great tip thank you..wish I saw this months ago!!!! I paid about $1500 to have all 4 bump stops on my 996 turbo replaced. They also did the front strut mounts which was a few hundred more in parts and done within the 8 hours of labor charged. how has your fix held up? even if you did this once per year its much cheaper than the route I went down! cheers
Sounds good and I just did my 987 boxster both rear and front. Removing the old bump stops were difficult as well as getting the boot align.properly with those bump stops, especially the rear ones. Posted the steps on planet-9.. If this can last a year or so I would be happy as I expect the Krazy glue to dry out....
I have sport suspension too but the link you provided in the description isn't for the ones you're using in the video. Can you please provide the link for sport suspension bump stops?
The risk of serious injury from a knife slip is just dumb given the force needed. Put the bumper in a set of vice grips on a bench. Tendonds take a long time to heal. Work smart friends.
This is the wrong way of doing this. It’s a very bad idea !!!!!! The crazy glue stick to the seal. Then as you let the car down the seal of the shock lets loose. It cost me two shocks!!!! Again, bad idea. Don’t do it !!!!!
I think you're saying the glue went out the back of the bump stop and down the shaft. Use less glue, maybe some saran wrap behind the bump stop (which you can pull out after, maybe) and I think this would work. Also thinking a diagonal cut vs a vertical one is better, since on compression it will want to open up again and follow the seam of the cut.
A small zip tie would help keep it in place too. Thanks for the video
I would do both as zip ties often get hard after a while and break.
@@Francois997.2Get metal zip ties
@@jorgenoneya5382 Rust ? And metal will cut into the bump stop.
Let’s buy a new car ;-)
No rust where im from
Texas southwest. Feel bad for you and your cars if that is the concern
@@jorgenoneya5382 No rust in Vegas, but not everyone lives in the climate we live in.
Did this on all 4 struts last year and everything is holding up fine. I taped the shaft to prevent any krazy glue from sticking. Thanks 🙏 👍

Wet your knife blade and it should cut easier. What a great idea and video, I didn't even know I had such a thing.
Great tip!
I used an exacto knife and a vice, and worked well
excellent idea. thanks for the tip...I have a 2011 C2S same color as yours
Great tip - Thank you
Wow great idea!
Good video
Was about to do this and probably saved hours of my time!! How is it holding up?
There aren't any issues yet!

I did this and wrapped the bumpstop with a silicone tape that is flexible and adheres to itself.
Can you post the part number for the bump stops for the standard 029 Suspension? having issues finding it
So, four months in, how didnthis hold up? I need to do my bump stops on my 996.2...

Great tip. Still holding up?
Yup!
