What is really happening with seniors who are retired is they get LONELY + BORED and thus they open themselves up to major scams. I know this for a FACT. MY 80yo parents fell into traps, mostly my stepdad who opened the door to a guy who claimed to be selling something and that guy had NOTHING to PROVE WHO HE WAS⁉️ He was standing in the house and my mother went off saying:”””Get out of my house now””” I then came into the living room, so the guy felt surrounded, but seriously DANGEROUS time took place. My stepdad let him in 🤯

Yeah i think the scammers have an easier job with the victims that get contacted by trilogy media. They're all amped up cant concisely explain who they are or what is happening and are less personable than the snake taking grandma for all she's got. In one of their videos they call a woman and she continues to talk to the scammer rather than deal with them. They eventually get their point across and save the day, but they nearly scared off the victim they were trying to save.

I cried too. She reminds me of my grandma who will be 100 in July. Shame on these scammers for using and abusing people, especially our wonderful seniors. It’s heartbreaking. Many worked and saved their whole life and these scammers take it as their own.

I know this is an older video but I am a new subscriber and am enjoying binge watching these videos. I do want to say that the guy that called the cops on you seems like one of those guys who think that they are protecting the building and all of its residents. The other residents probably put up with him and think he is harmless, but make fun of him when he leaves. I am lad that you guys do what you do. I have severe nerve damage in both legs and feet and it is now moving into my groin area. I also have bone spurs and an enlarged disk in my neck (I am getting a nerve block in a few days for the bone spurs) and all of the pain sends me into a deep depression sometimes. When I start to feel down, and that nobody in this world cares about anyone anymore, I watch videos like the one where you got that older lady $32,000.00 of the money she had stolen from her by a scammer, and it literally brings me to tears. Keep up the good work gentlemen.

you dude has no clue what constitutes a federal charge and doesn't seem to grasp that the local police department wont be doling out federal indictments for standing behind there car. Once the police are called you basically have to stick around so the cops don't come looking for you for eluding them.

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain to this lady ways to avoid falling for the scams in the future, my mom is getting to her sort of age and although she's still fairly good at identifying fake calls and stuff now her brain is getting worse and it scares me to think that there are people like my mom out there but are alone with nobody to point out to them "hold up, this situation is really suspicious". Seeing her confusion and fear really hit home hard because it's really familiar. Just, thank you.
@trilogymedia: consider developing a script explaining to victims what you are doing, why you are there, proving credentials, etc that you memorize and quickly say to the victims upon contact (maybe even bring typed info explaining it that can be given to victims). This might help to reduce confusion (as she clearly was) and foster trust sooner. Otherwise, great job guys and thanks for what you are doing! amazing work.
Yes. Frankly, as I watched the video portion when they BOTH were explaining to Ronna what to do, they added to her confusion, IMHO. It seems that a prudent procedure would have been for them to take her notepad, write down the sequence of steps she was advised to take, then include a script that she was to say if Phillip called her again. That way, she could practice her routine and not become re-victimized. There were times that both of our guys were talking to her and piling information on her, almost as though they were telling her what to do if her apartment catches on fire. So, just calm down and help step the lady through the process. It was great when she was asked to practice her phone speech. Good strategy.

I've been in that highly-charged-defensive headspace and its somewhat cathartic to feel in control while you loose your venom at the threat. ... That interaction was so cringe worthy. He says "I will kick your ass if you don't get away from my car". The old man calls his bluff and Ash responds "I would love to, but I'm not going to jail like you". He issues a threat and immediately backs down, making his threats seem empty and childish.
I love their channel and what they do but yeah that was really stupid. They're putting themselves in harms way, and, God forbid, risking getting charges themselves if they are involved in an altercation. It's one thing if you're on your own but there was a group of them against one drink dude...

youtube is highly incentivizing them to get comments. All press is good press, and all comments are good comments. Do you leave a comment if everything is professionally handled? Do people reply to comments that say, “great job, appreciate the professionalism”. Do I leave this comment explaning how this performative activism actually accomplishes what it sets out to do, these two are out of a job. RUclips really should be called to account, and entirely remove any algorithmic incentive to receive comments, because it really perpetuates poor behavior from youtubers, and it also create scams. RUclipsrs do give-aways, where the winner is chosen from the comments, this is a scam campaign to manipulate the algorithm… and then even worse scammers target audiences with fake give-aways, and try to pull a just pay the shipping scam. At the end of the day these two are responsible for their behavior 100%, and I agree with you it’s really distasteful and counter-intuitive to their stated objectives.
As a 72 year old retiree, and constantly being hit with scam attempts, you guys careful and caring treatment of this woman warms my heart. Keep up the good work. You guys are great!!
I would recommend that you guys take a training session for yourselves how to talk to these elderly. how to communicate in the slow and steady way. they will give you tools to NOT confuse them, like don't both talk at once, no boomaranging , they get easily confused. Just a thought.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I've always said Art doesn't know how to communicate and not with the elderly, but with anyone!!! I know he's trying to help but he really confuses people and sometimes makes matters worse. One thing you NEVER ask an elderly person is, do you have someone who helps take care of you, you make them feel useless when you say that. They make matters worse by talking at the same time too, they do nothing more than confuse the person their talking to.

