spot, sir. OK, I know that's a different Swat game, but couldn't resist the reference. 😉😂🤣 And 2 hours, worked great as background noise tonight during my gaming session. Specially combined with other long videos from today, damn, Jim Cornette 😉, but did enjoy listening to this. Thank you so much for this.
I have this game still today in my cd collection of cult games from the 90s!!! I bought it along with other 2 cool games: A-10 Tank Killer and Swat 4 (because I already owned 2 and 3) when they opened the first GAMESTOP store in Asti, Italy, the town where I live... They were sold for few money in an economic version of the game, without the manual... Only the cd roms and the plastic cd protection... It was a way to sell more to younger people with no much money to spend on the "first edition releases"!!! Ah ah ah... I had and have not so much money to spend on videogames, unfortunately. Of the 3 games bought, SWAT 1 was the unique game I could not be able to finish... I was stuck on the mission involving the drug addicted freak-ganger...
I played this. I’d beat the first mission. And they just keep having me replay it over and over until I eventually failed it. So frustrating. Never got another mission call up. Still have fond memories playing it. But it was trash.
I just started playing this myself! I'm playing the GOG version, but I think the sniper qualification test is bugged. I can get to final part when you have to shoot inside the nine red squares. I can shoot dead middle in one just to hear "target missed completely." It's frustrating!
I got the original game, i bought it on CD back when it was released. I got a few old pentium 2 computers, perhaps there even is a pentium 3 in the mix. To be honest, no clue. They are old stuff which i got for free. They worked when i got em. I just stored em, stacked ontop of eachother. Imagine if i can get one of em old machines running again, lets suppose a pentium 2, or 3. Would the game work on that, the original cd game you could buy? One time in the past i knew all of this, but i have become old and not put too much effort into maintaining the knowledge. As in, loosing interest in that old junk. But, i remember playing this game, and also never got past those brutal trainings. And now i see you play it. A year ago. Or well, this video was posted a year ago. Is it possible to play it on a computer running windows 7 or 10? Or is it possible to play this game online somewhere?
I nearly bought this when I was 12 years old. I'm glad I didn't. I just purchased this on Steam and it's nearly impossible. SWAT 2 and SWAT 3 were a million miles better than this, and less frustrating.
Great footage, man, but you should have had spoken only when in the game none was talking... I mean... The in game speaking men and your voice overlap... And it is difficult to understand what you say...

Me too haha I remember me and my brothers being so disappointed by this we returned it
I got this as a birthday gift when I was younger. Never beat the first mission with the old lady

As a kid I think I only ever got to the old lady mission and failed it every time to the point I quit playing it.

lol the trick to have fun with this game was to shoot everything and everyone and see how you could mess up in other ways (and there are PLENTY)

Me over 20 years later watching the intro instructor vid and somehow magically remembering 50% of that spiel. 😨
If your experience was like mine, you heard that intro a lot after the grandma killed you and you started over, lol

Ah, .... games from the era where the game was 80% video and 20% gameplay. Can't say I miss those days much :P

The little old lady in this game gave me fucking nightmares as a child. Only reason I'm here. Wish we could've seen a few more of her finishers. 😂

Swat 2 is pretty great
Ever want to see how easy it is to NOT die in the first scenario? Or see a bunch of ways to accidentally mess up? Check this video out!
SWAT 3 GOTY edition was my introduction to this series. Loved SWAT 3
the gal saying "Barricaded female, N. Hollywood Area..." she sounds like a reporter.

Ahh yes. Spoony sand his SWAT 4 LP
I COULD NEVER BEAT THE OLD LADY SCENARIO
I couldn't either until I figured out the LASH

yeah, it is a commentary video, sorry! I'd just upload a non commentary if i didn't want to talk about it!
Daryl Gates was the Chief of the LAPD, hence the use of his name.
...yes...he was...
Daryl Gates is the founder of Microsoft.
@@afridgetoofar1818Bill / Daryl easy mistake.. 🤔😜
How do you get this to work on modern pc’s?
GOG.com
Thank you
It's neat with that 90's SWAT aesthetic, but I think it's the worst out of the SWAT series and I've played nearly all of them.
Too much commentary; finding another video
ok, lol you do that. Who actually cares?
