moving forward its good to start leveling the 2nd mastery. there are exceptions but generally speaking its good to get a skill or two fully powered up from 1st mastery and then start on the next
you can look for rings/weapons that have the prefix "static", "freezing", or "burning" at vendors. you can also buy a scroll of storm witches to summon birds to help. and lastly to be honest you can just use battle standard and do enough brute physical damage to kill him its just helpful to have another type of dmg.
save stats till later but if you must - 2:1 str to dex ratio is ok for warfare as a start. later in the game i tend to put a max of ~20 points into health