Someone has scammed my nana who is 76 years old! She had no idea and was so upset when my aunt and I found out and told her it was a scam. I’m definitely going to have a talk with her tomorrow and make sure she understands to never answer the phone for any scammers!!! I’ll show her this video too. This is so so sad that these scammers take advantage of the elderly :(((
My Nan was so sweet and philanthropic, I can imagine if she was still with us, she'd possibly fall victim to some of these, especially lottery scams. She did lotteries and charity lotteries a lot.
I don't think that man was a dirt bag. He seemed to truly be concerned about his friend. As others have suggested, use one person to explain what you are doing and have some kind of credentials to prove you are not there to harm anyone. But, as an adult child of parents with dementia, it was great to see that man try to protect Ronna. It takes a village. Bless your hearts for going after the merciless real dirt bags.

I agree. He thought they were suspicious so it makes sense that he would call 5he police. I totally didn’t like how they escalated the situation by threatening to kick his “butt” And all the language that they used. He was trying to help the lady too so they should have been more understanding instead of attacking him the way they did. Also, They should have let the police handle it as soon as they realized she wasn’t involved. To make sure that lady had protection. That woman could be in danger.

I commend and support everything you guys do, but when talking to this elderly lady you should have kept your conversation much simpler. You could see how confused she was getting every time you gave another example or explanation. Also, take off the sunglasses. They can be intimidating. Keep up the good work!
I believe the sunglasses are Art's camera. They were both talking to her at once and it was such a shame. I don't think they were both on the same page when asking her what to do at first either. If they would have had less of a time crunch I think they could have paused and started from scratch, I honestly think they were in a state of mild disbelief with the whole situation. I'm glad it's working out for her little by little. Her family know what's going on, and she has wonderful neighbours looking out for her - and what's better is that she KNOWS that people have her back now, and that's one of the best things to come from the encounter.
I agree, they can have a camera in another item and get rid of the extra camera men. They should also dress more professionally and as others have said develop a concise script to explain exactly what is happening that one of them recites so they aren’t both talking at once.

That guy at the end especially, he had no way to know you weren't scamming Ronna, especially with the first few things said "we're her friends" and confirming you're there to stop the old people being scammed, and that you have to leave immediately - it might be worth having business cards and maybe even have practiced interacting with people who have no idea who you are as a team maybe? I don't know exactly, but I just think you didn't get this one right and honestly, I'm actually glad that the building people tried to get the police involved because what if next time it's not good guys trying to get a resident to do something involving their credit cards? Obviously he didn't handle it well either, but that's another matter. That said, it was still a good outcome overall by the end and I appreciate what you do, I'm so glad you were able to help Ronna and thanks for running the GoFundMe - I chipped in. Also, scams are literally done by being nice and gaining trust to take advantage. This is an irrelevant argument imo. From that dude's perspective, an intimidating group of young guys with cameras are holding a bunch of paperwork and crowding his elderly neighbor and he has no context for why. The Trilogy crew give a VERY rushed and dismissive set of statements saying they know her and are friends, but hey we gotta leave right now this exact second for a flight. Reeks of gotta-flee-the-crime-scene vibes, even though their intentions were altruistic. They did a terrible job instilling any sense of that, to the point that I can't see any other logical thought process that doesn't lead to at least some semblance of healthy skepticism from a passerby. The man may have been a bit rude in his initial interaction with the guys, but I really don't feel that's an excuse for all the fire that followed. Anyway, that's just my take. EDIT: Further, the glorification with how that interaction was handled via the thumbnail of the vid and the cheering section that is a decent portion of the comments feel like we're supporting the wrong attitude and behavior. Image is pretty important, and there's a bit of tarnish on the Trilogy reputation starting to become visible for a portion of their audience.

As much as I agree they are unprofessional at times, that neighbour should have known they were some kind of media group / film makers / journalists from all the camera equipment they had. Scammers or criminals wouldn't take cameras with them to record evidence which could later be used against them.
I genuinely do appreciate you guys helping people out and stopping scams. Though this video was pure chaos as a lot of other people have said.. There definitely has to be a better way to tell these people about the situation they’re currently in instead of bouncing between each other saying small bits and pieces of information. I know it’s far more difficult if someone is convinced of their situation and older, but it just felt like pure insanity until you all sat down and talked to her one on one and even then it felt like the conversation bounced a lot between you guys reiterating information. There’s also the dude at the end that the lady even said was the apartment manager, and I know even if you had a flight to catch like ASAP but talking to him for 4-5 minutes in a calm manner just being like “oh hey, this is who we are, *pull out a phone and show them the channel* we go around the United States stopping scams, she was scammed out of a couple thousand dollars and the scammers were trying to scam someone else out of 30,000$ *which was us talking to the scammers* by sending the money to this lady and then having her call someone to pick it up so it couldn’t be traced back to the scammers.” Would’ve been way better than the almost 10 minutes you guys spent telling the dude you wanted to beat his ass and to suck your dick while looking like you guys were all running away after 3-4 dudes were surrounding an older lady and talking about money. Like I said I genuinely do appreciate what you guys do, but man just watching this video felt sucky.

