Reggie is a great guest everytime. I love his enthusiasm for the games that he likes, some people that really love games aren't as enthusiastic, they seem more apathetic, so Reggie is a refreshing change.
My name is Jeff No idea but i just downloaded the rom and currently playing it on my android Galaxy Tab 4 with a synced ps3 controller, so far so good.
@@ExtremeWreck How is he better than Metal Jesus? He mispronounces game names (e.g. VERSE Mario Bros., MILTON'S Secret Castle) and deals mostly in bootlegs, hacks, mods, etc.
@Wucken Fasted Although I actually didn't say that makes him worse (what I asked was how does it make Reggie better than Metal Jesus) INITIALLY. But now that you're challenging me on this, I'm going to say yes, it does make him worse if Reggie can't even pronounce the names of games correctly! And also, it's of very little surprise to me that a bIack guy would be the go to person for discussing bootleg games. ROFLMAO!
PikoInteractive That is one of the best looking games of this video, so I'm pretty stoked to hear this news! Please keep me informed when it gets close to shipping and maybe we can do something on my channel to help promote it. Thanks!
PikoInteractive This actually brings up a good point - More companies should follow your example, because there clearly is a market for Import games to be brought over to the SNES market with a physical releases. I'm sure most game collectors would prefer to have these professionally created with nice boxes and manuals AND still support the copyright owner.
Here's a little fun fact about megaman ultra. It had a sequel that would tie the classic series and x series together by having wily take x and awake him before he was put through years of testing. Thus he goes crazy, unfortunately the hack creator Infidelity stopped production due to personal issues. You can still download the beta from board 2.
Don't know if anybody already said this but I feel its a little important, there are 2 models of Sega Dreamcast, 1 & 2. The first model is the one that can play games using the bootloader disc; the model 2 cannot. Its impossible to tell between the two other than flipping it over and looking at a little tiny circle with a number 1 or 2 in it. Thought people should know that though in case it wasn't clarified.
I bought 3 repro SNES carts before deciding to get an Everdrive instead, I recommend people look into them before spending a lot of money on lots of repros. I now have one for the SNES, MegaDrive and N64, and they are awesome
Hey, I'm flattered you guys enjoyed Final Fantasy VII. I am Lugia2009, the project leader for the project. Thanks for featuring it on your RUclips guys :)
Firemen is an amazing game! To be honest, you don't really need an English translated version for that particular game because it's pretty straight forward. I recommend getting the ROM and trying it out for yourselves. Thanks for mentioning this one for people, Reggie. Great vid as always, gentlemen.
You know it's going to be a good episode when Reggie is the guest. The firemen & Iron Commando look like really cool games I'd actually like to play; that FF7 repro though...that's such an awesome thing to at least own.
What I like most about that black FF7 is that the black itself is very reminiscent of the black PS1 discs. Makes the whole thing feel a little more natural.

MetalJesusRocks Do you know if this wizard (no sarcasm) Eric, could add new music to a game? ie: 8 bit Rust In Peace full album to Castlevania? I'm listening to Iron Maiden 8 bit right now while prepping a scenario on Gemfire. ( Sarthe against 28 separate families. )

You know what the ironic part is? FFVII actually looks better on NES... In my opinion at least... Those 3D models and pre-rendered backgrounds from the PS1 game have aged hideously... They should have made it for the SNES, it would have been a lot better! With those 16 bit graphics and amazing sound...
Ruko Michiharu Better? Did you see the sketchy looking backgrounds in some of the screens in this video? I mean we all have our opinions but I think you're giving it too much credit.
Ruko Michiharu I understand how horrible they look but the nostalgia factor runs so deep I can brush it off. I actually enjoy when they go into popeye mode.
loserhero1982 Well, I actually missed out on this game when I had my PS1, because of that I have no nostalgia towards it... I can see why people love it to death though...
That FF7 was actually a Chinese famicom bootleg, but a team of hackers took their code and made it better, even coding in new music by hand. If you can believe it, the original one used odd arrangements of FF3 music. XP
Hot head joe is a game called 三目童子, it's based on an anime of the name. Half way in each show, you get him summoning his iconic red spear, and the incantation, to this very day, I still remember it.
