  • In this podcast episode, DARE coaches Michelle Cavanaugh and Aida Beco talked about anxiety and the importance of having a support system. They shared their personal experiences and highlights the difficulty of effectively communicating one's needs to loved ones. They emphasized the need for support during anxious moments rather than trying to eliminate anxiety altogether.
This podcast episode also touches on the issue of over-involvement and self-centeredness that can arise from anxiety and suggests involving others in activities to shift the focus away from anxiety. Aida and Michelle also talked about the challenge of balancing anxiety medication with anxiety relief methods and encourages acceptance and self-compassion throughout the recovery process.

this is a great topic to touch on because not a lot of people have the best support at home!
coming from an old fashion house hold I also struggle to explain to my family what anxiety is!

I didn’t have a “support person” which I’m thankful for because I’ve faced anxiety head on. I did have people who experienced anxiety and recovered but I did things on my own.

What is an average length of time that those using DARE find success in being anxiety free?

It varies from one person to another. I started noticing improvements in a couple of weeks, and I felt mostly back to normal within 3 months. I practiced the skills every day but was also careful to be kind and gentle with myself, resting when I felt the need. Allow yourself to let go of a timeline for when you expect to be recovered, and you'll likely have better results. DARE works.