My thoughts exactly. The dude at the end was trying to do the same thing these guys are doing, protecting Ronna from getting scammed. They got impatient and defensive because of their flight and destroyed their credibility with him. Like, you have a successful youtube channel. You can afford a fee to change your flight if it means equipping someone who works so closely with the vulnerable population that you say you're trying to help with the knowledge he needs to spot exploitation. They went from being the heroes in the video to the villains in the space of about 20 seconds.
The police should have been called! They don't want the police because they want good content without the police. However Trilogy media should have been arrested the way they acted in the parking lot. They acted no differently than the scammers!
I work with elderly in home health and hospice. I heard a scam going on with one of my little elderly ladies. It’s so hard for them to understand, because it looks legit to them. They were raised in such a different generation and they get so confused. Thank you for helping her!

I seen in the comments the suggestion for taking a class or getting some kind of education on how effectively speak to the elderly and I totally agree. Another suggestion for Ashton specifically - when someone acts like the guy at the end refuse to meet their energy. It shows you are the bigger and better person. Keep up the fight guys! Great Job!!

I am very surprised that this was handled on the same day as the student that you guys confronted as a money mule in a previous scam.

This is a sad story with a happy ending. She is 84 years old. How can anybody take advantage of somebody like this?! It breaks my heart. Because of you guys, she learned not to trust the wrong people. You guys are great. I wish there was a way to stop this from happening. Ashton clearly has anger management issues, this isn't the first time I've seen it come up, but this one is the most egregious. Land lord didn't do anything to warrant that hostility on private property. The only person to cross the line was Ashton who theatened to "beath the shi*t" out of the landlord if he didn't move so he get his car out of PRIVATE PROPERTY. If they were there when the cops showed up the only person who would've possibly caught a charge was Ashton. I have been doing a bit of a marathon on your RUclips content recently and while I encourage you in what you are trying to do, there are a number of times that you have come quite close to crossing the line from white knight to the one with criminal charges. The very threats of bodily harm that Ashton levied on that gentleman harm your credibility and professionalism, not to mention it could earn you a criminal record. You have to always be respectful and diligent about what you are saying and how you are saying it, irrespective of how the other person is behaving. You are a professional media group that is trying to help folks, that guy was likely also trying to help his neigbour also, only he is not dealing with confrontation and deception on the level that you guys are. You should have taken the high road and avoided the escalated response that you expressed. Sure, he was wrong to detain you, but you were wrong in how you responded to it! Take note of how your camera man remained calm and was even making headway explaining the purpose for being there, the gentleman was listening to him and then Art and Ashton stepped all over the camera man's efforts and hurled more insults and threatening behaviour. You really need to learn to let just one person talk at a time, and it may not be the lead of the show; the cameraman had it under control, and I strongly believe that is what led to the gentleman stepping aside, not the threats of bodily harm or criminal action. - Don't talk over one another, before now I would have said let Ashton do the talking but he handled this one about as bad as you possibly could. - Don't EVER threaten physical harm on anyone; in some states that is likely to get you shot as they claim the feared for their own wellbeing; your recordings would only count against you in such. Now get back out there, expose those vial scammers, and most of all stay safe and lawful.
You guys also need to remember one thing. You are from a state where the governor has pretty much the violated the 2nd Amendment rights of every citizen with his gun policies. You were in Ohio. Ohio is an open carry state, and as of a year ago you don't need a permit to carry a concealed weapon here. I, for example, carry everywhere, every day. I sleep with a gun on my nightstand. Crime here is ridiculous. Where Ronna lives is fairly well insulated from all of that, but had that guy been carrying and willing to pull a gun, that confrontation could have ended up badly for the 3 of you that were directly involved in it. You talk tough and bully people a lot, but that isn't going to fly everywhere. The second you said you wanted to beat the shit out of him, Ohio would have considered that a threat to his life and shooting you would have been justified under the stand your ground law. You really need to be aware of your surroundings. Only 16.3% of people in California own a gun, and I would guess most of those are gang members. In Ohio it's 42%. Plus the Midwest rust belt is not laid back California. People get shot here in the Cleveland area for sport. That guy was being a jerk, and you have video of him being a jerk, but at the rate that was escalating it was getting close to an explosive point. I know the people here and I can promise you that THAT guy was carrying.

