    The best watch collection I've seen period. A man who clearly loves design first and value somewhere down the line. How refreshing to find someone who isn't boringly going on about showing how much money he has.

    What an amazing collection and the stories that go along with them, I have a small wrist and the biggest watch I wear is a Tudor Pelagos and at 42mm it looks large on my 6.5inch wrist, I am very happy with 34-36mm watches and have a few Rolex in that size, I really can't wait to get some vintage 1980's two-tone Datejust/Air King dates into my collection, thank you so much for sharing this would love to see more of this collection.
    So far one of the best vintage watch video/channels I have found on RUclips.

    First of all, I'd like to say that I love your videos. Being a vintage watch lover, I get pretty tired of all the channels on RUclips that only focus on the new stuff, Rolex prices, "investment" etc.
    However, there's one thing that makes me cringe a bit every time I watch your videos, and that is that you are often very stressed and perhaps talk too much. In your videos like this where you sort of interview a guy, you should really try to let him speak more and show the watches in whichever pace/order he wants (you just grabbed the Rolex box and started unboxing it, which made him stressed and just rushed his story). Basically let them get more space. You're very often interrupting them when they speak, and also don't ask follow up questions, but rather start talking about yourself (short example - I show you a Rolex that is special to me, instead of asking me why it's special and where I got it etc, you start talking about a Rolex you have that is special to you). The same goes for the videos where you do auction previews - the person showing the watches usually don't get too much space.
    We already know that you are knowledgeable, so let the others have some showtime as well. Don't take all of the above the wrong way, I love your videos and your passion for watches, but try to let the others get some space too in the conversation. All the best!

    • @mentawatches
      @mentawatches  9 месяцев назад +1

      Problem is, this type of video isn’t an “interview”. He called us to come buy watches, and if I do not explain to the viewers what I am looking at, believe me, you will complain that it’s a very boring video, as the dealers selling them to me will usually just pull them out say “here you go”. The whole point of this channel is to educate the viewers as to what I am looking at, what I’m looking for, and how they can learn themselves. When it came to his personal collection, of course I let him tell us all about them, but if I don’t respond, what’s the point? I’m just as passionate as he is, so would you rather me sit there stoically with no reaction? If you’d prefer videos where I just sit and let the other person carry the conversation with no reaction, sure, but I’m sure you will complain even worse about that one. Also keep in mind, in all of these videos, I have a rapport with all of these people, so most of the times it is simply two friends talking and sharing their passion for the watches.

    • @Skurtan1337
      @Skurtan1337 9 месяцев назад

      I appreciate your answer, and I'm sorry if you feel like I'm complaining. That wasn't my intention at all. I'm not complaining; I was just trying to give some constructive criticism in all good sense.
      I get your point and it sounds reasonable. Your channel is indeed good for people trying to learn about watches, no doubt. I guess I've been into watches for too long, which makes certain information "redundant" for me (not saying that it's an issue, just responding to your comment). However, that's not really what I'm talking about and I probably chose the wrong video to post this comment. There are better examples where the video is more of an interview. The video with Paul Zuckerman is a good example, or Michael at Rolliefest. Although I can sort of feel the same when for example you are with the Davidoff brothers and they are showing you some cool pieces; surely they know what they are showing and they would probably be able to describe both the watch, the condition, what to lookout for and different alternatives as good as you. I'm not telling you to sit there and don't say anything. I'm saying that if the other people get more space, it will add more to the conversation and probably become more interesting. And again, this is not complaining, it's my attempt to give constructive criticism and letting you know what I "miss" in some of these videos. @@mentawatches
