I think Rich makes these Power Rankings based more on storylines than how good teams actually are.
He does them in ways specifically to drive engagement. Same with overreaction Monday. They’re pretty good at it

They haven't needed Herbert to be great or carry the team. How much better will this team be when the passing game comes together? As a life-long Cowboy fan, we do NOT belong on the list. We are somewhere in the 14-18 range. We cant run and we cant stop the run. Thats not a recipe for NFL success.

I'm a 49ers fan and I would personally put the Vikings higher on the list. I legitimately think they they are legit team. The defensive coordinator knows what he's doing The coach knows what he's doing The quarterback is surprising most people other than the people that knew what he's truly about. They are legit team.

As a Hawks fan, I get it. We barely scraped by two terrible teams, and two terrible QB's in Nix and Brissett. Now we play Miami with their back up QB, Seattle won't get any recognition unless they beat Detroit in Detroit.

The reason why the power rankings are this way is because before the season started, Rich stated his "Way Too Early" power Rankings. So then after the results of Week One, he didn't base it off of a clean slate, instead Rich amended his "Way Too Early" Power Rankings off of the Week 1 results. And today is amended from last, and so forth.
Last season was the eve of this show so there wasn't a pattern to recognise.

Look, I love my Texans, but we're not the second best team in the league. We didn't play well on Sunday against the Bears. We're winning, but we're not on the same caliber as many other teams in this league. The only thing I will say is that we're finding ways to win, even if they're ugly wins, and that's what championship teams do. So I'll give you that.

I would love to see more of the Chargers as well. I believe the culture has changed there. I've been watching them for a very long time and I have never seen them bully another team wearing powder blue. Ever. They usually struggle against a weak team and charger all the time. Justin Herbert doesn't have to do anything but you know damn well he can throw the ball when he needs to. We've seen it before. Let's not pretend Keenan Allen and Mike Williams have been out, because they have. Herbert still managed to throw 500 yd to six different players in one season. Now he has a defense and a run game. Special teams are also pretty good. Oh and an experienced head coach. Pittsburgh will be a wonderful test. Another show in the trenches, Joe Alt vs. T.J. Watt!

As a Hawks fan I can see why. The Hawks beat two terrible teams, both with terrible QB's, and we barely scraped by both of them. If the Hawks can find a way to start games off strong, limit the idiotic and pointless penalties, while putting together a decent run game while Walker is out, they will look much better. I think the Hawks need to give McIntosh a chance this week, Charbonnet is a good pass catching RB, but the guy is flat out hot garbage as the lead RB.

This is one of the wildest Power rankings. Texans #2? For beating playing penalty ball with the Bears defense and beating Anthony Richardson's Colts? The Bills are 5 for beating the sneaky wildcard Cardinals and already crowned division winners, Dolphins? Bucs beat the Lions, yes. And before that they beat the Commanders... the Jayden Daniels Commanders? but 4? The Chargers haven't proved themselves? the Cowboys prove every year they are frauds bro.
