Dan talking about driving 200 miles only to turn around should really open some eyes about the concentration and discipline it takes to hunt mature bucks.
By the time the puppet commander-in-steal gets threw jacking fuel and everything else, who knows what we'll be dealing with. Sure glad we don't have to haul our cannon every time. But you're right on the discipline and concentration with mature bucks, as far as opening eyes, some never learn.
Been a follower of yours since your Blood Brothers outdoors video about marsh hunting came out. I have learned more about hunting bedding areas, being mobile, and wind and thermals from your videos, forum, and youtube channel than I would have in 3 lifetimes of experience. The hunting beast community is the best group of hunters ever assembled. Thanks for all you do for the hunting community. I hope I run into you one day just to shake your hand and personally thank you.
Dan your a better man then me . I understand minding your own business but their is a point that you should do something . He crossed the line and I would have hunted him . I would have put cameras along his trail , his tree stand and where you have to park . And when I got enough proof , I would have turned him in . Its people like him that ruin hunting . And I would have really enjoyed hunting him . Not to harm him but to complete the plan . It would have been great to get him and the big buck . Great tee shirt . Thanks for sharing . I can't wait until deer season opens , looking forward for your videos .
I was thinking you would need to take someone in to bait with you and have them walk out. Might have worked. Might not have. But I figured the way you were describing how he came in right after you baited, he was watching nearby. Wish you could have gotten him. Thanks for sharing.
Great idea. He could’ve had someone walk in to his bait using the normal travel route while Dan took the alternate travel route and setup while his buddy was setting the bait. Great idea man.
I wouldn’t doubt if that guy killed him either illegally or legal. Sounds like the type of guy that was going to do whatever he had to do, unfortunate. Awesome video though Dan! 👍🏻
YOUR T SHIRT! LMAO!!! YA HAD ONE OF THOSE DAYS AND THOUGHT,,,CAN'T GET ANY WORSE, SO I TRIED IT! OMG!!!!! IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!! I HAPPILY WENT ON WITH MY DAY!!!
I feel like an extreme genius after reading your shirt. 2019 buck was my lifetime buck don't know what he would've scored don't care but yes the 200 is what serious whitetail hunters dream about lucky to see one on public or private let alone several, awesome episode Dan!
I would like to see more videos analyzing your mistakes and what you learned from them. Your combination of confidence and humility is refreshing. Good luck this next season!
I had one like that. As soon as someone else gets a pic then it's over. They have to disappear and die of old age you would hear about someone getting one like that.
Dan you get extra props and shares for the t-shirt!!!!! I have hunted on our hunt property in the UP of Michigan since 1986. We sold our property this year so I am now part of the Hunting Public. I will be changing to bow hunting from rifle hunting. I am really excited to get out there and use my hunting knowledge to see if I can score. I love your videos just like this one. Keep it up!
That buck reminds me of my friend in Namibia. He said Baboons can only count to two. If one man goes into the blind they won't show up. If two men go into the blind & one walks out they won't show. If three men go into the blind & two come out blam ☠️ they come in. They can only count to two! 😂🙊👍🏻
I commend you on leaving the other guy be even when he didn't follow your example. It really changes an area when one hunter doesn't play by the rules. He was never gonna kill that buck with that set up anyhow. And what a buck he is!!
I saw a film once where these researcher were studding a wild bird sanctuary. They had a problem that when the birds watched someone enter the study blind they would not come back come back out into the field. So that they did was to have two people enter the blind, wait a few seconds, then one guy would leave and the other would stay, and conduct the research. So when the birds saw someone leave the blind they felt safe again and would come back to the fields. Maybe you need to take a buddy with you then have him walk out alone after you get set up in your stand?
When I used to bait I would have someone walk with me to my stand and then walk back out after putting out the bait when I got up in the stand. Worked out surprisingly well because the deer would think whoever was there had left. Got several bucks including my biggest 8 point using that tactic.
Good show Dan. If possible show some more hill country hunts. I got some dynamite Wisconsin public hill country to hunt if ya ever wana tag along with me and my ol man. Good luck this next season!
This video is awesome! I love your videos! I would like to see a video on how a mobile hunter goes in blind in the morning based on technology apps. I miss using reflector tacks and having a quite entry. Mornings are my best hunts in the past. Going in mobile in the morning is crazy! Make so much noise and when u finally get set up as the sun comes up u realize there’s a dead limb swaying in the wind that will take u out if it brakes. Then u go way off corse when u leave. Mobile hunting is hard as hell
We would like to see more videos like this. Videos on how you found certain bucks you killed or didn't kill. What your game plan was to kill them and the mistakes you made, etc. And like others have said. You should've turned in that idiot baiting that same buck. It is OUR responsibility as hunters to help catch these idiots and turn them in. If we continue to let them break the law, they will continue to ruin your hunts. It was obvious he ruined that spot by overhunting it and probably could've shot that buck illegally. That could explain why you never saw the buck again.
If you guys want to hunt indiana again, I'd like to have y'all in southern Indiana. Clark county forestry. In Henryville. Also have access to some private property also. Love the videos and your knowledge sir!
