Hi Aaron, What a thoroughly fantastic project! Engrossing from start to finish. Every aspect of the presentation of this campaign, from using actual period maps, the figures and terrain, and your narration, have certainly brought this whole concept to life. Many thanks and congratulations to everyone involved! Looking forward to the second run, Cheers from a Brit in Sydney👍🥃
Have just finished marathon-watching this magnificent campaign - I'm sorry I missed it while it was going on. An inspiring wargame campaign and series of reports which makes me want to play - those are the best! I look forward to seeing your campaign rules - I used the Black Powder ones in The Last Argument of Kings for my own solo try a couple years ago. You should be proud of all the work you and your team obviously put into this. You're very lucky to be able to do this as part of your job and it's a very creative and successful way of engaging people. I do a little of this but as a children's librarian my attempts are obviously limited... but I am having many ideas for my home table and local gaming group. Thank you for this very enjoyable series, and I await whatever you do next with anticipation.
I was really looking forward to this wrap-up video and it did not disappoint! Very well done and a fantastic recap of the entire campaign. This whole series was a real pleasure to watch. I look forward to the "what if" version 2!
I concur with Paulbenson's comments/ I enjoyed this project immensely. Although not my preferred period of history, I followed it throughout and was engrossed by your detail and table step-up, and presented project. It is really well done. Fab and congrats one and all.
Huzzah! I'm looking forward to revisiting this superlative campaign. Thank you for your summary Aaron. Will you be publishing a wargamers guide to the '45 with Helion, to go with your book on Prestonpans? 🙂
Really looking forward to it all again, and who knows what the outcome one might be this time. Would it indeed send shockwaves out to other later theatres of war for the British. Love it.
I have REALLY been looking forward to this, and you didn't let me down! I'm looking forward to the next WHAT IF, and will be letting people know about it! I'm still dying to see the campaign rules you ended up using... the whole WHAT IF concept really inspired me!
This campaign was thrilling to follow from start to finish. I was enthralled by the stakes and turns of fortune. I wonder what a battle may have looked like with French and Jacobite forces united under fewer hard losses against a large mass of Government-Hessian forces. I'd like to game that fight! Maybe there's no better a chance of victory than in the course of the museum's campaign, but I can't help but feel Saundridge, and especially Tonbridge were... somewhat indjudicious expenditures of valuable units.
Yes that was a rough 48hrs! But had it gone the other way, the road to victory would have been clear... Let's see what happens with different hands at the helm!
That was a great summary, thanks! I am especially delighted (pardon my childish squeal of delight) to hear that you'll be doing a whole new version. As I am inveterate follower, I am doing my own 3mm armies, which model the 1745 on almost a 1:1 scale, to refight the campaign here in sun-baked Cincinnati. If you ever feel the whim to share your Campaign Rules, I would be especially eager to see them. As I do not love Blackpowder rules (for a start, I find the musketry ranges to be beyond ridiculous) I am thinking of using the LWTV rules called 'Live Free or Die' to model the table-top battles. If nothing else, I am reliving your friends' mania in painting unit after unit, if writ small ... such fun. Eagerly awaiting the Raising of the Clans, I remain, etc ... Mark Bois PS Please thank the Board of the Museum for allowing you to work on this. A visit to Prestonpans, and your delightful museum, are now at the top of my Bucket List.
@markbois1990 my goodness - good luck with your project! I once made a 1:1 ratio Prestonpans order of battle using Paperboys paper figures, and cutting and snipping the 5000 men nearly drove me mad - but the perspective it gives you on scale is worthwhile!
I cant wait to see the next campaign! I loved the campaign and the narrative you guys made. Will you be posting the rules after this first campaign or do you plan to post them after this upcoming one? I would love to run my own scenario with some friends of mine. Great job!
@chrisnola5598 I know we keep putting this off, as we don't want to spoil the campaign by revealing too many of the trigger goals. But we are going to start putting more detail about the mechanics into the Facebook group, and I've started writing them up into a more user friendly format than my working copy!
I’ve read a bit about the period but it wasn’t particularly one of my main historical interest periods. Your campaign prompted me to read more about it and I became pretty invested in your game. I’ll be curious to see how things pan out in game 2. Swapping sides is a good idea as I guess you will have the problem of the decisions being influenced now not only by reality but also by game 1. I’ll stay tuned in to see.
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the heather..... Unexpected surprise! Thank you! The overarching question I had at the end of the campaign was would the gains of the Jacobites weakened N American, the Carribean, India etc? Or did the Crown have enough time to recover?
@oblomovbruce9979 good question! No forces were withdrawn from the Colonies during the campaign, just from the European front, but historically a huge amount of forces were tied up for years after the rising to prevent any resurgence - so those troops were jot available for deployment elsewhere. Same would have to be assumed for this campaign too, with even greater internal disruption from a loger war

I really do miss your posts on the campaign, RUclips is not what it was without you, brilliantly enjoyable.
@@smakybumm1914 new video coming on Monday... :-)

Bravo! Enjoyed it all. Thank you. Hope maybe you will do another project like this sometime
I better get some more painting done then. More games a foot!

Thanks for the awesome campaign.
This is without a doubt the best war games campaign series on RUclips.
@@Drucnai thanks so much. Hope we can keep that up!
Oh brilliant we get to do it all again! Can't wait. Absolutely loved the last campaign 👍
I was really missing my fix of 1745 and now we get to do it again, that's fantastic, thank you.
Nice one team. It was good to follow it through to the end, well done.

I just went through the entire series and thoroughly enjoyed it!! Very well done.

Great round up and great news. Roll on the 19th...😊
Just watched the entire campaign, which was very enjoyable.
Where can I get the rules for the campaign?
Really sad its done.
