Morgan I do the exact same, I set my watches to the second with my phone, and I check them every couple days. That's why the watch I'm coveting at the moment is the Speedmaster Super racing. That +0 / +2 per day sounds awesome... (And I've heard some people are getting +0.5 per day )

      I'm surprised Morgan's reaction isn't ( yet) a meme.

Great episode - and I appreciate Thomas' (my name as well) comments on poorly fitted end links- I am forever spoiled by my Tudor BB36 end links, so precisely fitted, impressive.

I don't like bracelets that don't have a taper. It doesn't have to have a "dramatic" Rolex style taper but some taper is a must for me.

Fonts on the dial - yes. The most overused fonts on watch dials are Times New Roman, Helvetica, Arial, and Eurostile. Times is sort of the MS Word default font. I have no idea why brands keep using it - mostly on sub dials. JLC used to hand draw the dial typography even in the 90s, but now it's all Times and Helvetica. The Tudor BB Chrono just uses one typeface, which is cleaner, but then it's Myriad, the an Adobe default font. It's not down to technical or copyright reasons. They could even have a bespoke font made for them, like so many car manufacturers did since the 90s (Mercedes was one of the first with the Coporate ASE). -The Patek Philippe using American Typewriter is also hard to explain. They have even used slightly deformed Arial on their dials. An Eames quote comes to mind: "The details are not the details, they make the product".

My biggest pet peeve: A watch with a thickness over 14mm. Yes, I’m looking at you, Tudor.

I have a theory that “unnecessary” case backs annoy journalists more than other watch buyers. You handle thousands of watches through your career, most of us get to know tens of watches, hundreds at best.

My pet peeve is an insistence to making watches to vintage tool watch requirements/aesthetics. Why does something have to be a dive watch to have a timing bezel. Why can’t we have more bi directional timing bezels? We need a wave of new modern tool watches

The 4:30 date window, especially the diagonal placement. And add a date disk that doesn’t match the dial color… not a fan at all. As a side note, the Titanium Bond Seamaster doesn’t have a date, which I’m assuming would lead to a thinner watch, regardless of sapphire or closed case back.

As a Typographer I would wish more Watch Brands would spend more effort on Fonts.
Most Dials are not good Font-Wise - and that for a luxury-product! Mostly even the Hour-Numbers are looking bad (i.e. the spacing between the 1 und the 2 is for the 12 is different than the spacing on the 11).
So all my watches have plain indices - except fot the IWC Mark XV - IWC really does a good job with fonts - the probably do have a capapble Typographer...

Nice show!! I could not agree more with Morgan! I have not bought a mechanical Seiko exactly because of the way they loose time a day. SEIKO could save some money not making more limited editions or improving the power reserve of a movement 2 hours and invest that money in developing a accurate movement! Citizen has the edge in this regard by the way, Miyotas are a bit more accurate.

My pet peeve, blue dials that lean violet rather than teal. Blue dials that become purple look cheap and nasty to me.

What happened to Fratello? You guys are posting the new white Speedy on Insta and on your website, but no vid on RUclips ? Same happened with the Summer blue collection… Instead a lot of rambling :)

At least 200m these days on a sporty watch and 100m on dress etc. Also the equivalent with anti magnetic

I agree with the comments about crappy end links - that really can ruin a watch for me. I must say I do like my deployants though, whether bracelet or strap.

Great video! My pet peeve is numbers on the dial that are cut off by sub dials or complications. Breitling and IWC are notorious for this!

I agree about display casebacks. Personally I think they look tacky. Few movements look better than a good solid caseback.

Honestly guys, if you want accuracy stop buying mechanical watches and buy a solar quartz with GPS and atomic clock. Just enjoy the mechanicals for what they are. My pet peeve is moaning about the accuracy of a watch! See to yourselves and get a life.