same thing happened to me dan watched a buck grow to 4 yrs old over 200” had a poacher that lived less than a mile away from where i hunted and he shot the buck what a shame and hunters shouldnt treat each other negatively it should be all positive vibes with fellow hunters but it cant be that way everyone wants the buck so they resort to only thinking about self dont get me wrong there are still people with the old hunting spirit it’s starting to take all of the fun out of hunting for me really i cant share memories with people anylonger from all of the negativity that they bring now adays ive been hunting for a long time im 45 and now hunt alone and dont share anything hunting related with anyone i know i get my hunting comeradery and deer camp experience and making memories with the beast family by watching your videos every time you go hunting dan as long as your filming bro im there with you making memories you guys are awsome thanks for all of the knowledge 🤟
Hey Dan, this is what i want a video of: say i pick a good spot on a map and maybe check it out once during a midday, and wanna go in for an all day hunt in that spot like mid October timeframe. Would you put up sticks and stand early before daylight, or would you sit against a tree until daylight and then pick a tree and climb at that time ??? So a video on best options for setting up for a morning or all day hunt during a time when bucks might come thru any time of day. thanks.
Hind sight being what it is should of had Mario stick tight to you walking in bait it you slip up tree and Mario walk out, again should of would of, food for thought. Love the channel Dan always great stuff!!
Pattern behavior. Two people walk in, one hops in the stand the other walks back out. To that buck, the threat is gone, maybe down him first sit. What do I know though I’m no pro but I’ve used it to my advantage and can confirm it works. Never on anything that nice though. Works well for roadside hunting too. 2cents
I really like and enjoy the videos where you breakdown your hunts. I'd like to see another video of you picking a piece of public and showing how you scout it 1st with Aerial/Topo, then how you scout it to setup when you get there
Michigan public land hunter. Hardest state in the country with the highest number of bow hunters. If I harvest a deer every year I’m happy. I love venison. It’s getting harder every year because of technology and hard core young hunters that are fearless and in shape to follow all the rules of no quads, electric bikes, and so on. I’m still out there trying
I'm up in the air about ratting out illegal hunters but if you mind your own and he blows up.your spot, oh hell ya I'ld be calling the warden. That deer disappeared that ass hat poached him one night I wouldn't be surprised.
If you have this happen again. Have someone go with you to keep the bucks attention. After you are set up have them walk off talking. Done it several times. We call it tricking them.
Hi Dan I've gotten 3 deer in a simular situation you encountered. So I went in with a friend got set up knowing the deer were watching and my friend would exit the piece of woods while i stayed.
BuckConSin is killing the Monster this year!! Dan I appreciate every bit of knowledge you share with us. Hopefully I can put down a Michigan Big Woods 200+ this year!
hey dan little late lol but in states that allow bating, ive used this tactic before of going in to do the bait with 2 people, while one does the bait the one slips in the tree and only one guy leaves. works like a charm, seen it successful 3 times !!
I'd like to see a video on hunting big river bottoms, like rivers too big for deer to cross. There are lots of white oaks there but some years they are flooded.
I was just wondering why you didn’t try the two person approach, we’re two of you walk out to your area but only one leaves, leaving you the chance to climb into your blind - the other person walks around & then leaves. We’ve had success with this approach, realizing deer are not good at math.!!!
I thought the story was going to go like you took your buddy in with you to bait and sent him back out while you climb the tree so the buck would think you left after baiting
You had the ethical and responsible chance to contact your local game warden and anonymously direct him precisely to the illegal bait and tree stand. That is what you should have done.
Come on down to Virginia Dan! I'd like to see how you hang sticks and stand from start to finish. In a hunting situation. I always try to do the exact steps every time. I guess its like muscle memory for me. Watched all your stuff in the past. Just curious if you use ropeman with lineman belt? Hope your well God Bless.
Hey Dan! Like you and The Hunting Public come to an Alabama public land... like in north Alabama, the Blackwarrior wma inside The Bankhead National Forest. It has been stocked in the 1920's with Michigan deer. And has several record book bucks taken on it, and it's about 92,000 acres. Enjoyed the bear buck video! John 14:6. God bless
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Dan, Over the years hunting and learning from so call experts I did not learn much. I learn my hunting the most from you, Todd Pringnitz and the hunting public boys. Thank you.
Thanks Dan- Curious to know if he remained consistent to that bedding area throughout the rut and what the doe population was around his area? One thing I hear often is those giants are remote isolated from other deer but often when I see them it’s mid to late rut and they are tending does in really accessible places. Would like to understand if they are using satellite beds at that time and chase the same doe groups each year at the same time of year.
You guys have a fantastic show, love the stories. I think you're crazy saying that was a 3 year old, but I love your content. Keep it up, you'll be rewarded, and I can't wait to watch the video when it happens.
I wonder if bringing a parter to walk in with you for ur first hunt. And the two of u don’t talk but walked in together very closely Kinda mocking each other’s footsteps. And U have set up ur stand and partner put the bear bait out and just stall till u were ready. Then the partner leave. Leaving u in ur tree ready. May have worked. Enjoyed the video and channel.
Always has to be "that guy" that messes it up for everyone else. Good to see you are still after it and putting out good content. Good luck this season 2022-2023!
