And solar panels, too!? The bright, pearly white restored eyebrow arches are glowing as brightly as the Christmas spirit and Janie’s good cheer. So satisfying to see them being put back up and BEFORE the new year. But more than the eyebrow arches, the entire roof is being refined? And it is so beautiful. Like a thoughtfully wrapped present. Glad you guys are taking a break. Knowing the roof is secure will probably make the end-of-year rest that much easier to enjoy. Also. You can tell what a cruise ship nerd I am. I love that I spotted almost immediately a Royal Caribbean ship far off in the distance at 12:14. Man. Really goes to show how close the house is to the Gulf, but also to the port! I know Galveston is essentially a really long peninsula strip. But to see it like this gives better perspective for me. Also shows further just how high up that roof is.
Oh my God bless you and these workers because I had such fear from just watching them do this job. 😅. Merry Christmas to all of you who love this house and are trying your best to restore it. Thank you Janie for everything that you do, it is much appreciated. 🎄🎄
The house looks stunning!! It was soooo lucky to have waved its window curtain to you 3/4 years ago. No one else could have combined your dedication, knowledge, creativity, bravery and stamina to its restoration. Hope you get a few days off for the holiday. Merry Christmas👍 🤩
Janie…. Merry Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family….♥️ Everything’s coming along really nicely.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The roof vents back up really look great! 👍🏻 😘
Wish I could have been there!! Becoming bilingual is in my top 10 things I'm thankful I did in my life. Awesome to be able to see things getting fixed correctly! Must feel great to have another part of the house fixed and checked off the list!! ❤
You would think I would know more Spanish having lived in Houston all my life. Two of our girls are fluent but of course neither is around when I need them. I know just enough to miscommunicate and get in trouble. Having these back on the house is a big weight lifted off my shoulders. No one's going to steal them up here!
Once we're caught up the pressure will be on to do more work! Hopefully it's going to be a very busy 2025 so we should have lots of things to film. 2024 was so full of big projects.
It was so much work but now that they are back the house looks complete. It seems like everything with this house is a challenge and harder than it looks initially.
So, that's very interesting. I love learning new things. I've never seen it used before. I wonder if it is uncommon for roofers to use or if I've just missed it.
Eeek! One of those bucket trucks crushed my driveway after Beryl in order to trim a leaning tree! Speaking of the roof wooden t&g decking, are there any tell-tale signs of replacement decking at the chimney stacks ? Im thinking if any original chimney stack was blown down or damaged during the 1900 hurricane then the collapse would have yoinked out or crushed some of the decking and then replaced. An obvious place to look would be the library/bedroom chimney up through the roof/attic of the southeast porch. The only original stack is the one from the west parlor and 1920s extension area you had in this video.
I'm so sorry about your driveway. Our sidewalk suffered the same fate. Great idea to do some sleuthing in the attic around the chimneys. I'll let you know what we find.
It’s coming right along! My question, were there originally holes in the roof that the eyebrow windows were placed over to allow hot air to escape? Am I correct that they are only decorative now? Merry Christmas, enjoy your break! 🎄
They used to be functioning vents but not now. They caused too many leaks. They really do add to the character of the house so it's nice to have them back up.
I love working on the house, but everyone needs a break once in a while. I am going to enjoy the two weeks off and be ready to start the new year! You have a very merry Christmas, too.❤❤

Miraculous venting. It's a miracle, letting hot air escape..
Janie…. Merry Merry Christmas 🎄 to you and your family….♥️

😘
Love the ending 😅.
Merry Christmas
It's a little private joke but we love this particular fan and wanted to give him a chuckle. Neither Jo nor I have any pride apparently.
My goodness!!! So much accomplished this year! It won't be long before more inside work is being done! Everything is coming along beautifully.
We are starting a couple of inside projects in the new year. We have big plans for 2025.
Wish I could have been there!! Becoming bilingual is in my top 10 things I'm thankful I did in my life.

Looking fantastic, it looked like a hard job to sort the eyebrows out, but look at them.👍
Have a great Christmas and a Happy Ney Year.

Me on the roof. 🙈
Merry Christmas & enjoy your break! 😊
Merry Christmas!
I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 🎉😊! Please get plenty of rest, eat good food, enjoy family and friends! 😊🎉
I promise to do all those things! Same to you. We are looking forward to good things in 2025.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Enjoy your time off!
We will. Time to recharge and get ready for a very busy 2025.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
You have a wonderful Christmas, too! It's been quite the year for us.
This style of putty on the cap flashing is used to seal cockpit canopy glass on aircraft like the F-16. Pretty cool stuff

Nice!
It is a very exciting step. Now back to the water issues.

It's almost as nerve wracking to watch as the stained glass window removal.
Nothing will ever be that stressful. This was a little scary though.
Are the eyebrow arches purely ornamental?
They used to be functioning vents but not now. They caused too many leaks. They really do add to the character of the house so it's nice to have them back up.
I think you should organize a chili with beans supper and cook out in the yard, then end of year video all the farting.
Merry Christmas! Enjoy your time off! So excited for the new year.🌲🌲❤️🤍💙
