  • Today I had the pleasure of reviewing a 2018 BMW M240i. This car has a few upgrades with the addition of a set of 245 Squared Bridgestone RE71R's, a CTS Turbo Catless Downpipe, a Dorch Engineering Stage 2 High Pressure Fuel Pump, BMC Drop In Filters, an MHD Stage 2 E40 Flash, and an xHP Stage 3 ZF8 Flash. Power is estimated around 460-490whp and the rest of the car including its suspension and brakes are stock. I hope you all enjoyed the review, and please support the channel by subscribing if you are new here and leaving a thumbs up!

the fact that you were so distracted by the car you couldn’t even finish sentences, and the fact that you own an m4, speaks volumes to how strong these b58s are… just picked up a 340i myself not too long ago, and has definitely been a step up compared to my BRZ….. anyways big fan and also an SD local!!

I bought my m240 over a year ago when the b58 was barely beginning to Appeal to the general public. I was actually watching your m235i videos and that was one of the things that led me to get it. I totally agree with you, it is a beast. I remember the first time I test drove one and was met with that immense torque, I knew I had to purchase that b58. Little did I know that it was going to turn out to be one of the greatest platforms atm. I am so happy with the car overall. I also got a great deal during COVID and got an incredible spec as well. The BMW M240 is perfect for hot-rodding. It's not a special model so you don't have to worry about hurting it's future value. Obviously the motor is the crown jewel. The path to stage 2 is relatively straightforward and not too expensive. At that point, you have enough power for stop-light glory and pulls on the highway. Fuel economy and emissions...not so much...LOL.

So to add to this video disscussion im an owner of bmw m240 and i would like to give my review about the car.
As stock the car was fast enough for me in the beginning of the first year, you dont feel the turbo lag and just it puts a smile in your face, overall very happy with it.
Downside the car feels a little bit unplanted as stated in the video i have the edc version when you press the sport button it tighten things up but still you feel it floating while driving, steering feel is good but could be better, brakes i have the M performance brake not same as the m2 but bigger than stock brakes so the brakes ar okkkeee but could be better,if you went with stock brakes i eould say the breaks would be weak.
pros strong engine, back seats are large enough to accommodate short person with ease, size of the car is great, big boot, nice looking.
After 1 year i tuned the car to stage 2 downpipe tune and drop in filter, the car went from 340 hp to 440 hp.
The review for stage 2 the car has truned to a monster v fast you can break the tires easily from 30 Km if you pressed the gas pedal and i liked the power and it was enough fro me at that time, the stage 2 or 2* would be best bang for your buck and for street spiritual driving and rare track use it would be enough.
    Pros outstanding performance recoomended .
Cons felt the weakness of the brakes as the car was tuned.
Thougt the power was enough but nope went stage 3 so i added vargas gc* turbo with dorsch stage 2 fuel pump transmission cooler and methanol kit .
Car went from 440 hp to 700 hp on low boost.
Pros too much power can break tires from 30km to 100km my car is RWD with open diff and Michelin pilot sport 5 tires.
Car went to super car fast territory.
Cons boost comes little bit late around 400 rpm and my dorche fuel pump is noisy.
So next i will upgrade my tires to semi slicks, upgrade suspension and will come back with the results.
Hope this write up help bmw m240 owners.

Just recently picked a manual M240i up. Loving it so far. It came with a 12 month BMW warranty so I am planning on just enjoying the car for what it is but after the warranty is up I'll start doing bits to it. As you mentioned in the vid, the main mods for power on the B58 are an uprated HPFP, sports cat/catless DP, and a remap - that should take the B58 from 340ish to 410-420ish quite comfortably. Obviously if you are running an ethanol blend then you'll get more but here in the UK Shell V-Power is all we've got, unless you're running a meth kit.

Weekend car? Definitely get the M3 my guy. I have a 240 and I love it, buts it’s more of an ultimate daily vs true weekend car. The engine in the M3 is far more special and more of an occasion. It’ll cost to run but values are starting to rise so there is that. If I didn’t do so many miles and had a little more disposable for repairs and fuel I would have got the M3. I had an M240i for just over 3 years and loved it. Great all-rounder. It ended up with a stage 1 tune and Bilstein B14 coilovers (more power on stock suspension would certainly be a handful!!)
Having moved on to an M2C which I've had for a year, the 240 is a better all-rounder and daily but I think if you plan on modding, the Comp is the way to go, even if leaving it stock, the chassis is that much better.
The best way I could describe the M240i versus M2 is the M240 is a 2 series with a big engine whereas the M2 is a complete all-round performance-focussed car. That is in no way a criticism and both do different things well.

I was undecided between the M235i and the M240i and your videos talked me into the M235i. This video shows me I saved money not buying the m240i since it’s engine would need similar fueling upgrades to get more power anyway. Plus I was actually able to find a low mile manual M235i. Coming from only stick shift cars I can’t tolerate the auto (unless it’s a dct) so an auto M240i wouldn’t do. Besides the American cars are doing just fine with over 600hp stock and stick shift; pretty sure my 400ish whp (after bolt ons) should still be enjoyable with a stick

The difference between a tuned B58 and a tuned N55 is night and day. A N55 would need a larger turbo to keep up with a tuned B58. Also, the B58 has stronger internals.

Dude seriously? You’re looking like a fool. M235i would need a bunch of supporting mods and a bigger turbo to keep up to a m240i with just a downpipe. You most certainly should of got the b58. Way better internals and updated tech!

    • @chuco425

But it still needs a $1500+ hpfp upgrade regardless. My thing was the chasis is the same and if I have to do supporting mods to either well it’s going to be the same thing. I understand one makes more power stock, so what? The money I save by the M235i went straight to bolt ons. So in my comparison it was full bolts m235i vs m240i. Besides if I only cared about going fast I would’ve just bought a Kawasaki H2 motorcycle to hit 200+ mph and would gap pretty much any stock car under $500k

@@DD-hj3sj I’m enjoying my car regardless. I could tell you have fun getting gapped by the s55 guys. I bought the fastest car for the money I had. If I saved up a little more to afford the m240 I wouldn’t have bought a bmw. I’d have bought another Camaro ss 1LE (regretted selling mine a year ago and now they cost way more to buy) and turn faster lap times than M3 or M4 and all while having a longer warranty that covers track use; that means if I blow up my engine on the race track, and I haven’t voided my warranty, Chevy is replacing my engine for free

The only drawback to any of the f22's is the brake system is awful, especially above 130. The rest of the car is golden.

I have a 2017 m240 and I really find it funny how they call them non M but they have an M badge on them. Kinda annoyin to hear as a person who owns one from rando’s. I get 460whp from just jb4 and im running e30 and dont really lose digs and can take most awd on road. Pretty damn good to me

@@TheSpeedAddiction I had an n54 before and made 460whp, even with LSD and Toyo R888R I was struggling with traction most of the times on the road, that is why I am leaning towards xdrive more. Can't always have prepped surface or nice roads

I currently have an M240i xdrive, if you put it in Sport+ or Traction mode (traction control a little more off than in Sport+ but not fully off) you can get it to go plenty sideways. Granted, mine came to me with the crappy 225 all seasons, so it may be a little more tailhappy than the factory staggered summer tire setup. Unless you plan on drifting it, the xdrive will benefit you hugely from a launch and when you’re tuned especially. I was hesitant to get xdrive but I have no regrets.