I’d like to see a full break down of how to read maps with explanations of what land features are called, how to identify said land features on topographical maps/how to read topos, and how wind is affected by certain land features. I watch all kinds of videos of people talking about wind and in them they will talk about land features, but I’m hard pressed to find any info on actually explaining what land features are called and what they look like on a topo. I’m a self taught newer hunter and can identify some things, but I still don’t know what certain land features are called and how to identify them on a topo or while I’m in the woods. Also, do you happen to sell any digital copies of your DVDs?
Had a giant showing up at my house for 3 straight years. He disappeared the following year and I never saw him again. I never heard about anyone shooting him, so I’m not sure what happened?
Thanks for sharing such a story Dan, even though you never saw him during daylight in season it was a great lessons learned. You only have a couple opportunities if any to make it happen on a mature deer 🦌 like that before they wise up.
its crazy the things we learn from these amazing animals...over the years ive noticed patterns and behaviors that one would never expect...thats why we continue every season!
The deer hunts and tactics are always my favorite videos. Very entertaining and educational. Hope to see you with an even bigger buck than this one in the video on the ground this season. You deserve it.
Why no footage of the buck? Just curious. Love the videos Dan they are all good. My request would be now that beast gear is selling like hotcakes and you have a sponsor or two invest in some better camera equipment. I have a feeling the 200 inch buck is coming eventually and it would be a shame not to capture high quality footage of the event.
I would’ve taken a buddy with me on opening day. Have him bait while I climb the tree and have my buddy leave the area. The buck would assume i left and should come in to the bait pile. 🤷♂️
I hit the thumbs up button the moment I read your shirt!! Man what an absolute giant! Kind of makes me sick to my stomach watching it honestly. For you to have been so close!! Your heart must have been pounding out of your chest the one time you saw him while hunting. I hope you get your 200", you've earned it!!
Hey Dan, in hindsight, what if Mario or someone walked the normal access trail and baited (then left the way he came), while you took the alternate access and hung a set. You think that would've worked?
I was thinking the same thing. I believe animals can’t count. We used to do a similar thing. When I was young, we would hunt pigeons in abandoned farmyard barns. 2 guys in a car. Drive to the barn. Pigeons fly away. 1 guy get out, hide in the barn. Other guy drive away. The pigeons would fly right back. You could do the same. 2 guys go in after the buck, 1 leave, 1 stay and hunt.
Loves these buck stories. Keep it up. Even better if there’s a kill. And waiting for a few more deer drive videos. That’s our bread and butter over here in Minnesota
Deer have that sixth sense, but those big ones have a seventh sense. Even if they don't detect you, they always manage to hang back that yard or two that you can't get a shot. Or they always stop behind a tree. Walk down the trail you expected them too and just turn off the trail casually and walk right out of your life.
Big old bears do the same thing as this buck. They know your pattern and bed within sight and smell. We learned to bait bears with two people they get used to the two smells and while one baits the other climbs the tree. Then leaves and shortly after the bear show up. So this maybe will help you. But I think if you left in a different direction then you came in at it would better your odds. Route out of sight slightly off wind. Good luck on this one. I experienced the same thing on a 13 pointer. Eating popcorn out of our baits.
Dan. I Bear hunted Clark County Wis. last year. Baits were hit sporadically. then 1 day I found out why! Dog hunters are allowed to Practice wherever they want. Baits were hit then the dogs would chase them away!!! Frustrating!!! Too many hunters also. Got an E tag this year. Lots of wolves this year! Good Luck this year!
After this video i hopped right over and ordered the camo TideWe 700Y rangefinder, so i hope they are watching and sponsor you again next season. I didn't wanna order from the liberals at Amazon, but it was only $64.99 with free s/h there so i did anyway......
God I hate cameras. Absolutely no disrespect and full acknowledgement of their legality, but God do I hate cameras. Industry has figured out how to allow the hunter to have eyes on the forest from a thousand miles off or even when they’re fast asleep, cozied up in their beds. The number of videos I’ve watched where all intel gathered to collect a massive buck was all from cameras and not woodsmanship turning the hunt into a hit. It just doesn’t come across as being fair chase when all of the most important details necessary for success can be obtained, even in the hunters absence. Long long gone are the days of “ghost bucks” that leave giant tracks and here are the days of filling in the blanks with technology who’s danger goes completely un noticed by game. I’ll forever be too selfish to share my successes in the woods with a computer. All the best.
Wow what a buck !! On public in the last 35 years I only seen maybe 3 probably 130inch bucks give or take a few inches in my life and that's counting driver around and scouting too, seen a lot more on private , but not much maybe half dozen or so but probably my fault was a traditional Hunter same blind same spot weekend after weekend year after year change spots did the same thing too I took my share of bucks on public but pretty much typical Michigan buck. got lucky and got 118 inch lol.. watching your channel learn a lot being mobile. and i am seeing a lot more bucks i wish what i know now back then I what of had fewer bigger ones for sure thinking back how I screw up on some of them big ones , now I'm teaching my son your techniques so in his years he will be able to score on some of big ones he run across in his time .
Great stuff Dan, it’s a shame you didn’t get that buck. We will have 2-3 guys walk in to bait bear in Arkansas, and they do the same thing. When season opens one guy stays and often tags a bear within an hour. Love the shirt!! Good luck this coming season
Dan's stories are amazing......the guy is a encyclopedia of buck-hunting strategies.