This is the problem with people. You have zero patience. Why not stick with the whole video and enjoy it while learning something new. If you can't deal with an 11 video I don't know who you will deal with much longer and harder things in life.
Lukey331's comment is the problem with people, why force others to live their life the way you want them to? What does it hurt for others to help someone else who doesn't want to sit through the video when they don't want to see ANYTHING but that part?
Recca Summer Carnival is AMAZING! I discovered it on my 3ds via eshop and I was hooked! It's such a beautiful game and its impressive to see what the devs could do with the limitations of the hardware.
.Lctrfnstrhbr It was originally a game made in China and someone translated it and made it a little more playable I don't know by whom. You don't need to ask someone to make a repro out of it but if you want that exact cartridge they'll say who you can buy it from.
.Lctrfnstrhbr i recommend getting an NES everdrive shop.krikzz.com/EverDrive-N8-NES-EDN8NES.htm and then downloading the rom of this game to play on your NES.
Hey MetalJesus, now that I've gotten used to your goatee I really think you should try the full beard - full coverage, reasonably groomed. You'll look like a Bee Gee, but cool and metal!!! :)
The original cart was just a Chinese bootleg, but the team at romhacking.net completely remade the entire game from start to finish. They redid the sound, the music, the fights, the events, the script, all the graphics, they balanced it and fixed countless bugs... they really deserve big kudos for their work. The repro in the vid is a prepatched rom, but so little of the game is from the original Shenzhen Nanjing version that it's really like an entirely new game. It's one of the most (maybe the most) comprehensive romhacks ever.
www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,17290.0.html is the link to the romhack itself, and www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php/topic,12466.0.html is the (77 page long!!!) forum thread dedicated to bringing this masterpiece to life.
someone whos been watching for about a year videos like this really show how important your channel is. i know you need funds but dial back and remember where you started. take a trip across the country on your own accord maybe. when i watch vidz like this one i purchase these games. reggie is one of your best guests. always evolve dont get stagnant
The black guy said what needs to be said. He said that FF7 was his favorite but it was not the best one in the series. I'm sick of all the fan boys riding on FF nuts saying that FF7 was the best. I have zero issues with you enjoying FF7 and it being your favorite but to say that it's the best FF in the series is a joke. Just admit the truth and enjoy a game for what it is. But don't ever think that it's even the best FF out there.
The Super Mario Bros. arcade game was one I enjoyed quite a bit as a kid. It was at an old movie theater that has since been torn down but we'd go almost every week and I'd spend a couple of bucks on the game. I got very good at it. Never beat it but I did come close. I'd love to have it on my NES.
i really thought i nearly had completed my snes and ps1 rpg collection and its great to find out about other ways to enjoy the hobby and know i have a long way now until it gets complete and thanks for the upload guys =)
I gotta get me more repros, man. It's one of the craziest things to be playing old consoles in 2018, but damn if there's always stuff you never knew about to check out now! Love these videos - they remind me to buy stuff I knew about, put WAY more new things on my radar, and probably make eBay very happy since that's where I go to get stuff (I know Etsy also has a bunch of people who do excellent repros though). MetalJesus and Reggie; you guys rule \m/
I've seen my hack, Final Fantasy VI Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition being sold on Repro Carts. I'm glad it plays on real consoles but I'm not made them myself.
I know I'm late to the party but let's do a poll. If you could have your own game made or have another game modified for you what would it be? For example, I think mine would be a 16-bit action RPG. I'd want something like a Zelda game with more NPCs.
The Final Fantasy 7 on famicom was a pirate cart originally. Then it was discovered on the romhack.net forums where a team got together to recreate ff7 properly by changing maps, music, ai, text, and difficulty. There also exists multiple famicom pokemon pirate games made by the same bootleg company that made the FF7 one
Very very nice Repros/Hacks you've got out there I knew some of them but the surprise was definitely FFVII I can't imagine the amount of time & effort that went to do it !! Thanks for the video MJ & Reggie ;)
The Cotton Dreamcast game won't play on all Dreamcasts. When it's a CD-R and a self-boot disc, it boots it via the "MIL method". Booting of MIL discs was done away with in the later Dreamcasts. Most Dreamcasts in the wild are the ones that can boot these discs so most people aren't aware that they don't work on some consoles. We have the Utopia (R.I.P.) group to thank for cracking the MIL scheme while the Dreamcast was still in production. They did some great work for the homebrew scene, but were one of the reasons Sega halted everything Dreamcast.
