Jet Li as a villain was honestly badass
Yea also him in lethal weapon 4 was bad ass
true true, the both of ya
Emperor Dragon too but man, that movie could've been so much better.
He was scary in Fearless
Jet Li plays a renegade, traveling through parallel dimensions, trying to kill his look-alikes. Each time he kills a look-alike he becomes faster, stronger and sharper.
I've seen this movie a lot when I was a kid but never knew that idea wow
It's also got Jason Stathan in trying to do an American accent
@@waterproof4403 you serious?
@bubbinator88 spellcheck, dude. Doppelganger.
not look-alikes, other versions in a parallel universe within the multi-verse. It'd be like if hulk killed hulk in another universe and he gets stronger from it.
Dude, I used to think this was the baddest fucking movie back when I was a kid
And now?
same here. saw this in the cinema. it was great
Because it is 😁
Ameen brother
Justice
This was...a great movie with nothing short of a legendary ending.
He was badass
I've never stopped thinking about the ending 😂
This was seriously one of my favorite movies growing up! A character killing alternate versions of himself because he gets stronger and faster is a cool and cheesy concept, but I totally love it. Jet Li alongside Jackie Chan were my favorite actors growing up and I like seeing movies like this and Twin Dragons where an actor plays two characters and fights themselves.
Twin Dragons was highly underrated. Hilarious movie.
Cheesy? No i think that's totally original and cool dude!
@@drlca6601 You could call the "she is my center" thing cheesy, but it was Jet Li so it was badass lol.
How can something be cool and cheesy
"I am Yulaw! I'm noooooobody's bitch!"
"YOU, are Mine!" I'll never forget that line!
I don't need to know you. You only need to know me. I will be the one!
Damn that ending scene was EPIC AF.
I don't need to know you. YOU only need to know me. I WILL BE THE ONE!
My friends and I still quote this line frequently 20 odd years later
This movie actually have massive potentials of limitless sequels imo. I kinda wish Jason Statham himself revive this movie, instead going around with Fast & Furious.
Yeah like Stargate but interuniversal travel
Huh, cool idea!
Didn't he die in this movie? Or that was his partner
@@TheCoppoy that was his partner
@@michaelharris7820 BL don't M
@@TheCoppoy uhh, what?
This is one of the most badass character intros ever. Fun facts: this movie was originally written with Dwayne Johnson in mind, with the character of Gabe having a wild and violent past, but settled after he met his wife (Carla Gugino). If you listen to the dialogue throughout the film, you'll hear remnants of that notion. Also: this movie was originally intended to be more violent, but they toned it down so it could get a lower age rating. The SWAT officer he picked up, for example, was originally meant to be riddled with bullets.
Tmr que delicaditos son los menores de edad
It was a big flop anyways
Action movies from the late 80's through 90's and early 2000's were visionary tbh
The music for this movie was incredible
Very
At the time most Martial art movies set in modern era times were very rap heavy in their sound tracks. This movie was a nice change of pace and had some good rock to boot.
It really was
@@EvilDeadDave1 its because not much people in the west publicly showed love for martial arts etc. You had rap groups to name one Wu Tang Clan whos whole gimmick surrounded that aspect. But ngl it sucked the ost
@@EvilDeadDave1 agree. too bad the main vocalist of the band died and couldn't measure up since then.
Movie has early 2000s written all over it and I love it
Came out in 2001
@@Oscardagrouch94 I know that's why I said it bro
The nu metal songs
that kick punch down in slow mo was nasty 😂😂 i love that part
Ill always love that eerie sound that plays when he absorbs the energy at 00:26
@Fn Animate wait what?! 😂 youre making no sense! U saying u love me or what??
Back then, movies have awesome soundtracks.
And awesome action scenes.
im reminded of this scene 0:39 when i watched man of steel when the kryptonian lady goes superspeed vs the military. but i liked how we can see what hes doing as they are in slow motion and that ending kick was so badass
Yeah, Faora was incredible!
I saw this at the cinemas 6 times when I was a teen. Thought it was freakin incredible! Got hooked on Jet Li after Lethal Weapon 4. Then this movie introduced me to Drowning Pool, Disturbed & Papa Roach. This scene & the final scene on the top of the pyramid are still some of my favourite ever scenes in any movies. In hindsight, shame they didn't use Statham's martial arts talent & gave him a horrific American Accent.
the effects look so much better than some of these days movies lol
By this scene alone....u can tell this movie was made in the Early 2000's. This movie rocks.
