  • Welcome to this week’s episode of Fratello Talks. In this special long-form episode, Nacho, RJ, and Morgan discuss Watches and Wonders 2024. There’s much to unpack from this year’s fair, so prepare for an extended episode. The trio tackles topics including the general atmosphere of the fair, noticeable trends from brands and the industry overall, and many of the show’s notable releases. This year’s show was slightly slower than what we’ve seen in the past. Nevertheless, there were no fewer releases from the 54 participating brands. Do you want an idea of what it was like to walk the halls and touch (and feel) the watches? If so, tune in to this episode of Fratello Talks!

Agree with the prices, they’ve gone insane

You guys are easily the best watch chat out there. Low key vibe, but also serious collectors etc. easy to take this all too seriously and you guys strike a good balance.

So appreciative of Fratello's coverage of watches and the watch industry and these candid conversations. Such a breath of fresh air! And also, thank you for adding the images of the watches you're talking about - one request is to maybe keep the images on screen for a bit longer - they sometimes feel like a quick flash and I need to rewind to see it (but this is a minor criticism!)

RJ, very interesting point about JLC and the higher price points still selling. My view here is they did the Haute watchmaking releases not because high price points are selling, but to bolster their watchmaking credibility to defend the steep recent price rises of the mass market models. Sort of “halo” releases if you will.

nkuwan You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much

RJ’s pt is valid - watchmakers know how bad the major economies around the world are; so released the watches for the 0.1% super rich; probably held some back for 25 or 26 when things recover.
Tudor BB GMT wins; the dimensions with the vintage look. Wish the red popped a little more but still a buy.

Subdued, is the word you guys are looking for. Not the price level, the event, of course.

It will be interesting to see if next year’s W&W will be similar. Perhaps brands are taming themselves and returning to a greater “normalcy” similar to pre-2020 operations.

Great episode lads. I loved the Zenith releases and also those of Tudor. If I had the means, I'd love to own a PF Tonda or their new one.

The youtube channel of Watches and Wonders had better format last year compared to this year i think. There were more watches being highlighted and experts talking about them, this year it was all in short reels

I'm not sure if I should be mad about premium/luxury watches going up to ridiculous price levels, or if I should just be thankful I don't even need to think about them. They cost so much more than I think they are worth, for me, so they might as well not exist.

Yes jlc can not be the watchmakers watchmaker at below 10k when the watchmaker is 20K. For brand perception they are moving up big time in price. Strategy is less but expansive and less choice at their entry level. (Reversing what they did)
