I have a Jackson big tuna kayak. I use it a lot to get into spots so I can sneak it easier. It’s big enough for me, my gear and my buck I kill.

i like using a sit on top double hull style kayak so i dont dump it in freezing water its stable enough i can stand in it and pack in or out more gear but it weighs more than a traditional style kayak and its longer with a flat deck. unless the water is super shallow theres enough room and stability to safely paddle out myself and the deer without a tube or bottoming out. its an american made bonefide rs 117. i initially though 1000$ was steep but i believe it was worth it

I'm still learning the bigwoods hillcountry of Central Ontario. One thing I've noticed is that the bucks like to bed at the highest elevations, under big white pines or mature hemlocks. This year I've found a few seeps and springs that pools water in the rock, up high near the beds. Definitely going to be focusing on those "waterholes" in the early season if and when it's hot out and the deer are bedded up dry.

Love all the old footage that you mix in with the new videos brotha, keep em coming. I'll be hunting river system this coming fall, and found some good oxbow bedding I'm stoked about

These woods are full of creeks. I've noticed trampled spots in different places on creeks I mistaked as a crossing. Come back the next year, same spot, nothing. Maybe it was where they watered at that particular time. This is what I need to find and hunt. There's so many creeks and they like just a few spots at a given time. Some things are slowly coming together for me. The video titled Waterhole Buck is one of my all time favorites. Thanks bro

I just love watching all of your videos. Question for you that may help some of us on where to look for bedding along rivers.
Lets say that we have a river running north and south that a deer could bound and adequate bedding on both sides. If the wind was coming out of the west in your experiences would you say that the deer would prefer to be on the west side or the east side of the river? Ty

Thats a good question, but unfortunately its a complicated answer... If they are bedding in an oxbow along the river, usually they like the wind blowing in the land bridge so they can smell entry and escape across the water, But I have seen a few occasions where they bed with a vision of the opening wind to back. If they are bedding on the edge of the thick areas around the water they could be bedded on either side of the opening looking either towards the open woods, or towards the opening along the river, but usually with wind to back.

I love the canoe approach here in West Central Mn. It adds an element of adventure but you're right, it can lead to dangerous situations. Always respect the water. Thanks for another great video Dan.

I have safety question for I plan on buying a Intex Explorer K2 Kayak, 2-Person Inflatable Kayak Set with Aluminum Oars and High Output Air Pump. I don't have truck so it's my best option. I have a framed backpack it's a mystery ranch pop up 28. Most of time I will only have paddle 40yrd to cross the river. A couple of spots I might have paddle 150yds to 200yds. At what temperature and conditions do think it's not safe be in the water. FYI its a slow moving river.

I think its funny how some of these guys canoe in like there exploring some vast lands and im in my tree an hour before light and see them canoeing in and I walked over 1.5 miles back and beat them in 😂 Its very common in Michigan for guys to "canoe" in and blow the whole woods out too because there ridiculously loud.... dont be those people lol.