I guess the soundtrack song choices weren't a dead giveaway haha
Yes...2001precisely.
This movie was one i watched multiple times a day. I loved the two used opposite philosophies for fighting. This and Kiss of the Dragon were the best and still my favorite of jet lee's work
Ever see black mask
Check out Unleashed (Danny the Dog). You’re Welcome
The concept of thus movie is a really fun idea. This guy realizes that if he goes to other universes and kills himself in those paralleled universes his strength and power would be increased time the amount of versions of himself he had killed. And he had killed all of himself except for one last version. The last version being just a young man who wanted to live a quiet life with his wife. That's the most o can recall with the story but the fight scenes and ending is really cool
Actually with each version of himself get killed all other version of him got boost. That why the last one as police officer able to go toe to toe with him
@@pakaton1711 That's why it would've been cool to see the amount of power the One would have. To think about it, he would barely gain any strength when he killed initial versions of himself because there were a lot left to redistribute power between. But when he got to the last remaining all the power of hundreds was split between only 2, so killing the last one would have been the ultimate boost.
This impressed me so much back when I was a kid
It still does
Jet Li is a badass
😂😂😂😂
This movie deserved a sequel and a 3rd movie. Missed opportunity.
But the question is, how would you name the sequels? Lol
@@KevinHuangPhasorQuantaG The Two and The Three 🤣
@@KevinHuangPhasorQuantaG The One: Domination? The One who is all? The only One? The True One? The One: Annihilation? The One and Only? The One: Time Wars? The One: Infinity? The One: Exodus?
Hahaha.
A prequel would be better showing how he was a good guy, to then him failing to save his alternate version of himself. After that he starts to become rogue, and his desire to become the one starts to go in motion once he feels the power of him getting stronger, faster, and sharper.
@@slatehood4840 Good idea.
Who can we fight against Jet Li?
The director himself.
His Wife
This was in 2001 and the CGi was descent for it's time.
One of the coolest opening action scenes to a movie!
1:07 I liked how indestructible those police siren lights are
But they used the glass breaking sound effect like they broke
Jet li running around with X-men cloths on
Yulaw here look like he's dressed up to be part of FOX X-Men
I loved the "slow-motion" of this movie where you're supposed to believe that Jet Li is moving really fast because the person he's beating on freezes in time but then everyone else also moves normally during slow-mo which makes the concept trip over its face. Still an amazing effect though. As flat as it is, love this movie to death
I think his power can make others slow while at the same time making him move faster. Like he stealing that person speed and putting it in himself. That would explain why everything else is still moving normal while that one guy is slow and he moving fast.
Almost everything about this movie is simply amazing
This movie was Gold . A very good movie needs sequel.
This is the closest we ever got to a Chinese Captain America
He can be a part of the Marvel universe. :D
This was more lika a Matrix clone
Wouldn't that make him Captain China?
And here we see the reason every AMV used this song back in the day.
This movie is sadly so underrated
TOTALLY UNDERRATED MOVIE.
I loved this movie and it’s definitely ranked in my Top 10 Classic Martial Arts Movies. I loved the concept and it’s story how one cop could become corrupt by killing another version of himself from another earth. To become faster, stronger and smarter the more you kill yourself. This I would love to see some as a TV show or something like that.
I still have this movie on VHS.
COLLECTORS ITEM
Bruh... I'm sure I am in a minority considering that the coronagraphy mimics the Matrix, but this scene is easily up there with some of the best matrix scenes. When Yu Law tosses the guy, casually walks towards him and kyokoshin side kicks tf outta him, then the strut afterwards? A fucking mazing
The garage scene is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
あのね馬鹿にするな、妊娠していなかったらできる
No idea how many times I used to rewind this scene in my PS2 DVD days.
Honestly, forgot about this movie but seeing clips just brings me right back, love this film, forgot how much!!!...
Like a lot of ppl back in the day, I was p1ssed off this didn't become a franchise. The character of Yulaw is one of my fav movie-original supervillains not adapted from a comic/TV show etc.
Man oh man, this is one of fave Jet Li movies 🙏🏽☯️🙏🏽
This still looks awesome!