I agree, as someone who watches Trilogy Media all the time I can see when Ashton can get a little unruly in these older videos. He has changed since then but also you have to remember that Ash doesn’t have patience to wait for this guy to leave. Doesn’t excuse his behavior though. As for professionalism goes… Ashton said himself he isn’t a professional because if he was he would be a cop. I thought it very odd when I first viewed this that he followed (or more than not escorted) the Triology Team from the building whilst shouting out to another chap that they were there to help someone from being scammed! When he said this in a raised voice it did not sit well so maybe the other chap could have been involved too. His behaviour was 100% NOT normal. I wonder if anyone suggested this to the Triology Team at the time because this is worth a follow up? x

I really enjoy trilogy media but the most effective way to get your point across in confrontation is to be cool and collected. Your words are better received by anyone when you make your point and move on. Cursing and arguing just gives these asses more fuel for their fire. Be assertive, remain calm and that's way scarier in confrontation then losing your cool . And older people are generally pretty chill and don't like chaos so communicating in a calm tone with clear thoughts is important.
Oh, bless. This woman is amazing. And GOOD for you guys how you dealt with this. She was STILL convinced he had given her money and that she owed HIM! Gas lighting has real effects. And, my gosh, there were people looking after her in the building and she didn't realise it.
Having watched the last few videos of you confronting mules and the people that were scammed I’ve noticed a few things. 1. Back and forth between Ashton and Art intimidates the people they speak to and causes them to not want to speak or lie their way out of everything. Especially when there’s a tall eastern european man towering over you. 2. Several videos have been made where you end up in dangerous situations such as someone having a gun, the fellow in this video, and other things. This is due to a severe lack of pre-planning. Using the example of the gun, had more planning gone into it, they would’ve known the guy’s background and realized there was a chance of an accessible firearm. Adding to the pre-planning, you should clear all this field work with the local police so they’re aware and possibly even help you defuse dangerous situations. 3. Wow, there is a serious lack of professionalism between these two. By rushing through explaining everything and dropping the company name in the middle of the explanation, really isn’t helpful to anyone. These people are processing they’ve been scammed, are money mules, or are processing they’ve been found out so they’re not focused on your company name or the explanation. Learn one on one interview and explanation skills and you may not be in as many dangerous situations 4. You go to these meet ups and never seem to show proof to anyone about what you know. Show the evidence to prove your thought 5. Ashton needs to really work on himself. Addressing a civillian like that, regardless, speak professionally and calmly explain whats going on.

@@america1403 While you may be correct that a lot of the time they don’t know who the mules/people are in advance, if they were to meet with law enforcement a background check on the property could possibly be done and more information could be gathered to both help the investigation and their safety. As for the “laundry list”, its a list of things for them to consider as they continue their work. I think I’d rather them be safe and alive, coordinate with local law enforcement, and have a longer video rather than running into these situations blind. Additionally, in regards to the commentary on Ashton’s behavior, I don’t think that if you were on the receiving end of his words you’d be ok with that, especially after seeing them being suspicious with an elderly resident

Please get some de-escalation training, as many others have said. It will keep you safer. You cannot win an argument with a drunk person. You have to just let it go, don’t let them get what they want, which is conflict. Ignore them until they get tired of it.
I agree. They both think they are badasses and tough guys. Get one of them alone and/or no camera and I'm sure things change. Good guys can be bullies too. You guys unlawfully detain people all the time and use intimidation tactics. Expect answers from people you have contact with, and are deceitful with your threats/facts. I like the work Trilogy does, but I'm afraid this was plain foul mouthed bullying at the end. You threatened to beat him up, accused him of being drunk, lots of swear words., made me feel dirty just watching it. The scammers frighten people.., I am sorry but it makes me feel very uneasy watching you do the same to a bystander who, mistakenly, thought he was helping Rhonda. There were better ways to explain what you were doing. I hope you can get someone out there to help her install the phone. She's proud (good on her), she won't ask for help.. I sappreciate you were late for a plane, but maybe that could have been rebooked and you could have taken the opportunity to explain scamming to more vulnerable people? I do love what you do but you don't have to repeat the bullying techniques of scammers to achieve your aims. Most people won't respond well to that.
Think it was mostly because they were in a rush and didn't want to miss their flight. Potentially not being able to get a refund if it was close to the departure time. They didn't expect the owner to randomly stop them and follow them and not let them leave for literally no reason.
I know I haven't been around in a few but know u boys are a God send. U truly are Gods gift to the victims. And I hope that because of ur work the scammers give up going after are elderly and ppl whom are desperate for help. They target ppl who are helpless and u boys are like a night in white armor.
Even with dealing with someone like him, the police are more likely to be on YOUR side if you DO NOT swear or make threats. Remember that for future confrontations. I've dealt with police coming out to my street on a monthly basis and have been for the past decade, I know what I'm talking about. Even if *you are in the right* you absolutely *do not get angry* at your aggressor.

