How to fix a broken side mirror on a Porsche (DIY Tutorial on a Porsche 911)

I had to go through a few of those to get one that moves properly. The problem I keep on having is that the mirror thinks the glass is stuck whereby it goes into some sort of ice cracking mode or something. Left and right parts are the same and the same part is used in some other VAG cars so they can be very cheap on eBay if you are board and keep looking at the pictures.