There was a game that was pretty much firemen with different graphics released here in the US. It was "The ignition factor" The graphics were dumbed down on it but game play is still pretty fun on it.
Reggie is a great guest everytime. I love his enthusiasm for the games that he likes, some people that really love games aren't as enthusiastic, they seem more apathetic, so Reggie is a refreshing change.

.Lctrfnstrhbr It was originally a game made in China and someone translated it and made it a little more playable I don't know by whom. You don't need to ask someone to make a repro out of it but if you want that exact cartridge they'll say who you can buy it from.
.Lctrfnstrhbr there's a link at 13:56
.Lctrfnstrhbr i recommend getting an NES everdrive shop.krikzz.com/EverDrive-N8-NES-EDN8NES.htm and then downloading the rom of this game to play on your NES.
BillyTheBigDeal
Gee I mean because that's fun to collect. I recommend just playing it on the computer by that point if we're gonna go there.
Gotta Admit the title got my attention. Good Stuff!!!!
Hey MetalJesus, now that I've gotten used to your goatee I really think you should try the full beard - full coverage, reasonably groomed. You'll look like a Bee Gee, but cool and metal!!! :)
thekorben the beard rises my brothers
Dude those are awesome. Your game collection is insane!
Wasn't that FFVII for the NES just a chinese translated bootleg?
DaniBlueFox the English seems too good for a bootleg, ESPECIALLY if it was Chinese, hell there are 90's JRPGs with notoriously bad translations
The translation is fanmade by English speaking people, but the game is a real chinese bootleg.
WRONG! This was made by group of American hackers/programmers.
someone whos been watching for about a year videos like this really show how important your channel is. i know you need funds but dial back and remember where you started. take a trip across the country on your own accord maybe. when i watch vidz like this one i purchase these games. reggie is one of your best guests. always evolve dont get stagnant
But don't ever think that it's even the best FF out there.
lukey331 the black guys name is reggie whining fan boy smh
Someone sounds butt hurt..
What a lovely _opinion_ !
Good idea making reprocarts and hack games reviews! There is so many interesting hacks to talk about. I wanna play reggie´s game someday.
I'm 4 years late but awesome video. I want to play FF7 after playing the remake when I can finally find a PS4
Super dodgeball
Diggin' this series of episodes the most! Keep 'em comin'!
Very very nice Repros/Hacks you've got out there
I knew some of them but the surprise was definitely FFVII
I can't imagine the amount of time & effort that went to do it !!
Thanks for the video MJ & Reggie ;)
I loved the video but I couldn't help but laugh. You guys look like discount C-Lo Green and discount Weird Al. lol. You are awesome!
The game about going into books is basically the page master
The Cotton Dreamcast game won't play on all Dreamcasts. When it's a CD-R and a self-boot disc, it boots it via the "MIL method". Booting of MIL discs was done away with in the later Dreamcasts. Most Dreamcasts in the wild are the ones that can boot these discs so most people aren't aware that they don't work on some consoles. We have the Utopia (R.I.P.) group to thank for cracking the MIL scheme while the Dreamcast was still in production. They did some great work for the homebrew scene, but were one of the reasons Sega halted everything Dreamcast.
thank you for sharing reggie's channel
Our local pizza shop here has an arcade machine of Twinkle Star Sprites and other Neo Geo classics set up. Always a treat to play
You even went all the way of featuring Barret in this video, awesome!
There was a game that was pretty much firemen with different graphics released here in the US. It was "The ignition factor" The graphics were dumbed down on it but game play is still pretty fun on it.
Wow! What a coincidence that the remake was announced so soon after this came out. Fun!
would love to hang out with these fella's one day.