I know this for a FACT. MY 80yo parents fell into traps, mostly my stepdad who opened the door to a guy who claimed to be selling something and that guy had NOTHING to PROVE WHO HE WAS⁉️
He was standing in the house and my mother went off saying:”””Get out of my house now”””
I then came into the living room, so the guy felt surrounded, but seriously DANGEROUS time took place.

Yeah i think the scammers have an easier job with the victims that get contacted by trilogy media. They're all amped up cant concisely explain who they are or what is happening and are less personable than the snake taking grandma for all she's got. In one of their videos they call a woman and she continues to talk to the scammer rather than deal with them. They eventually get their point across and save the day, but they nearly scared off the victim they were trying to save.

I know this is an older video but I am a new subscriber and am enjoying binge watching these videos. I do want to say that the guy that called the cops on you seems like one of those guys who think that they are protecting the building and all of its residents. The other residents probably put up with him and think he is harmless, but make fun of him when he leaves.
I am lad that you guys do what you do. I have severe nerve damage in both legs and feet and it is now moving into my groin area. I also have bone spurs and an enlarged disk in my neck (I am getting a nerve block in a few days for the bone spurs) and all of the pain sends me into a deep depression sometimes. When I start to feel down, and that nobody in this world cares about anyone anymore, I watch videos like the one where you got that older lady $32,000.00 of the money she had stolen from her by a scammer, and it literally brings me to tears. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain to this lady ways to avoid falling for the scams in the future, my mom is getting to her sort of age and although she's still fairly good at identifying fake calls and stuff now her brain is getting worse and it scares me to think that there are people like my mom out there but are alone with nobody to point out to them "hold up, this situation is really suspicious". @trilogymedia: consider developing a script explaining to victims what you are doing, why you are there, proving credentials, etc that you memorize and quickly say to the victims upon contact (maybe even bring typed info explaining it that can be given to victims). This might help to reduce confusion (as she clearly was) and foster trust sooner. Otherwise, great job guys and thanks for what you are doing! amazing work.
Yes. Frankly, as I watched the video portion when they BOTH were explaining to Ronna what to do, they added to her confusion, IMHO. It seems that a prudent procedure would have been for them to take her notepad, write down the sequence of steps she was advised to take, then include a script that she was to say if Phillip called her again. That way, she could practice her routine and not become re-victimized. There were times that both of our guys were talking to her and piling information on her, almost as though they were telling her what to do if her apartment catches on fire. So, just calm down and help step the lady through the process. It was great when she was asked to practice her phone speech. Good strategy.

That interaction was so cringe worthy. He says "I will kick your ass if you don't get away from my car". The old man calls his bluff and Ash responds "I would love to, but I'm not going to jail like you". He issues a threat and immediately backs down, making his threats seem empty and childish.

youtube is highly incentivizing them to get comments. All press is good press, and all comments are good comments. Do you leave a comment if everything is professionally handled? Do people reply to comments that say, “great job, appreciate the professionalism”. Do I leave this comment explaning how this performative activism actually accomplishes what it sets out to do, these two are out of a job. RUclips really should be called to account, and entirely remove any algorithmic incentive to receive comments, because it really perpetuates poor behavior from youtubers, and it also create scams. RUclipsrs do give-aways, where the winner is chosen from the comments, this is a scam campaign to manipulate the algorithm… and then even worse scammers target audiences with fake give-aways, and try to pull a just pay the shipping scam. At the end of the day these two are responsible for their behavior 100%, and I agree with you it’s really distasteful and counter-intuitive to their stated objectives.

I would recommend that you guys take a training session for yourselves how to talk to these elderly. how to communicate in the slow and steady way. they will give you tools to NOT confuse them, like don't both talk at once, no boomaranging , they get easily confused. Just a thought.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I've always said Art doesn't know how to communicate and not with the elderly, but with anyone!!! I know he's trying to help but he really confuses people and sometimes makes matters worse. One thing you NEVER ask an elderly person is, do you have someone who helps take care of you, you make them feel useless when you say that. They make matters worse by talking at the same time too, they do nothing more than confuse the person their talking to.

I really do love how devoted you guys are to busting the scammers, but you had this poor lady a little over whelmed, I just wanted to give her a huge hug and call those scammers right then and there and tell them to leave her alone! Keep up the good work guys, but work safe and watch your back!!
Someone has scammed my nana who is 76 years old! She had no idea and was so upset when my aunt and I found out and told her it was a scam. I’m definitely going to have a talk with her tomorrow and make sure she understands to never answer the phone for any scammers!!! I’ll show her this video too. This is so so sad that these scammers take advantage of the elderly :(((
My Nan was so sweet and philanthropic, I can imagine if she was still with us, she'd possibly fall victim to some of these, especially lottery scams. She did lotteries and charity lotteries a lot.