It's became the favorite part of the show seeing what shirt you wear lol arkansas man that hates Joe Biden
It is cool to see what American he hates this time. It’s a real growing industry. Awesome

Spot on
Great idea. He could’ve had someone walk in to his bait using the normal travel route while Dan took the alternate travel route and setup while his buddy was setting the bait. Great idea man.
I was thinking the same thing at the beginning. Buck might have put his guard down if he heard / saw someone leave. Cool video
i'm stick cracking up over the guy locking his summit up over the trail you use to get your bear bait in the woods before the season started 🤣🤣🤣
Dan you are always on point with the shirts. I love it. 👍🇺🇸👍.

I like the diagrams that explain access and bedding paints the picture perfect
I would like to see breaking down small wood lots in farm country with maybe even River bottom and oxbows mixed in! Thanks really enjoyed the video!👍
I agree! This would be very entertaining and educational to watch👍🏻
That’s crazy man. Good stuff. Like hearing the big woods stories..

Awsome Dan! Loved the video

Great buck. Love the t-shirt
LOVE YOUR SHIRT 👕 BROTHER 👍
I just automatically subscribed because I saw your shirt
If you guys want to hunt indiana again, I'd like to have y'all in southern Indiana. Clark county forestry. In Henryville. Also have access to some private property also. Love the videos and your knowledge sir!

love to see more hunts in mountain areas, love the show!
Freaking awesome.
Request: video on hunting old mining areas and reclaimed land. Like you see in Ohio a lot.
I really like and enjoy the videos where you breakdown your hunts. I'd like to see another video of you picking a piece of public and showing how you scout it 1st with Aerial/Topo, then how you scout it to setup when you get there

I thik i would have MADE it my business....or CALLED it minding my business.
The 2 in 1 out might do the trick. We've used it in bear hunting out here in Idaho. Hopefully he comes back.
Love the shirt!
Hi Dan I've gotten 3 deer in a simular situation you encountered. So I went in with a friend got set up knowing the deer were watching and my friend would exit the piece of woods while i stayed.