"He's going 50!" ok then then drive at 55.
Jet Li with superpowers is more badass than usual.
“Kiss of the dragon” is another’s movie from Jet li that i really like it
For a guy who makes a living playing the good guy, Jet Li is amazing whenever he takes on a villain role.
That slow motion scene where everyone else is moving in slow motion after he hits them except for himself, is fucking awesome.
This movie’s concept seems perfect for a franchise nowadays tbh
The One, fucking gold man 🔥🔥
this is how Mortal Kombat 2021 should be
Honestly I still love this movie.
Loved this movie growing up. Some really great scenes and a great multiverse film before it because a franchise fad.
This movie is full of action packs I will always love this movie!
Happy 20th anniversary Jet Li’s The One!
I used to watch this movie multiple times a day when I was 8 years old in mid 2000s.
Baddest damned movie at the time
This was the first DVD I ever bought. I loved this movie.
The soundtrack of this movie is AWESOME!
This and the kiss of dragon was m favourite jet li action movie when i was 9 years old!
legends say he's still running.
Jet Li Multiverse of Madness
Need a sequel for this
It’s would be cool to see a remake of this.
I use to love this movie lol im glad youtube randomly recommended it
Classic movie....very underrated
Did he just turn into Road Runner? Wiley E. Coyote might be nearby
ahead of its time
This was during Jet Li's attempt to break into International stardom which supposedly he hated every second of. He had some real bangers for movies though.
I loved this movie as a kid.
Jet Superman Flash Rambo Maxpayne plus 767 other characters in one
Ok, but can he beat Goku tho.
@@lozajose89 Geezus... Enough with the Goku bullshit already... He beats Goku just because he's not an annoying dweeb... 🙄
@@lozajose89 he would beat the dragon ball evolution Goku easy lmao 🤣
He's doing 50! Yet everything around him is blurring like he's approaching the speed of light. This doesn't happen when I'm in my car and the speed it at 49. Things don't suddenly blur as the car hits 50.
Come one dude, we all know.
They're hitting NOS. Dude, everyone knows the world starts to blur once you hit the NOS.
Es un efecto para indicar que el personaje está corriendo a una velocidad brutal que absolutamente nadie puede lograr.
We need a game like this with bullet time where we play as Yulaw and Gabe.
Or as Yulaw as he eliminates his others before Gabe
A Re-make of this movie would be awesome
dood i can't even find this movie in anything above 480p this film needs a UHD remaster
00:26 - is that him feeling the energy of the dead yulaw flowing into him and the remaining One's? or is that just him prepping for his escape, lol
Such a kickass movie for the time
this movie was so badass for kid me
Underrated movie
This Movie introduced me to the concept of a Multiverse
I'm still upset they didn't make a part 2
This scene was too raw😮💨
Imagine this movie as a video game. You get to play as Renagade Yulaw or Paragon Gabe.
back when movies are simple, and there to entertain
0:39 is like Clock Up Power from Kamen Rider Kabuto
This movie is my Childhood, and is also how I found one of my favorite rock band out of the four they used! The four being Linkin Park, Disturbed, Papa Roach and Downing Pool (The band I found from the movie)!
Jet Li hasn’t had enough villain roles in his career that’s for sure
One of Jet Li best movies
I'm glad the sequel is in the making😊
The concept of this movie was amazing considering it was filmed 2 decades ago.
I can still remember everybody in the theater was like 😳😳😳
Hank took those bullets like a champ
This is just the intro & its already badass. Fast forward to the end, he does the same shi on a prison planet🤣
Yulaw vs blackheart ghost rider 2007
This movie should of had a sequel
Consider this; is it murder or "suicide" if you kill your other alternate dimension self? Anyone can handle adversity, if you truly wish to test a man, give him POWER. We all know power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely. This action movie asks some pretty deep philosophical questions.
I grew up in a great era😭🔥🔥🔥
The ending scene was the best
This movie was wayyyy ahead of its time. Same thing now would have had multiple studio deals with prequels and sequels.
Bro Yulaw Reminds Me Of Vegeta He Was So Badass!!
still a bad ass Movie...love Jet Li
There should of been a sequel no way a prison would hold him he was the only one of his kind
Technically...no. There was another.
@@willchurch8376 that's true
The effects don’t really hold up but I remember watching the hell out of this when it came out back during high school.