I don't think that man was a dirt bag. He seemed to truly be concerned about his friend. As others have suggested, use one person to explain what you are doing and have some kind of credentials to prove you are not there to harm anyone. But, as an adult child of parents with dementia, it was great to see that man try to protect Ronna. It takes a village. Bless your hearts for going after the merciless real dirt bags.
That President of the building was a complete and utter moron. Ok. I get it. He thinks a bunch of unknown strangers with cameras come onto "his" property & assumes they are the scammers. Nevertheless, if he had any brains, he COULD have NEEDLESSLY tried blocking their vehicle and could have made calls to confirm from outside independent sources Trilogy Media is real.
I agree. He thought they were suspicious so it makes sense that he would call 5he police. I totally didn’t like how they escalated the situation by threatening to kick his “butt” And all the language that they used. He was trying to help the lady too so they should have been more understanding instead of attacking him the way they did. Also, They should have let the police handle it as soon as they realized she wasn’t involved. To make sure that lady had protection. That woman could be in danger.

I commend and support everything you guys do, but when talking to this elderly lady you should have kept your conversation much simpler. You could see how confused she was getting every time you gave another example or explanation. Also, take off the sunglasses. They can be intimidating. Keep up the good work!

They were both talking to her at once and it was such a shame. I don't think they were both on the same page when asking her what to do at first either.
If they would have had less of a time crunch I think they could have paused and started from scratch, I honestly think they were in a state of mild disbelief with the whole situation.
I'm glad it's working out for her little by little.
Her family know what's going on, and she has wonderful neighbours looking out for her - and what's better is that she KNOWS that people have her back now, and that's one of the best things to come from the encounter.

I really don't think you handled this one well, sorry. That guy at the end especially, he had no way to know you weren't scamming Ronna, especially with the first few things said "we're her friends" and confirming you're there to stop the old people being scammed, and that you have to leave immediately - it might be worth having business cards and maybe even have practiced interacting with people who have no idea who you are as a team maybe? I don't know exactly, but I just think you didn't get this one right and honestly, I'm actually glad that the building people tried to get the police involved because what if next time it's not good guys trying to get a resident to do something involving their credit cards? Obviously he didn't handle it well either, but that's another matter.
That said, it was still a good outcome overall by the end and I appreciate what you do, I'm so glad you were able to help Ronna and thanks for running the GoFundMe - I chipped in. This is only meant hopefully as a small constructive comment to try to help Trilogy do better in future.
have to agree with this. I left this vid feeling conflicted. Feel like with how well Trilogy explains themselves to victims they should definitely do the same for bystanders that (rude or not) are wary of them.

From that dude's perspective, an intimidating group of young guys with cameras are holding a bunch of paperwork and crowding his elderly neighbor and he has no context for why. The Trilogy crew give a VERY rushed and dismissive set of statements saying they know her and are friends, but hey we gotta leave right now this exact second for a flight. Reeks of gotta-flee-the-crime-scene vibes, even though their intentions were altruistic. They did a terrible job instilling any sense of that, to the point that I can't see any other logical thought process that doesn't lead to at least some semblance of healthy skepticism from a passerby. The man may have been a bit rude in his initial interaction with the guys, but I really don't feel that's an excuse for all the fire that followed.
Anyway, that's just my take.
EDIT: Further, the glorification with how that interaction was handled via the thumbnail of the vid and the cheering section that is a decent portion of the comments feel like we're supporting the wrong attitude and behavior. Image is pretty important, and there's a bit of tarnish on the Trilogy reputation starting to become visible for a portion of their audience.

As much as I agree they are unprofessional at times, that neighbour should have known they were some kind of media group / film makers / journalists from all the camera equipment they had. Scammers or criminals wouldn't take cameras with them to record evidence which could later be used against them.

There definitely has to be a better way to tell these people about the situation they’re currently in instead of bouncing between each other saying small bits and pieces of information. I know it’s far more difficult if someone is convinced of their situation and older, but it just felt like pure insanity until you all sat down and talked to her one on one and even then it felt like the conversation bounced a lot between you guys reiterating information.
There’s also the dude at the end that the lady even said was the apartment manager, and I know even if you had a flight to catch like ASAP but talking to him for 4-5 minutes in a calm manner just being like “oh hey, this is who we are, *pull out a phone and show them the channel* we go around the United States stopping scams, she was scammed out of a couple thousand dollars and the scammers were trying to scam someone else out of 30,000$ *which was us talking to the scammers* by sending the money to this lady and then having her call someone to pick it up so it couldn’t be traced back to the scammers.” Would’ve been way better than the almost 10 minutes you guys spent telling the dude you wanted to beat his ass and to suck your dick while looking like you guys were all running away after 3-4 dudes were surrounding an older lady and talking about money.

