      I don't know how you came to that conclusion but it's obvious you've never encountered people who fall for this type of scam. Also, you definitely don't have good judgment if you looked at that girl and believe she's 100% in on the scam. Especially when she knows her mother is joint owner of the account being used.
      If you had said she must be romantically interested or involved with one of the scammers, that would have indicated that you at least have better judgment. 🤓

    This is a common thing that goes on in Atlanta. Scammers recruit ppl with active bank accounts, and deposit bad checks withdrawing the money and closing out the persons account. Here what went wrong was the account was also tied to her mother who had other accounts with the bank that they used to draw the money from. She knew what was going on. She got half. She just probably didn’t know it would effect her mother and that’s why she feels guilty.

    The daughter knew. And Judge Judy knew that the daughter knew. She also knew that as much as the mom wanted her money back, she would not hold her daughter accountable unless forced to. I think that's why she held the check until a police report is filed. Daughter will have to face the music if mom wants her money back.

    Actually this scam is quite popular and when I was working in a homeless youth shelter a lot of the kids (16-19) would fall into this scam from their peers and wouldn’t know it was a fake check until the bank notified them. By then it’ll be too late bc they already took the money out and gave some of the money to the scammer. I’ve witnessed about 3 stories like this

    I really liked this episode. Mother and JJ were on the same page with everything, and you could tell her mom just wanted the truth and to hold her (or whomever) accountable. Her daughter was definitely in on the scam and mother was smart to watch her bank account to keep tabs on her daughter. I hope her daughter truly learned from this experience.

    You'll notice JJ asked the mother early on why no police report was filed, and at the end, said no money would be paid on the judgement until a police report was filed. I looked closely at the mothers' face when JJ said that because JJ was calling the mother's bluff just in case it was a scam to get money from the TV show. (The TV show pays the winner of the case).

    • @Mybpeterson
      @Mybpeterson 2 года назад +9

      I suspect she won't get off if Mom reports it. Those two guys are going to tell the police how the daughter was in on it. Because she was. JJ figured that out without saying it, that's why JJ won't release the money to Mom until she files a police report. I'd love to know if the daughter confessed to keep her from pressing charges. Mom already said she didn't report it right away because she didn't want her daughter to get into trouble. IF the daughter admitted what she did, Mom would have to choose, either give up on the money, or file the report and make her kid face the consequences.

    Banks has a 15 to 20 day waiting period for checks to clear....so, how can this happen when these fake checks did not clear..

    • @Lilith_sRevenge
      @Lilith_sRevenge 2 года назад +1

      That depends on the amount of the check and your standing with the bank. Most checks take about 2-3 days to clear. If it's a large check it may take longer to clear, but they usually let you take a portion of the amount right away (again that depends on your standing with the bank and the bank's policy). Hope that helped. 😊