That crap broke my heart and i live in GA!
Last season the wind rarely blew in the direction that it was forecasted. So frustrating. You should do a video on shifting wind tactics
You had the ethical and responsible chance to contact your local game warden and anonymously direct him precisely to the illegal bait and tree stand. That is what you should have done.
You probably could have gotten him with hunter harassment too if he was sabotaging your legal bait.
I agree with you!! My guess is Dan doesn't have the Whistleblower mentality in his genes! Would like to hear Dans reply on the matter!
This season didn't go well next season dan shoots 200 inch buck frist day
Come on down to Virginia Dan!
I'd like to see how you hang sticks and stand from start to finish. In a hunting situation. I always try to do the exact steps every time. I guess its like muscle memory for me.

Also I like shows about finding deer in high pressure public.

You should do a video on Broadhead Dan and arrows, or even bows I guess lol but one on broadheads would be cool
Deer are a lot smarter than people give them credit for. I hope you bust a good buck this season.
Great story and what a beautiful buck !!!
Maybe donuts are the key to growing big antlers
I’d like to see a full break down of how to read maps with explanations of what land features are called, how to identify said land features on topographical maps/how to read topos, and how wind is affected by certain land features. I watch all kinds of videos of people talking about wind and in them they will talk about land features, but I’m hard pressed to find any info on actually explaining what land features are called and what they look like on a topo. I’m a self taught newer hunter and can identify some things, but I still don’t know what certain land features are called and how to identify them on a topo or while I’m in the woods.
Also, do you happen to sell any digital copies of your DVDs?
As of right bow we only have DVDs available
@@thehuntingbeast thank you
You need to post a separate page so we can watch all your vintage hunting videos!!!
Had a giant showing up at my house for 3 straight years. He disappeared the following year and I never saw him again. I never heard about anyone shooting him, so I’m not sure what happened?
Thats pretty much what happens with most the giants I chase... One day they just dissapear
In Arizona they banned trail cameras... you wouldn’t have even known this buck existed... hope this doesn’t make it to Wisconsin.
Good, if you need a camera to kill a buck you suck
@@_1COR15.1-4 Go change your tampon Bradley
@@_1COR15.1-4 wow!! That’s an angry comment! Hope your life gets better man. Take care!
Idk maybe if it wasn't for the trail cams the buck doesn't get pressured so hard.
@@michaelderks994 that’s a great point! Getting that intel does come at a cost as you mentioned!
Love the shirt Dan! MAGA
All the crap we put out for deer and turns out he likes donuts and rice freaking crispies 💀🤪
Should of had 2 guys 1 walk in an 1 guy climb up the tree
I hit the thumbs up button the moment I read your shirt!! Man what an absolute giant! Kind of makes me sick to my stomach watching it honestly. For you to have been so close!! Your heart must have been pounding out of your chest the one time you saw him while hunting. I hope you get your 200", you've earned it!!
Hey Dan, in hindsight, what if Mario or someone walked the normal access trail and baited (then left the way he came), while you took the alternate access and hung a set. You think that would've worked?
good idea IMO
Dr. Ken Nordberg talks about doing this exact thing with his sons. Worked for them. Hindsight is always 20/20. You never know.
@@stevevistad4612 Ravens can count.
The classic "Leave Behind" two people in one person out have used it and it works.
Can't stand a poacher. Illegal stand over bait is poaching
I want to see a " Caught me a Critter !! " compilation video !!
Loves these buck stories. Keep it up. Even better if there’s a kill. And waiting for a few more deer drive videos. That’s our bread and butter over here in Minnesota
Great video, even better shirt.
Deer have that sixth sense, but those big ones have a seventh sense. Even if they don't detect you, they always manage to hang back that yard or two that you can't get a shot. Or they always stop behind a tree. Walk down the trail you expected them too and just turn off the trail casually and walk right out of your life.
I say get rid of the poacher
Great video Dan. Also, that area is popular with LARGE group drives during rifle season. That big buck somehow got around them too.