My thoughts exactly. The dude at the end was trying to do the same thing these guys are doing, protecting Ronna from getting scammed. They got impatient and defensive because of their flight and destroyed their credibility with him. Like, you have a successful youtube channel. You can afford a fee to change your flight if it means equipping someone who works so closely with the vulnerable population that you say you're trying to help with the knowledge he needs to spot exploitation. They went from being the heroes in the video to the villains in the space of about 20 seconds.
The police should have been called! They don't want the police because they want good content without the police. However Trilogy media should have been arrested the way they acted in the parking lot. They acted no differently than the scammers!

I work with elderly in home health and hospice. I heard a scam going on with one of my little elderly ladies. It’s so hard for them to understand, because it looks legit to them. They were raised in such a different generation and they get so confused. Thank you for helping her!

This is a sad story with a happy ending. She is 84 years old. How can anybody take advantage of somebody like this?! It breaks my heart. Because of you guys, she learned not to trust the wrong people. You guys are great. I wish there was a way to stop this from happening. I knew scams were a thing, but i didn't know how bad it really was. Thanks to you for bringing this knowledge to all of us so we can be more prepared if someone tries to scam us. Ashton clearly has anger management issues, this isn't the first time I've seen it come up, but this one is the most egregious. Land lord didn't do anything to warrant that hostility on private property. The only person to cross the line was Ashton who theatened to "beath the shi*t" out of the landlord if he didn't move so he get his car out of PRIVATE PROPERTY.

I have been doing a bit of a marathon on your RUclips content recently and while I encourage you in what you are trying to do, there are a number of times that you have come quite close to crossing the line from white knight to the one with criminal charges. The very threats of bodily harm that Ashton levied on that gentleman harm your credibility and professionalism, not to mention it could earn you a criminal record. You have to always be respectful and diligent about what you are saying and how you are saying it, irrespective of how the other person is behaving. You are a professional media group that is trying to help folks, that guy was likely also trying to help his neigbour also, only he is not dealing with confrontation and deception on the level that you guys are. You should have taken the high road and avoided the escalated response that you expressed. Sure, he was wrong to detain you, but you were wrong in how you responded to it!
Take note of how your camera man remained calm and was even making headway explaining the purpose for being there, the gentleman was listening to him and then Art and Ashton stepped all over the camera man's efforts and hurled more insults and threatening behaviour. You really need to learn to let just one person talk at a time, and it may not be the lead of the show; the cameraman had it under control, and I strongly believe that is what led to the gentleman stepping aside, not the threats of bodily harm or criminal action.
- Don't talk over one another, before now I would have said let Ashton do the talking but he handled this one about as bad as you possibly could.
- Don't EVER threaten physical harm on anyone; in some states that is likely to get you shot as they claim the feared for their own wellbeing; your recordings would only count against you in such.
Now get back out there, expose those vial scammers, and most of all stay safe and lawful.
You guys also need to remember one thing. You are from a state where the governor has pretty much the violated the 2nd Amendment rights of every citizen with his gun policies. You were in Ohio. Ohio is an open carry state, and as of a year ago you don't need a permit to carry a concealed weapon here. I, for example, carry everywhere, every day. I sleep with a gun on my nightstand. Crime here is ridiculous. Where Ronna lives is fairly well insulated from all of that, but had that guy been carrying and willing to pull a gun, that confrontation could have ended up badly for the 3 of you that were directly involved in it. You talk tough and bully people a lot, but that isn't going to fly everywhere. The second you said you wanted to beat the shit out of him, Ohio would have considered that a threat to his life and shooting you would have been justified under the stand your ground law. You really need to be aware of your surroundings. Only 16.3% of people in California own a gun, and I would guess most of those are gang members. In Ohio it's 42%. Plus the Midwest rust belt is not laid back California. People get shot here in the Cleveland area for sport. That guy was being a jerk, and you have video of him being a jerk, but at the rate that was escalating it was getting close to an explosive point. I know the people here and I can promise you that THAT guy was carrying.

I agree, as someone who watches Trilogy Media all the time I can see when Ashton can get a little unruly in these older videos. He has changed since then but also you have to remember that Ash doesn’t have patience to wait for this guy to leave. Doesn’t excuse his behavior though.
As for professionalism goes… Ashton said himself he isn’t a professional because if he was he would be a cop.

I thought it very odd when I first viewed this that he followed (or more than not escorted) the Triology Team from the building whilst shouting out to another chap that they were there to help someone from being scammed! When he said this in a raised voice it did not sit well so maybe the other chap could have been involved too. His behaviour was 100% NOT normal.

I really enjoy trilogy media but the most effective way to get your point across in confrontation is to be cool and collected. Your words are better received by anyone when you make your point and move on. Cursing and arguing just gives these asses more fuel for their fire. Be assertive, remain calm and that's way scarier in confrontation then losing your cool . And older people are generally pretty chill and don't like chaos so communicating in a calm tone with clear thoughts is important.

Having watched the last few videos of you confronting mules and the people that were scammed I’ve noticed a few things.
1. Back and forth between Ashton and Art intimidates the people they speak to and causes them to not want to speak or lie their way out of everything. Especially when there’s a tall eastern european man towering over you.
2. Several videos have been made where you end up in dangerous situations such as someone having a gun, the fellow in this video, and other things. This is due to a severe lack of pre-planning. Using the example of the gun, had more planning gone into it, they would’ve known the guy’s background and realized there was a chance of an accessible firearm. Adding to the pre-planning, you should clear all this field work with the local police so they’re aware and possibly even help you defuse dangerous situations.
3. Wow, there is a serious lack of professionalism between these two. By rushing through explaining everything and dropping the company name in the middle of the explanation, really isn’t helpful to anyone. These people are processing they’ve been scammed, are money mules, or are processing they’ve been found out so they’re not focused on your company name or the explanation. Learn one on one interview and explanation skills and you may not be in as many dangerous situations
4. You go to these meet ups and never seem to show proof to anyone about what you know. Show the evidence to prove your thought
5. Ashton needs to really work on himself. Addressing a civillian like that, regardless, speak professionally and calmly explain whats going on.

@@america1403 While you may be correct that a lot of the time they don’t know who the mules/people are in advance, if they were to meet with law enforcement a background check on the property could possibly be done and more information could be gathered to both help the investigation and their safety.
As for the “laundry list”, its a list of things for them to consider as they continue their work. I think I’d rather them be safe and alive, coordinate with local law enforcement, and have a longer video rather than running into these situations blind. Additionally, in regards to the commentary on Ashton’s behavior, I don’t think that if you were on the receiving end of his words you’d be ok with that, especially after seeing them being suspicious with an elderly resident

Please get some de-escalation training, as many others have said. It will keep you safer. You cannot win an argument with a drunk person. You have to just let it go, don’t let them get what they want, which is conflict. Ignore them until they get tired of it.
I agree. They both think they are badasses and tough guys. Get one of them alone and/or no camera and I'm sure things change. Good guys can be bullies too.
You guys unlawfully detain people all the time and use intimidation tactics. Expect answers from people you have contact with, and are deceitful with your threats/facts. It is unreasonable and downright ironic/shameful how aggressive you guys responded to the incident with the drunk. Little bit of your own medicine I feel.
I like the work Trilogy does, but I'm afraid this was plain foul mouthed bullying at the end. You threatened to beat him up, accused him of being drunk, lots of swear words., made me feel dirty just watching it. The scammers frighten people.., I am sorry but it makes me feel very uneasy watching you do the same to a bystander who, mistakenly, thought he was helping Rhonda. There were better ways to explain what you were doing. I hope you can get someone out there to help her install the phone. She's proud (good on her), she won't ask for help.. I sappreciate you were late for a plane, but maybe that could have been rebooked and you could have taken the opportunity to explain scamming to more vulnerable people? I do love what you do but you don't have to repeat the bullying techniques of scammers to achieve your aims. Most people won't respond well to that.
Think it was mostly because they were in a rush and didn't want to miss their flight. Potentially not being able to get a refund if it was close to the departure time. They didn't expect the owner to randomly stop them and follow them and not let them leave for literally no reason.
I know I haven't been around in a few but know u boys are a God send. U truly are Gods gift to the victims. And I hope that because of ur work the scammers give up going after are elderly and ppl whom are desperate for help. They target ppl who are helpless and u boys are like a night in white armor.

Even with dealing with someone like him, the police are more likely to be on YOUR side if you DO NOT swear or make threats. Remember that for future confrontations. I've dealt with police coming out to my street on a monthly basis and have been for the past decade, I know what I'm talking about. Even if *you are in the right* you absolutely *do not get angry* at your aggressor.
I admire you guys for being so brave in doing this. But be very careful on confronting the scammer, you'll never know if they carry something. May God bless you guys.

He made a stupid mistake in a tense situation that was very hostile he was simply hurt so he retaliated. He needs to learn anger control though.
Yeah, I like their videos, but he always loses his temper and makes the overall credibility of the video much lower.
What's dumb is that they chose to include this video footage at the end where they could've just not included it, it makes them look soooo bad. The only person who would catch charges is the big guy who said he was going to beat the sh*t out of him.

Imprisonment? That's a private parking lot, he's not doing anything illegal even if he's blocking your car from leaving. It was your choice to park on their property.
Trilogy Media you really should cool your jets, I like your content but y'all got some serious temper problems that are founded by a misunderstanding of the law and intentions of others (land lord was just looking out for the old lady not trying to fight or get your arrested)

@@27Merkaba Yes the guy was just trying to protect the lady but the scammer wasn’t picking up, they were abt to miss their flight, and now being held in a parking lot. Not trying to excuse it but atp I would get irritated to. They could’ve 100% handled it better but it is what it is.
